Another sounds gross tastes yum is cream cheese, blackcurrent jam and chocolate spread, think black forrest gateaux!
  • Why not make a pate with it?

Mushroom pate too could be made by sweating down mushrooms and onions and garlic and then blending with cream cheese.

Have made mushroom pate with it but I didn't even sweat the mushrooms first. I put some of the mushrooms in the food processor and blitzed the cream cheese with them plus a bit of salt and LOADS of black pepper. Then I added some more mushrooms toward the end so that they were a bit chunkier so it had different textures - was yummy:T

  • one of my favourite books ever. takes all sorts eh? it was the creepy incestuous twins who used to nick cream cheese and apricot jam sarnies from the student canteen, remember?
I remember the creepy incest twins, but not the sarnies -odd 'cos I usually remember food things lol. They were called Charles and Camilla weren't they? I remember thinking that was funny at the time.

Cream cheese and marmite is a marriage made in heaven (for those of us who love marmite) try it on toast, or in sandwiches.

Cream cheese also makes a brilliant white sauce for lasagne when mixed up with one egg, and used like bechamel. It is also lovely mixed with icing sugar and used as the filling for a cake (carrot or coffe cake)

  • Ok....so to be subversive. Cheesecake!

    300g/big tub of cream cheese
    284ml tub double cream
    60g icing sugar
    Vanilla to taste
    Squeeze of lemon juice

    200g digestives/gingernuts
    100g squidgy soft butter

Blitz butter and biscuits in a processor - fill the bottom of a springform tin. Press it down well and use some to make a bit of a lip up the side.....
Mash the cream cheese - beat it up so it's smooth and workable. Mix in the icing sugar, the vanilla and lemon juice. Whip the double cream so it's thick and you can hold the bowl over your head - fold it into the cheese mix.
Pour/spoon onto the biscuit base. Refrigerate and then top with whatever takes your fancy....strawberries, any of those conserve jam thingys, cherry pie filling, dulche leche and bananas and flake.......

Best use of cream cheese I can think of....

Oh and a sandwich filling for you.......

Get a wrap - spread cream cheese in the middle. Fill with felafel, avocado, lettuce, tomato and top with sweet chilli saucefold up and feast on it.

    Yum.....

(Quote)Quark is virtually fat free soft cheese and although it dosen`t taste like cheese is great for sandwich fillings.

Quark is ESPECIALLY nice served spread on top of toast and jam! Yum.

One of my favourite sandwich fillings is a one-egg omlette with whatever else is in the fridge; a bit of fried potato perhaps, cheese, mushrooms, peppers, chopped sausage. Delicious and filling!

Been doing 1 egg omelettes for the kids - they love them plain, or with a bit of cheese and a bit of red sauce. quite cheap 16p for egg, 10p for bread

the other thing I do sometimes (for a laugh to start with but they loved them) is fish finger sandwiches 3 or 4 to a sandwich

I gave my daughter a sugar sandwich (my mum used to do it if we had run out of jam) - when I told her she started crying I might as well have told her it had poo in it (haven't done that by the way)
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
