    Hi Sal

I know im so grateful to my dad and its soooo not like him, he's dead tight lol.

We were dead chuffed with the coach cost, thats the return price for a 53 seater, I was expecting over £400.

Im chuffed your daughter thinks shes found a dress, I hope it goes ok.

You're right it flipping is all go, our next thing is getting all my bm's measured up for their dresses.

We had a good day yesterday, except for the price of the dress! lol
I'm having fun trying to find out from Milly Bridal how to order and pay for a sample of 'real' silk to compare with the samples of synthetic 'silk'. I've been able to order them easily enough and ended up putting a request in the comment box, have to see if it works!
I've ordered STD postcards today and fridge magnets to attach to them, we decided yesterday she'd prevaricated too long and her man of honour decided to give her a good kick start! He decreed that the STD's WILL be posted out within the next 2 weeks lol.
It's a year to the day and I can't believe that this time next year it will all be done and I'll be sitting in a lovely restaurant with a chilled glass of wine enjoying some lovely food by the med.!
We're chasing FoG for his measurements for a suit, we've found a place with brown linen suits and we need him to get a move on before they sell out!

    Hi Herbie

Glad you had a good trip and managed to sort some things out. I've come across the Levante too, you have to see it/be in it to believe it. Its often worse on the eastern side of the rock and that side can be in mist cloud while the port side is in sunshine

We now have less than 3 weeks until we leave and I am still waiting to hear back from the venue about the flowers and the cake  but hopefully everything else is getting there. Priority now is to return the 2 pairs of gold sandals I dont like and try and order some new ones and I still have to get some underwear to go under my halterneck dress !! Dont think it will be an easy task.

Shoes are abit of a stress with me, I like to be comfy but I want a little heel, i also like the ball of my foot to be comfy (if that makes sense lol), I want open toes but I cant seem to find a pair I like. Oh hum plenty of time to keep looking - Unlike you...OMG I would be in a right old state if I was you!!

Are you still having the do at the Caleta Palace? A friend of mine went there the weekend before we went to Gib and said it was great, he was really impressed with the service was really raving about it - Just thought id mention it.

Cant wait to see your pics x
  • Hi Kaz
Less than 3 weeks - I'd be a dithering wreck!
I know what you mean about shoes! We are walking from the gardens to the restaurant so I need a low heel and I haven't yet seen anything suitable and the shops are now changing to winter/school stock :(
Have you told the family yet - I can't remember if you've said, if so how did they react?

Wish I could find the time to be a dithering wreck!

Am working full time and struggling to sort stuff. Need to ring the Caleta as our coordinator was supposed to get back to me yesterday about the cake and flowers and hasnt so I might be chasing round on the Monday when we have to go and see the registrar!

Thanks for the update on the hotel, its promising to know that, as I havent been there since I was 19 and I'm a LOT more than that now!

Am getting there with what I want on the tables, dont want to overdo it but dont want them to look bare. Need to speak to Hotel about that as well but by the time I get home from work with the time difference its too late. Cant phone from work as noone there knows and I dont want them to either, they'll just gush and I hate that .

Family know now, invites went out last week. I actually unplugged the house phone so wouldnt have to speak to mum, but she rang my mobile and it can up as Dad so I got caught out! She is ok about it and of course was can i tell your aunties (her and them are right gossip mongers, almost like they get points for good or bad news).

Priority now is sorting shoes (still) and underwear. All OH has to do is sort the music.

I then of course have to sort all the paperwork we need, and do all the packing for 4 of us and will have 1 day off work before we fly.

Oh dear will we fit it all in

And you will enjoy every minute and know the stress was all worth it!
If there's anything I can do to help just yell - I'm at home all day. x

    Hi sal

Thats really sweet of you to offer but I'm at work all day so have only just managed to log in briefly. It will all come together and if I have to spend the first 2 days of our holiday chasing everything up in order to make it happen then so be it.

Have just emailed the hotel to chase the things they were going to try and sort for me ie cake and flowers

One of my friends rang me last night to tell me he had just booked his flights and hotel, it was the first time I got really excited about it :D.

    Hi ladies

Well I got back from Spain/Gib early hours of this morning and thought I would tell you how it went before I tackle the heap of washing the size of Mount Everest :D

Mom and dad drove Si and I to Gib on Tues, we got the border and the weather was gorgeous, we then drove up to the cable car car park and the Levante (big cloud over the rock) started rolling and and the wind picked up, before we knew it it was freezing, foggy and blowing an absolute gale. We got to the Dell and Patricia told us this was freak weather conditions and the east and west winds were competing with each other - App this only at happens at the most twice a year, anyway they wouldn't let us walk round the Dell because of the danger of the trees falling down!!! The winds were terrible, me and mom nearly got blown over. We managed to find a bar and stayed there for an hour. I remember the levante from when I lived there but not these severe winds, they were mad  I hope it wasnt a sign lol

We went back to the gardens later and I managed to show Si round, he loved them.

We went to the registra and gave in the rest of our paperwork, that was fine.

I found a florist on the Main St, opp M&S. The lady (Scottish) was lovely and I thought she was really reasonable. My bouquet is £40-45 and the BM's are £20 each and she will deliver them to the hotel.

We went to the Elliot Hotel (where me, BM's and some family) are going to stay the night before and they gave us a decent price, there is a hairdressers and beauty in house and I spoke to her, I just need to email all the details.

I checked M&S and Morrisons and they dont do wedding cakes, Morrisons does birthday cakes but nothing else. There are plenty of bakers tho and they only need a few days notice.

The card shop off Main St can get balloon kits (helium etc) at £50 a time.

We also sorted the reception back in Torrie and a ex wedding planner friend who lives out there is going to sort all the decorations and table planning for me.

We also arranged the coach from Torrie to Gib and back, £300 which is loads cheaper than I thought.

It all went better than we could have imagined, dad has said he is going to pay for the reception, food and bar which is a massive weight off our mind. Numbers are growing and we think we are upto about 50 people so far!!!!!!

Im so excited, its going to be fab. Im hoping to fly out in March to sort stuff but if I cant then mom is a great help and will sort stuff for me.

All in all it was a lovely holiday and things went great on the wedding side of things.

Oh well back to reality, im off to sort the whites from the colours

    Chris xxxx

    Hi

Just wanted to pick your brains a bit if you dont mind.

I have had the quotes back from the hotel. They have supposedly gone to a local baker and have got me the price for a single tier simply iced sponge wedding cake as 10" £90 or 12" £102. Are they taking the pi55 or what, M&S dont charge that!

Flowers - they have quoted me :-
    Bridal Bouquet £48
    Bridesmaids £25
    Buttonhole £6.50
    Cake Topper £22
As for the hair flowers, the florist has suggested you have orchids to match your bouquet but obviously 1 or 2 would be ok, they are quite big. Price would be £15.

This is the bouquet I want with a smaller identical version for DD - well it will be when I can upload the pic

Am I too tight as it seems a lot for my hair too which just needs a couple in the hair line like this

cant get link to work will try something else

    Hi Kaz

Im having a hand tied bouquet of roses and then smaller versions for the 5 bm's, I was quoted £40 for mine, I asked for some sparkles and pearls in it so its gone upto £45, they said £20 for the bm's, £4.50 for ladies corsarge & £2.50 for rose button holes and £1.50 if we wanted carnation button holes, we're only bothering with me and bm's, oh isnt wearing a jacket so not having button holes. £15 seems alot for a couple of orchids but I have to be honest I don't know alot about flowers. This is my bouquet, im having pink roses and the bm's are having cream

The cake seems alot, I have a leaflet with a couple of bakers numbers on, let me know if you want them, I can also give you the number of the florist we're using so you can compare them.

I don't think you're been tight at all, its expensive enough without thinking you're been ripped off, do you think the hotel is adding their bit on?
