Would you say anything about lodgers excessive use of washing machine?

Hi,
I had a lodger move in just under one month ago. She uses the washing machine EIGHT times per week! Yes that's right, she does bed sheets every other day, colored lingerie, white lingerie, towels etc. Whilst living with a clean freak certainly has it's advanages, I get a bit frustrated as she only ever 1/4 loads the machine. It is hugely inefficient and I worry the machine will break with such excessive light loads. We share bills so I don't consider it my place to say don't wash your clothes so often. But what would you do? Would you say anything about filling the machine up a bit more or not say anything at all?

OMG thats a bit much im a clean freak and I use mine about 3 times a week ha ha ha
I would defiantly say summat but maybe be tactful about it ?? Or u could just tell her its a bit much0 -
You could try approaching it from the environmental angle, telling her it's not very efficient to wash with just a quarter load. Of course then she might just fill it up 8 times a week!0

One possibility would be to estimate the additional costs due to the frequent use of the machine, including wear and tear, and then simply announce that you're raising the rent by that much. You wouldn't have to explain why, just say that you're putting the rent up. She could then take it or leave it. That would at least keep the discussion simple.
Edit: Oh, ignore this. I just noticed the fact that she moved in one month ago. The environmental angle sounds good to me.0 -
Oh it'd drive me mad - get one of those power measuring meters and plug it in to see how much elec it uses (Don't forget gas for heating water too though) and see how much it costs.
1/4 loads are very stupid in terms of wastage of energy and water.
Point out you're an eco-friendly household and if she could do full loads and not so many.
Bedding every other day? Does she pee the bed?0 -
Put your clothes and sheets in with hers and ...
... get her to cut down to 6 times a week................................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0 -
Kick her out now. She's bonkers.4.7kWp (12 * Hyundai S395VG) facing more or less S + 3.6kW Growatt inverter + 6.5kWh Growatt battery. SE London/Kent. Fitted 03/22 £1,025/kW + battery £24950

Does sound OTT, but I guess better than living with a slob!
Like the other poster said, suggest you put yours in at the same time.
Hopefully the lingerie cycles dont use as much energy as a full normal cycle (?) - but I wouldnt know really0 -

nice, show em no mercy0 -
8 times a week...jesus sounds like she has OCD to me, but then again I'm a man so its not in my nature to be clean to often. If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -
Blimey, every other day for bedding sounds bonkers. Even hospitals don't do it that often now to save energy and costs!!
The first thing would be to try and ascertain if she has some problem, like excessive sweating or flakey skin, that means her bedding needs doing so often.
And perhaps suggest she gets extra sheets, so that she can wait to wash several days in one load!
You say she is going half on bills, but I would imagine she hasn't had to cough up yet for her electricity consumption if still new. When she has to, it may make her realise that she has to cut back, along with your eco rules!
