    No, forget the grated cheese, just put some real manly slabs of cheese, with a sping onion, between two slices of bread. Add pepper and some charm, and way you go.

    Quite interested to know what makes a slab of cheese "manly"? ;)

    Has anyone tried Peanut Butter and Lettuce? Its lush! :D The lettuce cuts through the stodge of the peanut butter. I'm hungry now.

    Thanks for all the suggestions love peanut butter but have never tried it with lettuce might give that a go usually have it with jam or mashed banana.

    That Hovis site have you noticed they have different recipies depending where you live.
    Is that right ? When we were kids and went for a picnic in the park it was a bottle of water and sugar butties. Who ever got the last swig out of the bottle had all the crumbs.

    Even better is peanut-butter, lettuce and mayo, especially on good granary bread A tiny bit calorific but lovely for an indulgent treat. Also peanut-butter, raisin and honey. Or a current fave cream-cheese, banana and honey. More like a pudding than a lunch but there's nowt wrong with that once in a while.
