Phew! I've just uninstalled this software. I wish I had read the previous comments before I installed it.

About the digital club......im looking through the digital club terms and conditions, and have come across some comments from other lightspeed members and answers from lightspeed:

does this site get acess to personnel data ie passwords etc
The terms and conditions don’t make it clear what information is being collected and make any statements about data security.
    Please can you clarify.

Gacela collects information related to the way you use the Internet. It collects mainly the URLs you are visiting so that we can understand web advertising. It doesn’t collect any computer information, any nominative information and there is no possibility for Gacela to identify you as a person.

I have read all the infomation given, but it does not talk about colecting information from online banking sites, am I safe using this and using my online banking at the same time?
    Thank you for your time.

All sites starting with HTTPS are not tracked at all. Usually, online banking sites are starting with HTTPS. No data are collected at all.
I am wary. How do we/you know no personal imformation is not taken?

Lightspeed Research is partnering with Nurago/Gacela and we have run several projects with them and with the members of the Lightspeed Consumer Panels. We have extensively tested the application and we can confirm that no personal information is collected.

    hi
if its discovered that people personal details are been tracked what are the consequences?

      Hi,
Gacela can not “read” through secured protocol i.e. https. So this situation can not happen.
      Thanks,

This may well be a coincidence but i now have a high-risk trojan on my computer, Spyware Dr has just informed me- its one thats attempting to steal passwords. I am very careful with what i usually download and scan everything to double check so its seems strange that 24 hours after i have taken this program off i now have this when i haven't downloaded any other app or program for about a week.
(i only installed it yesterday morning and by last night had had enough of it making my computer crawl along and uninstalled it).

Incidently, i had a reminder email from Lightspeed today about this Digital Club and they have now changed the wording from '100 points to install the software on your computer' to '100 points to install the software on your computer and keep for a minimum of 7 days'. I will be checking my account monday to check they are credited as when i originally installed it they did not impose a condition of 7 days.

Yes, I noticed the change in terms too. I didn't keep it for 7 days since it was slowing down my computer, but downloaded it when the first email went around without the 7 day requirement. Will be checking too, but will be suprised if they're credited!

If it collects mainly the URL's, then what else does it track....?

and the "no possiblity for Gacela to identify you as a person." bit us under debate in the European Parliament as we speak...

    Hi everyone.
I (and im guessing quite a lot of other lightspeed users) received an invite to take part in a "Nielson NetRatings", which places a program on your computer to track your web use. The rewards from lightspeed aren't bad (equiv to £5 every 3 months) so i was quite tempted.

I must be greedy! The low rewards were enough to make my mind up, before I had even contemplated what it was they wanted on my computer! £5 every 3 months (or about 5p a day) to me is not worth the hassel or installing anything!

Never download anything on to your computer unless you need the program and it is your decision to put it on your computer. I'm definitely NOT going to be taking part in the Digital Club.

I HAVE downloaded the Lightspeed Digital software GACELA and my advice is......DON'T DO IT! It messes with IE something crazy, makes the pages jump around anytime you click on anything and logging on to the PC from scratch takes about ten times as long.:mad::mad:

I am running Vista Business with IE 7, so it may be different for others, but it basically messed things around so bad I immediately uninstalled it. Even so, it still took a few reboots before everything came back as before, nearly had a heart attack, thought I was going to have reinstall Windows or restore back to yesterday or something, luckily it didn't come to that.

I also downloaded the Nielsen software and that gave no problems to my PC at all, but I have now uninstalled it because the incentive is rubbish. You get 3 chances to enter a prize draw which you probably won't win, and to enter to have to take time out to play their stupid games. NOT worth it IMHO. :(
