Fran, thanks for the reply. Your saying i dont fit into the low user category ?
Ive actually signed up for talk talk low user plan (no monthly charge) and signed up for 18866 service also, do you think i should change the talk talk service plan ?

With bt i was on 'together option 1', the talk talk 'talk 1' package is compared to that bt service.

    thanks

I'm glad I saw on here about the 1280 number to enable you to bypass Talk Talk and use the BT inclusive minutes (until July). My Talk Talk was activated on 13 April and obviously their welcome letter/cost of calls information didn't mention it. Neither did the letter from BT acknowledging that I was transferring all calls to CPS.

How did other Talk Talk customers find out about 1280?

Its not in either TalkTalk's nor BT's interest in letting you know about this.

When I signed up for talktalk over a year ago, they told me in their letter that I could dial 1280, and the call would be routed though to them.....

I did hear that they had changed their letter though....

    Hope this helps.

Been reading posts etc and trying to work out best option for me.
My wife works away during the week so I reckon that TalkTalk no fee will be best for our daily natter (very little other usage) but we both need unlimited off peak internet access. Carphone Warehouse tell me that we can continue to use our current packages by preceding our dial up number with 1280.

Seems simple but being a cynical so & so I think it seems too simple and that there must be a catch somewhere. Can anyone tell me whether they are right?

Thanks in advance for any advice

What you have been told is correct.
Basically you will be set up at the exchange with something call carrier pre-select (CPS).
This means that any calls you make will now go via talk talk.
However 1280 is the manual override back to BT.

This is useful in a number of circumstances.
One of which is that currently there is a call allowance of £2.15 per month included with BT standard line rental (only before July 1st).
Many of us make sure we use this up before getting charged with talk talk.

I've signed up with Talk Talk and 18866, but have used neither yet as I have been using my minutes on the Orange/O2 400 mobile contract.

Who should I use to dial 0870, 0845 and 090 when I have no alternative?
  • Thanks a lot Lisyloo. :):)

At the moment I'm with BT Together Option 1. Much of my bill is made up of the internet. I'm with BT's Family and Friends and my Best Friend is my ISP. If I set up with Just Dial Saver should make my internet "calls" through them or reroute them to BT. Hope you understand what I mean

  • Hi
I have been using Telco Global for most of my home and mobile calls for sometime now. Telco have told me that their call rates are similar to Just Dial Saver as they are the same company. Could anyone confirm this for me??
P.S. I use BT as my home phone service provider and Orange for my mobile.
