Well we had some crap news today, OH has lost his job, they tried keeping him on but they couldnt so we are a bit up the creek as regards money now, dont know what we'd be entitled to if anything so will do a little calculation on entitledto.com :(
Am even more gutted cos I just had to shell out £116 for a new exhasut on my car today too!
AM he should get contribution based JSA at least, hope you can get more if you need it! xx
    Does anyone know about 'effacement'?
When I was in labour with Chris the MW described it as normally the cervix points to wards ur bum but when fully effaced it points forwards and is softer

Elle - My 1st word was "Bear" my sis taught it me after reading a care bears book about getting a new little sister :D

Thanks Krystal (and Tinkerbell) - it's nice knowing it's not just me :)
everyone else always describes this "amazing surge of love"... and I keep thinking "well what if I don't get that?" it's like I would be a bad mum or something... I know it's silly and I'm sure I WILL love her to bits but that tiny little voice that says "but what if" just won't shut up!
It's strange because I know I want her and I want her here now and not in 5 weeks time or whenever - these emotions and hormones are just weird :D
I really didn't feel this surge that some speak of, I thought Chris was very cute and lovely but didn't spend ages staring at him or anything I could frankly take it or leave it with him for about the first week! :o I'm not sure what happened but one day I just decided he was fab and I wanted to hug him constantly and never let go!
I would agree with others that have said don't worry about bonding before they arrive coz ur just putting unnecessary pressure on yourself :) it doesn't matter when it comes as long as it does come eventually xx

Squishy I had a postit of things to ask at my app stuck on my notes which my MW spied and even check off each one for me (this was the :A one I love!) one of them was "hear heartbeat?" so she got her doppler out for me :T that was at 20wk app (I didn't have 16 wk app as declined tripple test)

DH has went out to do the asda run for the shop, so all the gossip from my scan.

Everything baby wise looks fine, growing as 'she' should, confirmation that she looks like a she (although we couldn't see the front so there could be a penis hiding there and the testicles in folds that look like a girl), will be getting more scans anyway. Happy that it's a girl, but I would have liked another boy too. Everyone just kinda assumed I'd want a girl because we have 2 boys, and part of me does. But part of me is also !!!!ed off at how 'excited' people have been that it's a girl.

One problem is the blood flow through the placenta. I have a 'bulge' on the flow chart which should stop at about 14 ish weeks, so that means I am at risk of high blood pressure, but we knew that all ready. It will be kept an eye on. Another scan in 3 weeks time (29th April). Got to see my mw in between then and now for a urine and BP check.

Was scanned for ages and a 'trainee' had a go too, was nice but I really hurt now, especially my section scar as they were really pressing on it to get the head measurements. Baby is head down too and headbutts my bladder. She did not like getting scanned at all! But got into some funny positions, the diver, the fists over the face, the one little fist waving at us all!

BP was back down 131/79 which for me in a hospital is brilliant. Trace of keytones and a + of protein though. No bloods taken however as my swelling is hardly anything at all today. :D:D

Thanks for answering all: it sounds like I'm going to have to ask if I want to hear then  It was my 16 week appointment yesterday, so won't be seeing anyone now until my 20 week scan, but hopefully I will have started to feel the baby move by then! It just would have been nice for a bit of reassureance, you know? As long as she isn't missing anything she really should be doing. Oh well, something else to remember to ask at the scan then - as well as asking about my first bounty pack (the midwife had never heard of it before - only the later ones you pick up from asda as she put it!) :D

First time I saw DS1 I thought he looked a bit like an alien, but I did get that surge.

With DS2 I honestly couldn't have cared less. He could have been any baby. Very much 'whateva' about him. I spoke to the staff at NICU and they told me it was common. Sometimes your body makes your mind focus on yourself while you recover from the birth (however it happens) and your baby is sidelined... till it works that magic on you with the dilating pupils and amniotic fluid smell designed to make mother fall in love. It happens in it's own time.

FYI - the rules re not eating undercooked eggs DO include lion mark eggs - When I was preg with Chris I actually contacted the FSA and they confirmed that their advice is that preg women should only eat eggs that had been fully cook lion mark or not - not that I followed that advice for long :p:cool:

Oops! Soz if anyone ran off to have runny eggs! Sami - you are an Oracle, a fountin of all knowledge. I shall only have them when I have Gammon which isn't very often!

    Evening all,

I had a few niggly pains on and off over my stomach and sides today, so I'm hoping it is just the start of the growth spurt that Glamazon has been talking about :o I guess I tend to worry about things too much (in fact, I know I do!) and pregnancy is probably just going to make me worse :rotfl:

I think it may be time to stick the kettle on and eat the cream egg easter egg that is in the cupboard - anyone want share? :D

    Hello there
My stomach feels exactly the same - niggly pains just below the bump and kinda over my hips. I am sure this is just the start of the stretching ready for the spurt!
I have felt tiny little flutterings - like butterflies and thought I'd felt a few hard kicks. Just like a sudden pain but then it goes - I don't know.
As I didn't have Triple Test, I don't have to see MW til 24 weeks but she said I could book in at 22 if I want to.
I've got the consultant tomorrow - do you think I might hear it then?

    Naughty, naughty :naughty::naughty::naughty:
You shouldn't have Easter Eggs before Easter! MIL had a go cos I ate the one she bought me for the Baby. Oh well, 1 down 4 to go!!
A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Where does the time go?

Cross stitch and choc ice every time! What are you stitching, I have just finished a big project of a garden for my mum's neighbouts and have now started a snow white + 7 dwarves pic for beanies room. I love stitching in bright colours!
