Well they seem to be rolling this survey out in batches as I just ggot the invite this morning. Won't be doing it after reading this thread, though I probably wouldn't have anyway.

    Hi everyone.
I (and im guessing quite a lot of other lightspeed users) received an invite to take part in a "Nielson NetRatings", which places a program on your computer to track your web use. The rewards from lightspeed aren't bad (equiv to £5 every 3 months) so i was quite tempted. However a quick flick through the privacy policy but me off, and i thought i'd post here to warn people, bold parts are bolded because they dont seem to fall in line with what they claim to be doing:
we track the type, name and use of some of applications, files and hardware on your computer (including Microsoft Office, music and video files, and printers and routers), the address and content of the Internet sites you visit, the date and duration of the Internet sites you visit, the advertisements you receive or view, the Internet Service Provider you use, and the details of some types of transactions you enter into on the Internet (including during secure sessions).
information obtained may include some personal financial and/or transactional information, including the products you purchased, the price you paid and the credit card you used
    :S
other companies and individuals to perform certain functions on our behalf, such as data processing, managing the incentives we provide to panelists or contacting panel members about their membership status. Such companies or individuals may be provided with access to your personal data needed to perform their specific functions
export this personal data to Nielsen group affiliates and data processors authorized by Nielsen, both inside and outside the European Union, including the United States, India and other locations where Nielsen does business

The main one that worries me is that they store credit card information, and also that they track all your applications, not just web use. They then export this outside the UK and although they assure it will be kept safely, i'm a bit nervous about this happening. Of course they may be a totally legitimate survey company, but they store a little too much information for my taste, and the main point: more than their main pages suggest they do.

Thank you darkfish:T. Another time where I should have read the info before doing something  I just saw the amount of points awarded and went for it, but luckily for some reason it would not download the software. I sent an e mail this morning explaining this, but have had no reply. Thank goodness it didn't and I read this first. I will now not be installing it. I read some of the info and it seemed to suggest it just tracked what advertisers you visited, not banks and stuff. So once again thanks, mse to the rescue again
Be thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)

You should be able to see it in Control Panel> add/remove programs, if you are using XP. If it's there just remove it.

I used to run this application but got fed up with it nagging you every time you came back to the computer after making a cup of coffee.

The rewards weren't that good either.
