:hello: Everyone,
Hope all is well,I went out today to see my boyfriend and he gave me this red hellium balloon:
he even treated me to lunch too which was nice.
relaxing now tonight

It certainly does make a difference pipkin, it's been a long time coming!
Yeah diet can be difficult, especially if housebound or not so active and it's one of the only little pleasures to have some nice food to look forward to..
My baddies are SUGAR and mmm sugar! I'm not as bad as when younger though, don't sit and munch through a bag of boiled sweets any more - trying to keep what teeth I have left!
My hubby is into very very healthy veggie food and moans if every dinner doesn't have loads of different veggies in it so that's a good influence for me."All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)

Yes, a very interesting discussion:) CC - I think the carbs every 3 hours idea involves dividing you carb portions in two. So for example if you were having toast or cereal fror breakfast, have half of one portion at 8am, say and the other half at 11am. Similarly have half of lunch sandwich at 12 and the other half at 3. I think that was how it was described to me, altho it was a while ago. If you are dividing portions then that should help avoid putting weight on.
I think the theory is that by avoiding large spikes and troughs in your insulin and blood sugar levels (which is caused by eating a large quantity of carbs at one meal), it causes less interference with the uptake of progesterone and therefore reduces pmt symptons. As say, that's the theory.
But pipkin I do feel healthier all round by reducing carbs. As I say, eating a lot of carbs triggers the release of insulin and this in turn triggers hunger. Keeping insulin and blood sugar more level helps keep hunger at bay. And apart from anything else, carbs are so calories dense. Not saying I'm perfect either - I still get carb cravings as bad as the next person lol but I try to keep it under control!

I do have blood sugar problems - I have been tested for diabetes etc
I get hungry and I have to eat very soon after, otherwise I get dizzy. Sweet things make it worse.
This was triggered by one of my contraceptive pills and I put on weight when on it.An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

I know some anti-d's can help with it but these days it just seems to negate any good effects from them for me. Extra mental and tortured for up to two weeks out of every month.
I have always had horribly painful periods too, like labour type ones requiring prescription meds.
Yes it's weird how some women have no bother with them at all - they must be some of the ones who say 'oh it's nothing, just get on with it!'.
I used to have painful periods but they are good practice for childbirth. I managed to have a natural childbirth because the pain was identical. Not so good for trying to cope with everyday life tho.An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

CC hun - I have a very dear, close relative who has never been happy where ever she has lived. This is someone who has lived all over the world, and is now in her 70s. She always thought the next place would be the answer to all her problems. But it never was.
Whenever I looked at her situation, it made me feel that the answer for me was to strive to be happy with myself as much as I could, because nowhere and no-one is perfect - everywhere and everyone has their plus and minus points. Yes, I still suffer from depression, but for me - and I am just talking for me - the best path seemed to be to try and generate happiness from the inside first and gradually widen it out from there. Then there is like an envelope of contentment for me to inhabit, where ever I happen to be and whoever happens to be around me. See what I mean? For me - even if I could make everything and everyone around me as I wanted, it would be illusory and shortlived and even if it wasn't, wouldn't alter the unhappiness at my core.
lol well that's just my assorted ramblings on the subject. Sorry if they make no sense!:o

My parents moved around so many times when I was a child. When I got older we did settle for a while but my husband lost his job and we relocated. We needed a bigger place as our son was growing.
These days we have been forced to move due to us renting and the owners wanting their place back. Sometimes you make a mistake with a purchase and bide your time till you can sell or you move because of changing needs and circumstances.
I would love to find a place to settle. An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

I get shaky with my pmt too, willa. I have to eat straight away or I feel dizzy and get a headache. I can't focus on anything until I have food!
Pipkin - you certainly don't have to eat more. Just the same amount spread over less meals. It is hard to do and not easy to keep the weight off when you know you need carbs.
Tulip - I love that balloon. What a nice gift for you!
CCStar - I hope you find that special place. Get away from your mum if you need to and you may find things are better with you and your OH.
My periods used to be horrendously painful too but the pill makes them much better. I remember having to go home from college one day because I felt so ill and another girl looked at me gone out and said "Just get on with your life!". I'd have liked to see her try to do that with periods like mine.:cool:0 -
I know the pill totally erases period pain! I was on it twice when I was younger but unfortunately I became seriously depressed from taking it. I've taken prescription meds for years which work great as long as you can nip the pain in the bud in time. Does break through sometimes. The whole thing is just so bl**dy draining.
CC good luck with your search to settle, we're renting too and I want somewhere that's really 'mine' and more permanent.
Thanks for saying that about P pain and labour being identical! I've not given birth but I've long felt that I may as well have once a month for the last 20 odd years. I can now have extra conviction in describing my pain! It's not a clean pain is it, it's a horrible draggy one especially if you get it in your back and legs too."All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)

No, its certainly not a dull ache! I get sharp shooting pains and I feel as though theres a heat in my stomach which makes the pain worse. As you say, its a dragging pain as though my insides are going to come out (sorry if anyone is eating their tea!) and this can spread to my legs too. Who would want to be a woman by choice?:o0 -
