I have been a Costco member for several years. The annual membership fee of £25 is excellent value! The kirkland washing powder is excellent, I am still using the box I bought in November! Only a small amount is needed (comes with a measuring scoop) and doesnt leave any residue on dark colours. Other favourites are salmon fillets (outstanding value and you can cut up into fillets and freeze), chicken, mince, electrical goods (have never had a problem returning for a full refund if faulty), books, jeans, bread, butter, pizza and frozen prawns.
Their cafeteria is also great value.:T

  • Membership can be difficult to obtain here, but if you have friends in the USA, get a card there its $50 and you get 2 cards! All is needed is a US address and you can pay using your debit card. This way you get to save in the UK and they get to save in the USA. Buy the way have saved a fortune on Persil washing powder!

    RE Costco
Recently bought a LG Cinema Surround DVD package, was £50 cheaper than anywhere on-line, paid with my RBOS Royalties Gold card as well and got 2 yrs extended warranty! Bday cakes are huge, good Q and cheap! Loo Rolls / Kitchen Rolls bulk buys are great value too.

Got a BOGOF membership as well (mega brownie points with the mother-in-law!!!)

Will need to take advantage of the bulk baby stuff once my 1st one (girl) arrives in august!

I was also told about the lifetime warranty on electricals when I joined in 1994. I didn't believe it either so asked several times. However I do not think it applies anymore as I recently asked about a washing machine that was faulty after owning it for 7 years and was told that it is now 3 years.

    Costco Electricals...

I'm a business member but was told on signing up that whatever electricals you buy, if something goes wrong, they'll take it back without warranty and for life!
I was surprised but they were dead serious!
They're not as cheap as the internet by any means but I'd certainly consider them if you'd usually pay extra for an extended warranty on top. Seemed like a great deal to me.

    Costco Meat...

Excellent value for money - fresh or frozen - high quality and much more generous.

    Bulk Goods...

Kitchen, Toilet Rolls, Foil, Cling Film - Lasts ages and excellent quality - good prices.

    Non Foods....

Amazing prices on dishwasher tabs - usually 50% extra free with top brands premium range - last ages for jaw dropping prices!
Washing tablets, fabric softener etc... must save hundreds a year for the average family.

I went to Watford Costco yesterday. (Monday 4th May) Didn't see any offers on. I think the offer booklet has now finished and there were beds, washers and dryers on offer in recent weeks. I have recently purchased a new washing machine from there and it was not on offer but still about £120 cheaper than elsewhere. They seem to do the offers more frequently now so keep an eye out.

Havent had a booklet through from the Reading or Watford store for ages. Can anyone out there tell me if beds or washing machines/dryers on special offer? Tks
  • Costco fruit and veg may seem expensive compared to the supermarkets, but the quality and flavour are far better than anything you can usually get elsewhere. Try their supersweet pineapples, grapes, avocados, bananas and oranges. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Five a day? :jEasy peasy _party_

we always buy 100 paper cups with lids for about £10.00 - husband takes one every day to train station with him - just add coffee - it saves him splashing out £2.50 upwards

Buy a fancy insulated mug from Starbucks for £6.49 and re-use it hundreds of times. Several advantages - it costs less in the long run, it keeps your coffee hot and your hands cool.
