Wow sooo many people have had children at a young age! I'm 22 and don't have any children. Neither myself or my partner can even imagine ever having a child. Does this feeling change when you get older?0

I was 29 when I had my first, 31 for the second and 37 when I had my third and last!!! TBH I've also found it a lot easier 3rd time around as well but that might be because I'm older and more confident than I was when I was younger. Also my 2 elder children fight like cat and dog all the time and theres only 22 months between them. I felt I'd only just recovered from having 1 baby when I found out I was pregnant for the second time and although I love all 3 of them dearly, its been incredibly hard going at times!!!loobylou2.Proud to be dealing with my debts and aiming to sort out the mess in 2013!!!!:eek:0

Well at first I was going to say yes, the yearning does increase as you age, particularly for women approaching 30, as the biological clock starts ticking. However all my male friends say that kids are not on their radar until post-30 and often instigated by a broody woman.
However, you said that you and your partner cannot ever imagine having a child, which is a very strong feeling. Experience and Hollywood movies tell me that if this is an honest assessment of how you both feel, the odds are that this feeling won't change or you haven't met the right person yet.
There is a belief that if you're with your dream match, you want to reproduce. Not sure how much I believe it personally, but I have seen it happen.0 -

The reason I say that we cannot ever imagine having a child is because we both said not so long ago that we have such a good time together (i.e can just drop everything and board a plane to somewhere hot and sunny) and don't really have anyone else to consider. I guess being in our early 20s and not having anyone dependant on us makes us somewhat selfish in that respect, but was just curious to see if anyone else had been in this mindset and changed their minds?0 -

Well, we were footloose and fancy free before having children, holidaying overseas several times a year. But from the moment we met (18/19) we both always said we wanted children.
I have a good friend exactly like you described who did change her mind. She always said "I'm too selfish to have children" and declared she didn't want any. However, I never believed her. I thought she was simply scared of what her long term partner might say. She now has one child and got married last year, with her 6 year old son as best man. It is quite telling that they only had the one (planned) child though, because life is definitely more flexible and adult-centric than when you tip the scales to 2+ children.:)0 -
