Normally you have to sift through people's posts to find contradictions in their reasoning, to find a contradiction in the same post is a real surprise.0 -
I have to step in here. This person has come on to ask for advice about an employment problem, which this forum is for. They DID NOT ask for your personal opinions about their attitude (which they don't have).
Being told to change appearance because men are looking at them and requesting a holiday TWO MONTHS away is hardly having an attitude.
This person is clearly upset about the situation and from my experience seems to be experiencing symptoms of stress.
OP, please ignore this person, they are clearly exactly the same as your boss. If it was the other way round, they would too be upset.
Is there any update on your situation? Feel free to PM me.0 -

1) Appropiate dress sense is a matter for companies to deal with and if its not appropiate then yes it needs to be discussed
2) She did not request, she demanded it.
The person is upset because she isnt getting her own way, its the employer paying her to work not the other way round so she either does what they want or resigns.
Theres a difference between advice and just telling them what they want to hear.0 -
How on Earth is it her fault that men find her attractive???!!! Wearing plain work clothes is hardly inappropriate.
She is upset because her boss is clearly power mad and thinks they can treat her how they like. No one has any right to treat someone bad, no matter who employs who. Just because they are paying her, it doesn't mean they can treat her like they are.
This needs to return to the OP's topic and sensible advice given please. This is the Employment, Job Seeking and Training forum.0 -
Hi Rebe
I really empathise with you. I don't think you were unreasonable to ask to extend your holiday (especially over 2 months before you were due to go). And no employer should threaten redundancy over something as minor as an employee's hair. Your employer sounds like an insecure, sad little man who needs to bully employees to make him feel important. I wish you the very best of luck in finding another job very very soon, then you can resign. I've had my share of awful bosses, and the day you get shot of them is a very good day! Please don't let this man make your working life a misery, no-one deserves that. Keep you chin up, and let us know how you get on.0 -
It's ridiculous to threaten redundancy anyway for someone's hairstyle. You can only make someone redundant if their job no longer needs doing ...
The OP may have been in the wrong for 'demanding' an extra week. However, I personally feel that a reasonable employer would have said something like "We'll have to check whether that is possible" rather than gone off on one, especially given that plenty of notice has been given.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

I suspect your employers really could do without having to deal with your demands and attitude because you are demanding a holiday they dont want to give.
I suspect this forum (and of course the OP) could do without your arrogant, condescending and unhelpful attitude!
I do wish posters would confine themselves to answering questions based on the information given by the OP. Jumping to conclusion based on what you might possibly suspect (based on you own prejudice) does not hep anybody. Based on this thread and several others you are one of the worst offenders.0 -
Seriously, LinasPilibaitisisbatman never has a valid, helpful comment to make. Check out their previous posts - they just like to go into threads and stir things up. Sad, unnecessary and very childish.
OP, don't feel you need to justify yourself to anyone on here. You came for advice and I think you've got some good comments here. Ignore the rest, they're not worth your time. Hope you work out a solution.0 -
This has turned interesting.
I hope your situation changes soon.
Best of luck with your boss!

Finally something we agree on...yes they are my personal problems, but when one is in a work place they obviously leave personal things at home, yet when you have a boss talking to you like some !!!! they've walked in off the street, it creates things which are called emotions, which can only have a lid kept on for so long.
As for the demanding, you really should read things properly as thats not what I did.0
