I love your bouquet xx0

Thanks Herbiecat
I did wonder how much the hotel were adding on. There is no way on this earth I am paying £90 for a 10" sponge cake. I have had a look a M&S site and they can do a seven day order on a 9" plain iced sponge for £25 or a 9" fruit iced for £38. I have checked with the airport and cakes can be transported as hand luggage so unless we can come up with an alternative by contacting them direct thats what we will do. The cakes can be ordered with 7 days notice so it gives me a bit more time. We would prefer sponge but theyre only good for 5 days and it would have to be collected Sat for wedding Wed which would be the last day.
The flowers may be a bit more expensive being orchids but if you have any contacts - preferable emails/websites then I will contact them first.
I love your flowers with the sparkles and pearls and roses are classic. For me they just wouldnt be me, I dont do flowers, frills, or anything like that its clean lines for me so when I saw it I thought simple and stylish. I'm hoping my dress is going to look the same too!Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -

Hey girls,
Need some help/ideas please!
My dd has just been told by the restaurant where she wants to hold her reception that any entertainment must end by midnight. She's not getting maried until 6 with a champagne reception in the Dell so by the time we get to the restaurant and have the meal etc. there will be no time for entertainment
So, it looks like we may have to change venue. Does anyone know if entertainment at the hotels or mon calpe is allowed to go on later?
Or alternatively have any other suggestions.

Gosh i'm really shocked by that midnight is nothing is it!!
I would have thought a hotel would be the best bet, try some of them. We're staying at The Elliott which is dead central off Main Street.
I know Caz is having hers at Caleta Palace, its lovely. Its round the other side of the rock and right on the beach.
Theres also the Rock hotel but i'd heard thats closing soon, not sure if thats true tho.
What a pain eh Sal!
Let us know how it goes xx

Thanks Chris,
It has knocked us a bit for six!
The thing is when we booked the restaurant we thought there would be 50 guests at the most but people are being great and saying that they're going to make it their summer holiday.
We added up everyone on the 'Save The Date' list and there's over 120 people!
I've no doubt some of those will decline but what I think has bumped the numbers is the fact that people are using it as a holiday, so we've got whole families rather than just the adult 'friends'.
We were shocked when he said midnight 'cos as you say that's no time at all there.
DD is now going away to think it through but her h2b is only seeing pound signs in that there's more to buy meals for that first thought and that isn't what's stumped her, it's the entertainment thing.
We're meeting up with Man of Honour and bm's on Monday to do the save the dates and shop for bm dresses so maybe we can talk it through then after she's had the weekend to think it through.
I thought it was going too smoothly!0 -
What about a room somewhere (like a hotel) and having a hot buffet, im sure it might be cheaper if theres that many people coming. 120 is a lot to buy dinner for :-)
We're in exactly the same situation, we thought that maybe 25 people might be with us but at the moment we are upto about 60, i've had another 6 people confirm today!! Its really lovely but its getting to the stage where im hoping people are going to say no lol.
You'd think a place would snap your hand off for 120 etc covers wouldnt you? In still shocked.
I hope Monday goes well. I also hope the bm dress shopping goes nice and smoothly.
My bms are having their dress fittings at the end of Sept, my moms coming over then so shes getting her first look at my dress and will be there for the bms 1st fitting, I cant wait for her to see my dress, there wont be a dry eye in the place lol.

Thanks for the info. Am waiting for a florist to get back to me.
Its a laugh isnt it - I'm having my wedding at the Caleta which can cater for hundreds and dont want any 'evening entertainment' and there's only 20 of us :rotfl:. So long as I dont have one to many and end up as the entertainment like last Saturdays bride at the place I work. She was legless!!!!
Price wise, we're having a forked buffet which has a served starter and dessert plus coffee and its £25 per head, with a drinks package, arrival drink + 1/2 btl wine + 1/2 btl water + cava for toast for £16 per head. There are cheaper and more expensive menus but only more expensive drinks packages! Its easier for us with only 20.
One thing to watch for is that the food carries a 10% service charge which is added on top, so watch out for this as it may be the same on other places in Gib.
I guess the only problem with a large wedding at The Dell is then having to get the guests back round to somewhere like The Caleta.

Actually Chris, she's not worrying about the cost, when she was getting married in the UK the cheapest option worked out at £60 per head! The dearest option from the restaurant is less than half that per head.
What she wants is a lovely 'easy' evening starting with the wedding then a lovely evening eating and celebrating with her closest friends and family and if the restaurant won't have entertainment after midnight then it sort of puts a dampner on things.
We have a problem with bm's in that her colour is not easy to find! We've looked at the Chinese shops for them and they don't have a shade anywhere near so it looks like we'll have to source a dressmaker here (we've seen the colour online) or ask if they can source it. All 3 adult bms are completely different bodyshapes and sizes so we just want to see dresses on 2 of them.
Oh well, we'll have a nice day anyway!0
