    I like inventions too HG:D

Autumn must be making an early entrance cuz No1 has already taken a snack pot this week & cheese sandwich for a toastie for today. Luckily there's a little cooker in the canteen, so hot lunches are not too much of a trial.

We'll have the pork tomorrow & I'll report back...

The pork is a success & I've added a boned turkey thigh joint & value gammon, curtesy of Messers M & T respectively, to my stash :p

As a rough estimate & allowing for cooking, foil & things, I reckon the fresh meat this time has come out to just over 71p per 100g, so very comparable to deli cuts from the supermarkets & obviously less 'doctored' by preservatives & water.

    Dear All

I popped to the local deli the other day on my lunch hour and had a fit when I was charged £2.10 for a little sandwich. I wouldn't mind, but the bread was thin sliced, had a little bit of turkey, 2 slices of cucumber and 2 slices of tomato and a few shreds of lettuce. I was still hungry after. I tend to have tuna mayonnaise everyday for my lunch at work, and occasionally i'll top it with cheese and cook it in the panini maker at work. I am quite lucky as my place of work has a microwave, oven, toaster and panini toaster. I was wondering what other people have in their sandwiches which may inspire me.

Hmm depends on my mood. Very little beats a warm chicken, mayo, lettuce and cherry tomato sandwhich. Current favourite is a toasted mozzarella and tomato panini, spread with red pesto, a little dash of olive oil and oddles of black pepper. All-time favourite and ultimate comfort food will always be a banana, cream cheese and honey sandwhich on wholmeal bead.

Chicken, walnut and celery with a mayonnaise dressing. Mm, I'm salivating now, thinking about it!
