or if you don't want to give all your information to a German company that isn't covered by the UK data protection act, download it.

If you want to give all you rinformation to a German company that isn't covered by the UK data protection act download it.

The company that Lightspeed have partnered with for this are Nurago.

according to their website their software does the following:-

so not only do they know what you're looking at. THEY CAN CHANGE IT AS WELL.

Do you fancy letting them tap your phone lines too? let them listen to every word you are saying?
I felt abit wary of putting this on my computer, and if you are right i am glad i didnt, apart from anything else ,imo they dont give you enough points for so much invasion (altho if people on here are happy thats up to them) but its not for me.!!!

It looks as if what they are doing is very similar to what Phorm / Webwise wanted to do, BT only recently passed on taking up their version to this after a great deal of contoversy.

currently the European parliament are looking into things like this because they class an IP address as an identifiable piece of personal information (every computer has an individual ip address) and therefore the information stored leads to quite a good profile of the person / people using the computer.

also, if using this program online, by using something to manipulate online websites (as mentioned in my post at the top of the page) you may actually be breaking the terms and conditions of the website you are visiting, and may leave yourself open to prosecution.

would you let someone open all of your post, to see what kind of mail you are getting...

it's a very similar thing but online.

the privacy statement is a whole two sentences. NOT ENOUGH FOR THE INFORMATION THEY ARE RECEIVING.

    Nod,
Your bang on the money ...... have your mail delivered to your neighbour and give them a kettle too to steam it open ........

It is Spyware like this that will see that internet surfing becomes chargeable one day ........in the same type of fashion thatwill see you have to register the sites you visit and pay a bundle price (like cable tv)...... censorship on the horizon and being fought in Canada
    The years starts today ....

Seems I am not alone in how I felt about the software issue- I thought about it, then saw the pittiful amount of points offered in comaprison (if it had been £10 a day I may have come to a different conclusion).

I can see this being used instead of surveys- if they want my details, they need to ask me exactly what first, not spy on me!

Just uninstalled the software. Didn't really have concerns over privacy, since I only do work related surfing and MSE on my PC (for all other surfing I use my laptop :D), but since installing, opening up a webpage just got slower and slower...seems fine now that it's gone.

Umm'd and aah'd about whether to download their program but decided not to in the end - it'd be like having some stranger peeking over your shoulder - besides, I do a lot of banking etc online and the very idea of a little *thing* having a good look isn't very comforting - personally, they've got a bloomin' cheek to ask us to do this - and all for a measly 100 points too. If they want the names of specific websites I visit - then fine, they can have a list...but they ain't getting my passwords, user names, numbers etc - cheeky blighters!!

  • Well that's worried me a bit. I am not sure how to uninstall it. I will have to ask me ds when he comes home. I don't think I like the sound of it too much. Thanks all.

After reading all your comments on here, I am glad I decided not to take up their offer - doesn't seem enough points to me for the invasion and trouble!
