the worst aspect of this thread is is not that trolls are such a waste of space, but that damien hirst, who never had an orignal idea in his life, generates so much comment. i lie at wake at night |(on my park bench, in my shell suit, with half a congealed sanwich in my hair)* just knowing that idle geezer is going to use this bleedin' thread as his next work... he'll print it out as wallpaper (c) (copyright cestlavie) and name it something pretentious like.... oh, actually, i hesitate to ask for answers on a postcard.. but you get the idea.

    * (that bloomin' emin is a thief of ideas too!)

Jeez, are you a mindreader or time traveller, or work for the Guardian.. Or Mr Hirst..?!

    Today's answer is

    Chiaroscuro

    !!

haha :D I have a bit of foresight, always annoyingly vague stuff, my daughter is the same, she doesn't get away with much having a mum like me around

either that or the Guardian are reading this on a Sunday and then choosing the questions ? lol

That doesn't work :( Quick Brwon Fox actually reads 'Kwuick Brown Foks' - there's no punctuation. Can anyone explain that?

I'm actually enjoying the quiz part of all this :)
Hi, just thought I'd put in my twopenceworth. The reason that there are more letters in "quick brown fox" is because there are only 24 numbers available between the two clocks and therefore two letters had to be made from two letters. So Q is KW and X is KS. I was SO happy when I worked that out I just had to share. Good luck to EVERYONE who is entering this competition - no matter how you get there!

    Thanks OingoBoingo :D

Just in case anyone is curious, the question relates to the chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster during the 20th century.

    1. Hon. Edwin Samuel Montagu 3 February 1915 - 25 May 1915

    2. Winston Churchill 25 May 1915 - 25 November 1915

    3. Herbert Samuel 25 November 1915 - 11 January 1916

Opps, sorry I forgot I'm not intelligent enough to work these questions out for myself. :p

  • I'm new to this forum, I've been answering these quesitons unaided, but stumbled across thsi whilst looking for the answers to day 17... I dont really agree with the answer sharing, but the point I singned up to the forum to make is...

How did OingoBoingo manage to read the question, search for the answer and post on here, all within 2 minutes of the question being released? I mean either this person is ridiculously good at their interent searching (I found the result having trawled through the wiki page on Winston Churchill), is incrediablly good at their history (especially recognising their Lancaster Dukes)

    OR...

    theres something perculiar going on...

    just wondering...?

Well Mr Benn - I think you have a point there. How did Oingoboingo get the answer so quickly?

    a) Does he work for the Guardian and has all the answers already?
    b) Or perhaps work for Damien Hirst and as Cestlavie suggests this thread is all part of the game and might be used as background texture in some artful comment on competitive behaviour in the 21st century?
    c) Or is just so brilliant that he can even guess the questions before they are set?

Anyway whatever or whoever you are, all this has made me smile. (Oh and I can't win even though I have sometimes looked on here for answers - as my internet connection went down for 24 hours and I missed Beethoven)
