Following comments hereabouts I'd planned to switch from TalkTalk as I was on the Talk 2 tariff at £4.25 a month which gives me free evening and weekend landline calls whereas One-Tel would charge no monthly fee. Anticipating a hassle over changing to a new supplier, I was pleasantly pleased when TalkTalk immediately agreed to waive the monthly fee (reviewed in 12 months). So the plan is to use 18866 for daytime calls and TalkTalk for evenings and weekends. I've also ordered an Orchid V4 Dialler.
regards

1. Is the (normally quite small) saving worth the effort/possible pitfalls?
2. Although some of the 'new line providers' include in their T&Cs clauses which appear to prohibit subscribers using other carriers for their calls, some don't. However, regardless of whether they currently do or don't, none are bound to allow such use (only BT is).
It'll come as no surprise to readers to learn that I'm allowing BT to continue supplying and maintaining my line (despite the fact that I consider the cost to be ridiculously high).
I was with BT before, line rental, OneTel Internet conection, and I was very disappointed with BT. They were not helpful at all. OneTel, they were really nice, but now I'm with NTL & I am quite happy! :j0 -
Hopefully this is the correct chat forum - if not please would someone move it to appropriate one? Thanks
Does anyone know of a cheap way to call Patientline numbers? My mother is in the hospital and although she may be worth it - they charge 50p  per minute to her bedside. Any information would be useful.... Thanks in advance... all Patientline numbers number start with 070464.....0 -

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=61118Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

To save you ploughing through the other thread here are the cheapest options, for dialling 070 personal numbers
1.If you use 1899 its 15p a min .
2.If you use 18866 its 20p a min.
3.If you dont have either of the above. You can dial the access number
0911 501 41 41 for 15p a min from a landline. You then dial the 070 no you are calling. The disadvantage of this is that you start paying straight away, and if you dont get through ,eg no engaged, you still pay.(Min Call Charge Applys) Whichever of these ways you use considerable savings can be made, against the normal 49p peak.39p offpeak.PF.0 -
Hi, does anyone use JustDialSaver package which includes free evening and weekend calls for no monthly fee - there doesn't seem to be anyone else offering this at the moment.
Also - if you use BT Call Minder (Premier or otherwise) and you switch call provider - do you have to then use their equivalent Call Minder service, or do you stay with BT for that?? Thanks in advance!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Its a new one on me part of OneTel/Centrica. No bills sent out all managed online.£1 to answer an e-mail if the answer is shown on there site.
Tele 2 are also doing the free weekend/evening call offer till the end of 2005.
If you move your line rental i think you have to take the new providers Call Minder service. But if you just CPS you can keep BT,s.PF.0 -
