Nice relaxing weekend. Prepared 4 individual shepherds pies for the freezer. Couldn't put the mash on the top though as didn't have enough potatoes. Shouldn't be a problem to sort that when I cook them though. Was planning on a roast chicken for Sunday.....but changed my mind and we had some homemade burgers. Its the first time I've tried them, and got the thumbs up from OH. Chicken has ended up in the freezer for another time. The plan is do have the chicken one weekend and to make a pie out of the remains for another day.
Tea today is going to be jacket potatoes with turkeyBaby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Morning all.
Tiptoes - my DS was seven last October and we're going through a phase of his getting smart about stuff, too. It seems as though whatever I say to him, he replies either "No" or will dispute what I've said, to the point of telling me I'm either lying or making it all up. :wall: Where DH is concerned, his immediate response upon being asked to do something, is "why?". :wall: He's currently under threat of having his Cartoon t.v. taken away, if things don't improve. It seemed to me as though this behaviour wasn't premeditated, i.e. he's not doing it on purpose, he's just echoing what his peers are doing at school and bringing it home with him. Hence, once we had spoken to him about it, I took to stopping him immediately and saying "there you are, you see - this is when it happens", so that he can recognise it before it gets into a dispute or argument. It seems to be helping, as things have been a lot more harmonious this last weekend. Maybe its just another one of those phases they go through!
Well, in a moment I'm off to Tesco to try and track down a present for DH's birthday tomorrow. He made the mistake of telling me once that if I could find a DVD of The Treacle People, he'd die happy. Well, one got released on the 6th March through Tesco - so cross your fingers they'll have one!Yes, its a kids' programme, but its soooo adult and very funny!
After that, I could do with all the luck I can get - as I need to tackle DH over the predicted shortfall on the rent of £185 this month. Considering he drinks around £130pm, you can tell where I'll be looking in order to make up the cash. I have a whole heap of horsey stuff ready to sell on Ebay which will help. Oh, and last night he told me that he has been debating setting up his own account on Ebay so that he can sell some of his computer stuff without losing the money into the family finances. I truly think he lives on another planet. I felt so disappointed and let down. I've sold stuff on Ebay that has meant so much to me - but in order to keep the family afloat, I've shed a tear, said goodbye and sold it. So .. wish me luck in keeping my head over the coming discussion.
Other than that - its just normal kind of same old same old. I want to change the beds today and get some vacuuming done. Dinner tonight is easy, DH is in charge (if he's still speaking to me by then) and hopefully I can leave him to it.
Right, better get to it - no good putting it all off, eh?
Have a great day, everyone. Hugs to all those who would like one!
B : Speckly bread and h/m lemon curd.
L : Fridge pot luck or something involving eggs.
D : Mackerel and rice.:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:Weight loss since 2 March 10 : 13lbs0 -
Morning all,
Haven't been around for a few days as I was painting the kitchen on Friday. DH is going to help me post some pictures later.
On Sat a friend took us all to see the Chinese State Circus (no animals) which was fantastic and then we took her out for a meal coutesy of Tesco vouchers. The Clubcard deal didn't cover the drinks but hey, 5 of us had starters, mains, 3 puddings, wine and coke for the kids for the princely sum of £22.80 (the cost of the drinks). If I had used the vouchers on my shopping I wouldn't have noticed the benefit - but it was great value on the meal. Have promised the kids we'll go again for the next birthday - Sat was for DH.
Thriftlady - I totally agree about the breakfast. When I was a stick insect pre-children I never ate breakfast. Go on a diet to lose baby weight, eat breakfast as recommended and end up eating non stop. I am trying to follow the precepts of More with Less and hopefully some weight loss will also follow....... Many thanks to all who recommended the book
Lunch will involve leftover chilli - the kids have it in their food flasks and I'm going to make enchiladas out of mine. DH and the kids are having chicken fajitas tonight - bit of a Mexican theme going on here - as I'm out at my cookery club.
Very wet and windy here - have cleaned and painted for the last 4 days non stop - so am giving myself a day off today :j“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”
