What an assumption.. Of course I have children, just because I find them easy to cope with
Is that because you only had them for 3 months then put them into childcare so you didn't become a 'burden' to your employer?

Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Congratulations, OP. I would do anything for a baby. My fiance and I have been trying since 2006. It is quite heartbreaking for us.

    Enjoy it.

Fairy, I hope one day your dream comes true xxx

My husband currently has 2 employees on maternity leave, he has to pay them aswell as employing others to do their jobs. In other words he is paying four people to do two peoples jobs!

Nope, SMP is relclaimed from HMRC by offsetting it against what he is due to pay them each month. If he's a small employer he gets 104% back. If not, he gets 92%. So he is by NO means paying 4 salaries.

It's a common misconception that employesr pay SMP. They don't. They do however pay any company materrnity pay that they have CHOSEN to provide over and above the statutory minimum.
:D Make a list of important things to do today. At the top, put 'eat chocolate'. Now, you'll get at least one thing done today. :D

Thanks for setting that straight! I'd already asked if her hubby could claim it back, but as usual Grace declined to answer.

I couldn't claim SMP because my wages fell too low during the 8 qualifying weeks as I was off on the sick, so I'm only entitled to Maternity Allowance. (And before you want to stick your oar in Grace, my employer can claim most of that sick pay back).

I did not decline to answer, my husband is away on business so when I speak to him I don't talk about things like that. However the people who work for him that I spaek to all think it is extremely disruptive for people to take months off work.

Can I just say that when the OP asked what she is entitled to it is highly unlikely she was talking solely about maternity pay. As for saying you hope I get counselling before I have a child, you are totally ridiculous!

Grace, I'm a nice person, and normally find the good in everyone, but you are the nastiest piece of work I've ever come across, and I sincerely hope you're the invention of some bored person at home who enjoys trolling, as if you are real and this really is your attitude in life then I'm amazed you have a partner or friends.

And if you are real, I make no apologies for saying I hope you never have a child as I can only see from your posts that it would have the worst, most love-starved upbringing I can imagine.

And yes, that IS a horrible thing to say. You deserve every word.

I hope your own wishes come true fairy and you are able to have a baby. My brother and sister in law went through the heartbreak of not being able to have children so I feel for you.

    Good luck.

Are you saying there is something wrong with employing a nanny? The majority of people I know were practically brought up by nannies, so their parents could give them a fantastic life.

There's nothing wrong with employing a nanny as long as you don't mind your children loving the nanny more than they love you.

My elder daughter was a nanny for several different families, over many years and without fail, when the children needed love and comfort they turned to her because they knew that their Mother was too busy making money - not for the children, but for their own materialistic satisfaction.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
