splash of vinegar is the secret
it brings out the flavour
my daughter love tuna
we use the springwater one
and buy when on offer
:eek:at the price nowadays
we use tuna, vinegar, full fat mayo, freshly cracked black pepper (may be too strong for littlies) then its what ever she fancies, chopped spring onion, chives, peppers, tomato, red onion, sweetcorn etc
and sometimes all of the above:rotfl:
wraps paninis bagels
it goes in all of them
though we put lettuce on the bagels, stops it falling through the holes!0 -
I find that if you use a branded mayo, it's not the same. It has to be the cheap stuff. I also add a little bit of salad cream too.0

I can't abide the taste of vinegar or even the smell of it but I always put a splash into tinned salmon when I make sandwiches as it really does bring out the flavour but you can't taste the vinegar ,perhaps its the same with tuna0

A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

I make mine a little differently (I sometimes also make it the same way but with steamed chicken not tuna and put it in the magimix for a smoother spread). Light mayo, worcester sauce, and spring onion. Not flash not difficult. You could add sweetcorn if needed.0

It's also good with very finely chopped onion and celery. I also used the same veggies when making egg-mayo sandwich filler as well as chicken for my darlings when I was a nanny.
I know it sounds very judgmental but I can't believe that people actually buy those sandwich-fillers when they're so easy and cheaper to make oneself. Who hasn't get two minutes even if they work really long hours and have no particular skills in the kitchen? Lots of people, it seems. I'd rather spend that money on wine. Or chocolate.0 -
Maybe the type of sweetcorn makes a difference? Presumably it's either tinned or frozen -in my opinion tinned sweetcorn tastes completely different from frozen sweetcorn (my children will not touch tinned sweetcorn even though they love the frozen stuff).0

I'll try that...onion and celery. I was thinking, it could also be nice to have some stuff to turn it into a nicoise salad type sandwhich...olives, some chopped toms stirred through between lots of luttuce and a few left over green beans/boiled or new potatoes. But easier to eat at school/work in a wrap than as a salad.0 -
After reading Dianadors post this week about menus her family had when they were young we decided to have jam sandwhiches mainly strawberry for tea this week and they do save you money as well as tasting very nice so was wondering what other fillings anyones got as we are going to have a sandwhich and home made cake tea twice a week so to keep it interesting thankyou for your suggestions.0
