Hey Rebe, I hope things get sorted for you one way or another. It sounds like it might be best if you look for a new job instead of putting up with a w anker like this (apols if you are, I've not read the whole thread).
I must admit I would love to know who and where this practice is. Is he registered with the General Dental Council? It's probably best if you don't name and shame on this forum at this stage tho.
Good luck. There is life after a c rap employer so try to keep that in mind if he does dismiss you.
(Employment tribunal for unfair dismissal anyone?!)0 -
Hi.. things got worse - he suspended me for gross misconduct, even though I had done nothin wrong, hence why I didn't leave because I wanted to prove that I was innocent in it all. But I think its for the best, I'm just waiting for him to dismiss me now (had my hearing on Monday)
I know some of the people that posted on here were very judgemental and really should have just stuck to the questions asked and just been supportive, after all thats what this site is for. x
What an idoit!! I would clear my name just for own personal peace of mind, but he cant give you a bad reference, although he can decline to give you a reference. I wish you all the best for the future and believe me you will feel ten times better when he is out of your hair!!:beer:0 -
I don't know how they can get away with this stuff. It's shocking.:rotfl:0

Just got an email, dismissing me for gross misconduct, I feel so relieved, I knew it was coming but feel great (initially) I think the sad fact that I'm not unemployed will set in soon, but doing my appeal letter then will be taking it to tribunal if that doesn't work.
I don't know how bosses get away with it either, its ridiculous!!0 -
but he cant give you a bad reference, although he can decline to give you a reference.
Has your boss said what the gross misconduct was? That's usually things like lying, stealing, swearing, fighting, although those are not exclusive. Not asking for holiday the way he wanted doesn't quite fall into that category ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
its based on the fact that my mum was a patient at the dental practice, then left and requested that all contact details removed - which was done and he's claiming that i'm depriving the practice of info etc. There are a few other little things similar but its all related to my mum - very conveniently!!0

Sort this out, clear your name. Show this guy to be the kingsized t*** he is - then tell him where to put his job.
Oh, and report him to the office responsible for dentistry.
As for his patients - local rag? Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

I know it has been said by many before but I'm going to add my name to the list - report him. I'd hate to see a good dentist out of the system as they are certainly hard to come by, but a good shock and severe warning sounds highly appropriate.
However, I would say the most important thing in all of this (for your own, long-term sake) is to keep your dignity. I don't doubt you will, your postings have been very rational given the provocation, but just don't do anything you may regret in the future as you are very vulnerable at the moment given you have just lost your job - regardless of anything that is going on outside of work. I'd say DON'T go to papers, DON'T go about bad-mouthing him - put in your grievance, go ahead with your case and move on to beter and happier things.
Good luck!0 -
Sorry to hear wht happened, keep your chin up and good luck with clearing your name!0
