mummysaver i do hope they get to the bottom of your problem soon, without having to poke more needles in you
Wsybil are you feeling any better? have you managed to downgrade your illness yet
poor LB its horrible for him having a sore bottom and explosive nappies  I remember it well with my two girls
Beth its a hard decision ( which you really shouldnt be in the position to have to make again) you want to do all you can for both DD's but being there for emotional rather than financial support may be better in the long run, sometimes there are no easy ways out ,but thats how we learn (hopefully) (((hugs))) to you not an easy time at all x
AussieLass you've got me singing that now and I dont even know the tune  :rotfl:
going to put the washing on the line, shape some bread and its feet up and a cup of tea0 -
Thanks for all the hugs and positive chat. OH landed 10mins ago  :j :T Happy happy days. what a relief. Still getting pangs off sadness when i think about those poor families.
I am going to spoil him rotton when he gets back *trots off to buy copious amounts beer..;)
Thanks again, you are all super wonderful people:ASpreading the gospel that is Martin Lewis to the future generation....I'm a Home Economics Teacher and being thrifty is the way!:A0 -
Snoozer - ouch, hope you eye isnt too painful.
Smokey - have a fantastic time, you too PP.
I am quite pleased with myself today, have cleaned the kitchen windows and blinds (a much hated job) and the hob and extractor, cleaned the work surfaces and washed the floor so am happy at that. Have done some essential office work and now off to clear my ironing basket! (for today at least). The sun has just come out and its lovely now so if I get the ironing done in good time will take the dogs for a long walk over the fields.0 -
Good Afternoon Chums ,
blooming nippy here in Kent, the wind fair slices through you today. Went and got my shopping and dropped repeat script off at DRS.Then jumped on the bus, and took myself down to Hempstead Sava Centre to buy a birthday present for my DD's M-i-l.
Just walking back to the bus stand, and as I was passing BHS was accosted by sales staff trying to get folk to sign up to a c/card at 18.9%.I thought the idea was to stop folk getting credit not encourage them to get more .I told the lass I wasn't interested, and she said "But you could save 20% on all you buy today"
' But I don't want to buy anything thank you' I replied
She stomped off, very huffily saying 'You just can't help some folk these days':rotfl: :rotfl: She couldn't see that by getting into debt she wasn't helping me at all.
Bought a lovely bit of angus steak for a treat for dinner tonight that was reduced down in Sainsbobs.Have you seent the price of fresh tomatoes I nearly fell over in M&S's at 6.99 a kilo. Needless to say I never bought them. M&S's stuff is good, but not that good.Got four in Sainsburys for less than a quid.I don't eat a lot of fresh toms so I only buy a few at a time.No point me buying lots as they would go off.
I have a nice banana custard for pudding tonight, as I made double yesterday.
Only just over two weeks before I go off to the Derbyshire Dales for a week so I shall start scaling down my fresh shopping next week.
Right I'm off now to sort out some veg to go with my steak possibly some new pots and some salad. I have a lovely crunchy celery in the fridge so some of that will get chucked in as well. What are we all going to do over the week-end with the site closed ? I shall do some spring cleaning I think
<hugs to all in need>
Cheers chums
JackieO xx
P.S. Glad to hear your OH is O.K. Hockey was thinking of you when I heard the news & Smokey have a wonderful time with your children you deserve a break.I hope the weather is kind to you all0 -
Afternoon all,
it is absolutely lovely here, washing drying beautifully on line, doors and windows wide open, really cheers you up.
HockeyDuo - make the most of having him home and spend some quality time together - things like that tragedy make you really appreciate your loved ones!
Beth - my DD1 was the same at one point, we bailed her out quite a few times but came to the point where we couldn't do it anymore. We got in touch with a debt councillor and now (3 years on) is practically debt free and organises her money much better than she ever did. It is hard to say no to them but sometimes it works out for the better when they realise they have to face up to the mess they are in and sort it out.
Diva sorry to hear you are not feeling tip-top, hope it soon passes and you feel happier tomorrow.
Stef - well done on the job and Katie don't try to do too much too soon - take it easy.
I have finished cleaning the house, bm on, tea is going to be HM beefburgers and potato wedges (which will disappoint DD2 - who want spag bol, but weather just too nice for big tea!)
Going to surf the net for a while before the hungry hoardes arrive home (well not so much hoardes as it will just be OH and DD2!)
Have a nice evening everyone
xx"Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you are up to........"Dieting ........... is no piece of cake!!!!:D

Glad your OH is home safe :j Hockeyduo
I think it's amazing Beth is helping her kids out like that. My mum was a single parent and ran up a lot of debt, some of it even in my name when i was old enough.
I ran up credit card debts but manager to pay them off myself. Last Jan, i went to 4 days a week because of ill health and lost my sales bonus so had to live on basic salray reduced, with no sales bonus! Until last november i continued to live on my old salary - outside my means. I took a mortgage holiday and managed to pay the £1200 overdraft off at the end of February this year. I never would have dreamed of telling my mum or asking for help with it - much as she would have wanted to give it to me, truth is im much more financially astute than her, and it only would have worried her. So i took it on the chin and sorted it out myself.
I found out 7 days after clearing my od, that im possibly going to be made redundant later in the year so am hoping the chaos doesnt again descend on my bank account again
Our jobs are guaranteed until september, so between now and then, i have to now save as much as possible to try to build up a redundancy fund, just in casey.
Such is life i guess. The point was it's awesome you are helping her and she trusts you to tel you. I would worry slightly that she may become over reliant though - what's to stop her doing it all over again? Where do you draw the line? I've never h ad the option of asking parents for help like that so I guess it's alien to me slightly.
Gorgeous day in Belfast, someone said its 17 degrees!?!A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

So glad your son is back safely.
Hockey
Terrible news about the helicopter but pleased your OH is safe.
Was not on the thread yesterday as still felt a bit wierd- DH has just started to sneeze- hope he has not caught whatever it was.
Three loads of washing are out on the line and have cleaned the gas hob which was in a right state.
Pizza dough is in the breadmaker so will make two huge pizzas for tonight.
Just had a phone call from the estate agents and have a viewing on Saturday afternoon - fingers crossed but not gettng my hopes up as we have heard nothing from the people who viewed in January and they "raved" about the house saying it was the nicest one they had seen.
It would be incredible if we could get moved by the Summer or Autumn.Mind you I thought that two years ago!!!
Hugs to everyone
Going to wrestle with the huge pizza dough!"This site is addictive!"

Sybil - hope LB and you soon upgrade your health to superb! I think it's lovely when you just write that you've been on a walk together, you have come so far - and though that sounds condescending on the screen it isn't meant that way, I really am pleased for you xx
Beth - you must feel like strangling her! My suggestion for what it's worth would be to help her negotiate minimum repayment terms with everyone she owes money, credit cards will often let you freeze the amount owed if that is their only chance of getting it back, that's if the new card won't accept all the debt. Then I'd make her pay it back herself, perhaps agreeing to help her whilst she doesn't have a job? But if I was paying some back for her I would want to see her bank statements every week. She needs to realise that as a grown up she is responsible for herself.
Smoky - your holiday sounds as though it will be wonderful, and what a fantastic surprise for the children, may the sun shine on you all!
Snoozer - hope all the pains subside soon.
Marie - hope lunch was lovely.
Lamewolf - look after yourself and I hope that tomorrow you are feeling more rested and ready to go, enjoy the opera!
Well my afternoon hasn't been particularly os, just pottered really, guess it all gets done eventually whether I go fast or slow! Thanks Cas, and everyone else, I hope that it's all sorted soon and things are back to normal, not much else they can ask me to donate other than a limb!
Looking forward to a nice evening with the kids, just catching up and watching a film together later. xx
Edit: Elona I shall keep everything crossed for your viewing tomorrow!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Beth - You sound like such a brilliant mum, your daughter can turn to you. You can see so many threads on these boards where that is just not possible.
Little bear is still on fast forward. I've lost count of the number of times I have changed him - often the nappy could have been left as not soiled, but an airing and a play on the changing mat and fresh application of the white stuff won't hurt. Hope this is not tmi but yesterday evening it was a runny bum. Now it is an upset tummy and a sore bum, which has helped.
And just as I thought I was picking up from this dratted bug, it has gone into my ears. If the world hasn't stopped spinning tomorrow I am going to have to go to the Drs.
Elona - there have been some dreadful bugs around.
Well, so far not so good, the kitchen is slightly cleaner, and I am about to start thinking about what on earth I am going to do with the baked pots.
However, wanted to log on just in case and say Hugs to all over the weekend, have a good one and look forward to 'seeing' you all after the shut down.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0
