gemini - what I said last night before my phone deleted it
Do you wake up in tthe night coughing or choking? I knew I had to do something after a few years of it.
Lowering your fat intake will help. It might cost a little more but it also saves on tablets and I feel a lot better. I eat low fat everything now - I still have treats, but they are the low fat alternatives. I don't eat bad things at all and most people can sort it via diet and hopefully you are as lucky as me.
Vegetables to me used to be once a week at best. I now eat them every day. I never eat pastries, I don't drink and all my crisps and chocolate, rare as it is, is Weight Watchers/Tesco light choices/ Shapers or other low fat brand. Non citrus fruits are good and there will be other things that vary from individual to individual. I don't drink caffeine at all now and just drink squash or fruit teas.
Some things still bother me but it's little bits of discomfort as opposed to the pain and clogging up I used to get. If you have something like Ham, you need to cut the fat off and generally just eat well. Your body will thank you for it and i'm so used to it now.
Many years ago I started drinking red top milk and once I ran out and the shop only had green. I got home and had some and nearly threw up the fat content was so different and it will be the same if I started eating Chicken in breadcrumbs/batter or full fat chocolate again. Cheese is also a nightmare - low fat or not.
You can eat well and enjoy eating still, but you have to be picky and have to be strict despite people saying "One piece won't hurt".
I wouldn't worry about eating after 8pm, just not a couple of hours before you go to bed. So if you go to bed at 2am, just stop eating at midnight and if you are really hungry, a dry biscuit like Rich Tea or crackers.
I also have breakfast - no bread as that kills, cereal in red top milk and my main meals are always vegetables with either beef, chicken or tuna. Potato is a rare addition.
You can't change overnight, but if you are struggling with any of the forms of Gastro Reflux, you probably need to and your body WILL thank you for it down the line.
Eating small and often is also vital. Too much in one serving also causes problems.
As I say, all full fat things and things like Pies and Burgers are a huge no no now and with all the gym work I do, I now have the right diet too and despite having big muscles I also had a fat belly and face. In the few months i've changed my diet to go along with the gym that i've always done, i've just about lost the belly and fat face and I feel more energetic than ever, which is great now I have a partner who has more energy than a class of kids put together.0 -
Hi
Just need some information. A lady i knew is asking if anyone knows the name of some medication which she belives are anti depressants which are small and pink and look like a sort of house shape. Shes quite old and frail so would appreciate any help.
TIA0 -
sorry cant help part mouse, my anti d's are small round and white
had to go back to hospital last night, my hand had really swollen and was changing colour. they saw me really quickly which was good, and cut the plaster cast in 3 places to extend it a bit, so it wasnt cutting into me anymore, then they've wrapped the cast in bandages so it is still held together to support my wrist
neither son has been to see me, let alone help out with household chores, my mum is brill, and been preparing meals. sons still ring asking my dad to give them lifts and borrow money, well my mum lost her temper yesterday, and let the lads know via a phone call, what she thought of them, how selfish they was etc
i ended up going to casualty by taxi last night as i was too scared to ask for a lift, parents are doing enough for me as it is, just wish my kids were as thoughtful

Hello all
Wonder if any of you remember me?
Welcome to any newbies
Alot has been happening, been travelling all over the world.
Sadly alot of other things have happened too - most of all my dear baby (my dog) died last year and I am still not dealing with the grief very well.
Miro - How are you doing? The cold days and the late nights are a looming, which can make things all more harder and colder .
Gemini - How are you? Missed you, and hope you are doing ok.x
Tiff - It sounds like you have had a hard time of it lately and that you are still reeling from the death of your mother and all the stresses that went with it. You are a bit like me - a sensitive soul, and you have a big heart. You would not also still be here after gone through all you have without having strength within you. Sometimes we can let things swallow us up, and it spirals deeper and deeper. Have you been able to talk to someone about your mothers death? Anything we keep inside is like a cancer it builds up and up until our bodies both mentally and physically just cant fight anymore, it is both draining and exhausting to carry such things within us for such a long time.
Lots of love to you all here

May your dreams come true and set you free :kisses3:

Hi Rose
Good to hear from you
Where have you been on your travels?
Sorry to hear about your dogI've lost 3 of my 5 cats in the last 2.5 years, so understand the grief well, unfortunately.
I'm not doing badly thanks. I have a girlfriend of a few months who is totally adoreable. Gentle and good to be with. She's someone I would consider to be out of my league, but don't tell her that as she tells me off if I say thatI just feel very comfortable with her and we share many values.
Hope to see you pop in more often, although if you don't, I hope it's for good reasonsI don't come here too often anymore, but pop in when I can.

Hey all,
Not sure if anyone will remember me, but seeing some old familiar names has encouraged me to post again. (Hi Katie, Miro, Gemini, Rose and Tiff xx) Have been getting thread updates by email. I've not had a good year, had a really bad bout of depression at the beginning of the year, couldn't go out, crying all the time and very stressed. They upped my meds and I got a family outreach worker to help me with dealing with the boys. Then my OH and I seperated and I had to try and adjust to life bringing up 2 very small children by myself, whilst also running my own business. Then my Nan died, it wasn't really a suprise as she'd been ill for a long time, but still really hurt when she went. I've recently lost a large chunk of my business, which is hitting me hard financially and causing lots of worry. All in all I hate this year, just want to get it over with and hopefully 2012 will be better!!
I'm hating it now it's starting to get darker, I dread the winter, always makes me lower. I am so much happier outdoors in the sunshine. maybe I should emigrate. I'm trying to concentrate on Christmas and their birthdays now, have started buying some presents and bits. Am determined they will have a really good Christmas and enjoy their birthdays (they are dec and jan birthdays). I need something positive to focus on and there doesn't seem to be much else at the moment.
Miro - am so glad to hear that you are happy and have a girlfriend, I remember your complete Britanny obsession from a few years ago!
Rose - am really sorry to hear about your loss, I had to give my rabbits up when I was really ill as I couldn't manage to look after them properly and it really upset me. I keep thinking about getting some more, my boys would love it, but worried that if I get bad again I'd have to give them up again and don't think I could go thru that again.
Shaz - How old are your children? I am really worried about the effect my depression will have on my children and they are only 20mth and 3.5yrs. My eldest already knows when Mummy is 'sad' and will give me hugs and tell me everything will be alright, which just makes me feel worse as it should be me being strong for him at his age. Altho on the other hand my kids are what keep me going and keep me fighting. I think I'd have give up completely this year if it wasn't for them.
Am sure there are more I should reply to but kids are demanding their breakfast now!!
Will try to get on here a bit more often, it is good to talk to people who actually understand and don't just think I'm some terrible single mother who can't cope (which may be true tho!!).
Love to all,
Felicity
