Morning all!
Grey here, but still nice and dry, so will take the dog for a quick walk, quick being the operative word as he is definitely overweight! And the walk will do me good and stop me seizing up, the consultant stuck a very large needed into me yesterday for more samples, and whilst it's not as sore as I expected I think it's best to keep moving, sitting isn't very comfy! Still it was more good news, they haven't food anything wrong yet, which also means that they don't know what's caused the high platelets, but at least I don't seem to have anything really awful, always good to rule out the worst case!
OS today will involve housework and more housework, seems to be dd3's pressies and odd bits of wrapping paper and cards all over the place from yesterday! Bless her, she really enjoyed her day, even going to school! She was given loads of attention and came home laden with presents - the perfect day when you've just turned 8! Will also be doing some cooking, where oh where does all the food go!
Popped into Morrisons yesterday, top rump was the same price as brisket, so got a piece of both, rump is in the freezer and brisket will be pot roasted in the moski for dinner on Sunday I think. Also got another pork hock, kids love it done in rolls, so that'll be Saturday's lunch! Oh and found salmon trimmings, huge amount for 56p, couldn't believe the price, all it needs is the bones taking out and there are two tail fillets, both quite fat! I shall be buying my salmon for cooking like that from now on, great for adding to fish pies or making tarts. I pretty impressed by the meat in Morries, perhaps cos the instore butcher and fishmonger prepare the stuff that's put on the shelves generally, so the quality seems better than the usual supermarket fare.
Oh and in case anyone else has a lock n lock obsession like mine, they also had their own version for half price, grabbed a few more for the freezer.
Lunch today for the kids was hm pasties/sausage rolls, choc biscuit, apple, hm yoghurt and raisins.
Dinner will be quorn cottage pie - thanks for the inspiration taplady! My menu plan is still awol, but I still have the food in, so have a vague idea of what I'm meant to be cooking! Will be served with some nice green beans that are lurking in my freezer. Pud will be apple and blackberry crumble - dd1 is making it at school, teacher suggested a tin of fruit pie filling, dd told her that her mother had a freezer full of stuff so she'd be using that! I should imagine the teacher felt like bashing her lol! Still it is lovely to be able to stock up when blackberries and apples are growing locally and for free, and have enough to keep you going over the winter.
N9eav - happy birthday to your ds! Some lovely steak in Morries if you don't have time to get to a butcher.
Gonzo - hope the tango-ed effect wears off soon! Clarins do a pretty good version - and they're always good with giving out samples, worth trying several brands if you can get samples, Lancome is my preferred one, pricey but at least I know it works!
Aussie - thanks, and now guess what I'm humming lol!
Pen pin - congrats to your dh, and it's lovely to hear you sounding so perky, I hope you have a lovely lovely break and rest.
jovichick - egg and chips is my favourite, closely followed by beans on toast, I love them, who needs sophisticated lol!
Floss - glad nothing too awful occured on the train, always unpleasant when the "odd" person sits near you.
Csarina - good luck with the continuing move!
Tired mum - not read back yet, but assume that your ds went awol, glad he is safe. My lot have it continuously drilled into them that their phones are for my benefit and not theirs, and that I have to be able to get hold of them at any time, doesn't always work, but I think they prefer to go along with me rather than put up with my nagging. It must've been horribly worrying for you though, hope he is suitably contrite!
Hockeyduo - I thought of you as soon as I heard the news, and my heart goes out to all those families. My uncle used to be a helicopter pilot on the oil rigs and I can remember a few tense times as a kid.
Going to try and catch up on yesterday now, then get on with all the things that I'm meant to be doing! Including putting some seeds into the gaps in the front garden!

Expect regular five minute sanity savers on here - little bear is not his usual sunny self.
nic1lou2 - I have really only had nappy rash from him when he was teething before, and he has always made a big deal for every tooth - temperature, nappy rash, turbo charge... he would spin it out for weeks, then the next one would start. He is 27 months old now, so it could be a tooth at the back. I need to try and persuade him to take Calpol. He has only really accepted Medised, but that has now been upgraded to only over six, which panics me that I was (on the advice of the health visitor) giving him it at four months :eek::eek:
HockeyDuo - thinking of you and your dear heart.
Evil cat is a bit off colour as well. Now, I am feeling better but still look like I have been in the spin drier once too often, little bear has an iffy nether end, evil cat is not her normal malevolent self - and while dear heart was healthy up to last night his work is so busy that he is coming home in a worse state than me. I think I should paint a big red cross on the door!
Five minutes is more than up - off to check on little bear and his icky end and try and get some washing on.And sincere apologies to all who really have had far too much information on little bear's fundamental focus.

Hi all,
Tired Mum, i truly empathise - I remember DD going missing once on a visit to my parents (an area she didn't know at all) when she was about 12 - she came sauntering up the road after a few hours with a boy she'd met!!
PP hope you have a lovely break.
OS wise this week I managed to do some batch cooking after work on Tuesday, but that's about it.
Niggling worry about my dad - he went for an MRI and CT scan on Monday after his chemo and radiotherapy and yesterday the hospital rang to bring forward his appt to see the consultant from next Tuesday to today. Keep telling myself that they wouldn't have done that if it was really bad news but it's still a concern.
I'm also worried about our dog, who has been off her food for a couple of days and doesn't seem herself - I'll have to take her to the vet if she doesn't eat tonight.
Hugs to all.

Morning all,
Haven't been here for a while, I've been a bit busy. Tues cheese & wine do went very well, all had a good time, the last person left at 2.40am. By the time I had put food away and tidied up a bit it was 3.30am before I got to bed and was up due to body clock at 6am.
Yesterday DD1 came to have a "chat" she has been chasing every Teaching job going but is stuck with having to do supply work which is sporadic.
Out came her book of incomings and outgoings along with her credit cards statements. Almost broke my foot when my jaw hit it. DH & I cleared 10k of her debts 4yrs ago. She now owes £15k.
I got her to apply there and then online for the B/card that does balance transfers at a fixed rate of 6.8% for life of account and she was accepted but wont find out how much she can transfer until the card comes through. At the mo she is paying 19% on her HSBC card and 38% on Virgin.
Another alternative is for her to go bankrupt but don't want DGD1 (15yrs) to have to suffer, or we clear it off AGAIN.
Don't know what to do.
How can 2 DD's be so opposite in everyway.
DD2 and baby Charlotte came in the afternoon and lightened the atmosphere, I deserved an Oscar for my acting out all was well, but I'm sure DD2 picked up on something. I am at my wits end.
I cooked them & DH c&o omelettes and jackets for lunch then fed our DGD2 who now weighs 7lb 10ozs.
BM has finished and a line of washing out. Have some lamb shanks in SC and a pile of ironing to do.
I haven't caught up since Tues a.m. but gather that TIRED MUM is in need of a (((((((((hug)))))))))))) are you now AKA as WORNOUT MUM? Take care.
(((((((((( JACKIO, PENPIN, SMOKY ))))))))))))))
CANDYGIRL, any news on the baby front yet? ((((hugs))))0 -

It was sunny here but its gone very dull now, never mind it will probably cheer up later
WM done its stuff, DW emptied, need to go get something done in the garden all I need now is a bit of enthusiasm
N9eav - Happy 18th birthday to your son, first drink eh hmmm yes been there with my 2, they do tend to... errm over-indulge at first but a couple of times with 'head down the loo' soon cured them :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
tired mum - So pleased your DS is home again and ok, what an awful few hours you must have had,(hugs) My DS2 went off once (20 years ago)it was dreadful, when he did come home I did'nt know whether to hug him or slap him. But just so relieved to see him back, he never got away with it though he was punished.
Pen-Pin - have a lovely time relaaaaxxx and enjoy the break x
HockeyDuo - what a relief glad he is ok (((HUGS)))for you, and his colleagues families, how sad for them x
Snoozer - hope your dad is ok
Katie - glad you're feeling a bit better today, dont overdo it but enjoy your day
nic1lou2 - ooo you really know how to push the boat out :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Beth - we have been in the same position with DS1, years ago, but he was single then. We just couldnt affording to keep bailing him out, so OH sat him down and gave him a good talking to, and cut all his cards up. It took time and a few more small handouts but he got himself sorted. Its very difficult though to say NO the bank of Mum and Dad is now closed. x
(((((((((hugs))))))))) for all in need today
Quick lunch today something on toast, we are off to see our DGS this afternoon :j

Now feeing awful. I managed to trip on the stairs up to my office and measured my length on the landing. When my face hit the floor my glasses must have dug into my face and I have a spectacular cut in the corner of my eyelid. Had butterfly stitches applied by the nurse at the drs but it's now starting to throb like mad. All my other assorted aches and scrapes from the fall are starting to come out now as well.
I am so clumsy - I rang dd to tell her and all she said was "was it as spectacular as your fall in Rome" the answer was not - I count myself lucky that that fall wasn't captured on video or it would have been a cert for "You've been Framed"0 -
taplady - have fun washing the dogs, thats a chore I leave to OH.
It takes both of us as they aren't very keen - we'll all end up having one as usual I expect:D
(((hugs))) hockeyduo -
snoozer - hope your dad's appointment goes ok - and that you feel ok after your fall x plus hope your dog is not poorly.
There's been mention of egg and chips here today - guess what I fancy for lunch!:D had already decided when I read the thread - great minds think alike;)Do what you love :happyhear0
