hi gemini, well done on coming off the meds, i am keeping my fingers crossed that the cough and the depression stays away from you
update on me, both lads now have a place of their own, and things are certainly different at home, the quiet is too much, and i am getting a couple of guinea pigs for some company, something i can hold, and stroke and talk to, without them answering me back
hugs all

Hi Shaz,I was wondering how you were getting along. It must seem strange without the boys, are they in supported housing? It will be a lot less stressful for you but s you say the quiet will take some getting used to.It is a good idea to get a pet .Have you thought of getting a cat or dog from a rescue?i know they are all full up because a lot of people cannot afford to keep them in the current climate.0

hi gemini, yes both boys are in supported housing, and they love it, but the quiet at home is awfully lonely at times.
i did think of getting a cat, but decided to get a couple of guinea pigs instead, i love knitting and i was worried the cat would end up unravelling it or something. guinea pigs dont bring home dead mice and birds either, much as i love cats i couldnt live with that.
daniel is sleeping at home tonight, which will prob seem strange for him, seeing as he hasnt slept in for 4/5 weeks, but we are going to brid tommorrow, and will make it easier in the morning, as he can be a monkey for forgetting to set alarm clock, and i'd have no way of waking him if he wasnt here, he seems happy to sleep here also
hugs

I have chronic reflux too that i've had to adjust my diet around. Do you feel you have a good diet and can you control it by diet?sock-knitter wrote: »hi gemini, well done on coming off the meds, i am keeping my fingers crossed that the cough and the depression stays away from you

Have you got your guinea pigs yet? I'd imagine it feels very strange right now without the boys.0 -
i got two baby girl guinea pigs on sunday, i've named they pip and squeak, they are lovely, unfortunatly i broke my wrist, so now i have to wait for someone to pick them up and place them in my lap before giving them a cuddle.
having op on wrist 1st thing in morning, have to be at hospital at 7.30 am.
very strange not having the boys here, its so quiet. feeling guilty about suffering from depression and the effect it must have had on my kids, as they were growing up.
last night one of lads tried harming himself, but was stopped by a staff member at the sapported housing where he lives. today at lunchtime he took an overdose, and is in hospital, no harm done this time, but they keeping him in for observation, as one of meds he took is a slow release one

Sorry to hear about the boys and your wrist. It doesn't rain but it pours.
Glad to hear you have Pip and Squeak. Hopefully they'll bring you some joy.0 -
son was out of hospital, and i came out this morning, have metal wires holding wrist bones in place, and a plaster cast to keep it straight til the bones heal
pip and squeak are so lovely, and each has its own personality. pip is very quiet and shy and usually hides, squeak is the noisy and nosey one, always likes to know what is happening
