Hi, this is the Daily Thread for April 2st 2009. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!
Morning. Looks to be another nice day.
My left arm is rather sore today after the doc removed some moles from under my arm yesterday. Just a bit of local and burned them off. Trouble is, it's now very sore.
Son is 18 today, so he has a choice of tea tonight and pressies of course. I think he is going out on friday with his mates, first drink! yeah right?
He wants steak for tea, so got to hunt about for a good deal.
Planted my peas last night and melons and squash. The greenhouse will be rather full soon, Just hope we get the nice weather to get it all outside before it outgrows the pots.
Petrol taxed gain. What is this Government doing to us? We are all suffering so they tax the fuel again.. Sooner out the better!
Have a nice day folks,

Morning peeps
Tired Mum - I hope that you managed to get some rest last night ((((HUGS))))
This is my last shift before two days off :j can`t wait to get home, i plan on drilling the holes in my new square foot gardening tubs. I have enough soil/ vermiculite etc to fill 4 of them and the other two can catch up later.
I have swede growing in large pots which are now about 18" tall  i`m not sure whether to plant them out or leave them - we seem to have caterpillars already and some of them are huge compared to the tiny things that were about last year.
I have lots of tubs and troughs to clean out and i`ve made a start on the solar lights although they may need new batteries this year.
I woke extra early today and had the food processor chugging away in the kitchen at 4ami`ve made an enormous batch of salad for later and i may make potato salad when i get home - i think that there are just enough potatoes left. The yogurt maker is on so i shall make cheese this afternoon too, i hung the washing on the line a while ago so that should be just right for ironing although i shall sort through to see if any bits can be put away without bothering as i`m not an ironing fan at all
DH will be emptying the bm and the dw around now and walking the houndies afterwards so lots of things taken care of early today.
I shall pop back later to catch up.
Have a lovely day everyone.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -

Hello everybody,
I didn't go shopping/library in the end today. It's been pelting with rain since the early hours and it hasn't stopped. DH has just taken photo's of the house behind us. They have a swimming pool for a yard.I'll post them once I download them. Had 6 inches of rain today already. It's been a real tucked into bed with a book day. So why fight it.
I also watched Walk the Line dvd. I can't stop singing.
I fell in to a burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down and the flames went higher.
And it burns, burns, burns the ring of fire the ring of fire.
Tired Mum Thanks goodness it all ended well.
Well I hope you get more done than me today. Back later with the photo's. <hugs> to those not well. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Morning,
N9eav - Hope the mole removal is soon more comfortable.
Tired Mum - Hope you managed to sleep and that things are better today.
Going out today for a mooch round town & the library and some ironing to do so a fairly easy day :T ((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))) to anyone who needs them.0 -
Morning All
Happy 18th Master N9eav
Didnt get on here yesterday so hope all is well - sounds like you had a trauma tho Tiredmum?
Busy yesterday running errands and such like. Today not as bad but still busy. Need to go & post my Dads birthday card special delivery & buy some new pots as like Sunnyday we are having potato salad today with roast chicken. (one of my bargain M&S chickens)
Want to spend a couple of hours in the office then a couple doing housework and ironing, hopefully the weather will be like yesterday which was beautiful.
Need to get planting some seeds, will go and get some compost weekend and do it then, always later than I want to be but OH has been doing the garden again (moving our vegetable planters and concreting).
Big dog is not in my good books as he has eaten his bed, think little dog helped him, need to hunt down some old blankets as I will not be wasting my money again on a new bed.
Off now, need to make lunches.
Have a great day.

Morning all
Work all day today, chlli for dinner tonight.
Just wanted to pop on to say how pleased I was to see that Tired Mum's lad came home safe and sound. See, I told you he would come back when he was hungry, his tummy must have been rumbling by 10 last nightLets hope the chat by the police prevents him from doing something like that again. That must have been the longest couple of hours of your life.
Hugs to all xxx0 -
Morning all,it's a beautiful day today.Warm and sunny already, makes you feel glad to be alive.
I'm going to stay in and just potter about today and do all the little things you keep forgetting to do.I've got a list as long as my arm.
Don't know what I'll be having for dinner but OH asked for bread and butter pud for afters.

We have decided to leave today for a few days at friends chalet. DD went into school first thing as she has an exam during first period, then we are collecting her and be on our way. Our friends are coming up tomorrow...I am looking forward to it. Have managed to squirrel away £150 but that is too include everything:eek:   ...DD has her pocket money and granparents gave her £20, so shes ok. Know some cheap places and free. Can get a fresh bowl of soup, roll, butter and a fresh coffee for 99p:j :j :j
Just waiting on nurse to come.
OH passed his level 1 sign language...I cant remember if I said before. My memory is so bad.
Anyway, I have alot to do, but just wanted to say "hi" to everyone. I have my mobile dongle, so will pop on later.

Tiredmum So pleased that he came home of his own accord, kids can be very inconsiderate as to the upset they cause at times. I second what everyone else has said, stay strong with your punishment and hopefuly the chat wih the police wil hav brought home to him how serious his aions were. ((((hugs)))) to you and hope you managed to get some sleep.
I feel drained this morning so will be doing as ltle as possible todayEgg and chips for tea, been craving this for about a week and is one of those teas OH will only have once every now and then  Weather looking a bit overcast but have a load ready to go out on line once I have managed to drag myself upstairs to get dressed!
(((hugs))) to all who need em, off to get another brew
