Hello again
catowen - all the best for your friend
Ok - SC is on, WM is on, don't need BM to go on until tonight. Mr TM has taken the mouslings out and I intend to go out before they get backThen, if I'm lucky - there will be some tidying up done before I get back.
I'm going to go into Preston - haven't been for ages. Will do a Boots run and them trawl the shops for clothes for growing boys. Bless him, got DS1 a fleece from Tesco the other day - a value one reduced to £2. Well, you can't complain when they are only playing out in it and he's so pleasedMay give the market a visit (note: best go in my trainers with all this walking then)
freya - kids eh? My DS2 decided that the living room was a good place to draw on the walls - just after I'd decorated. Still haven't got it all offAt least the hall /stairs /landing can be painted over (his other fave place ) He's grown out of that now though - thankfully
Nels - what an excuse!! You can still put your SC on - I only did mine 30 mins ago. Just get it started in a pan and then transfer to your SC. Chop chop - no slacking nowno, don't add the voddy to the meat - that's for ya glass.
Re "The Drawer of Doom" (Said in scottish accent a la Dad's Army) - well, it's still resisting attempts to be cleaned. Once opened it bears a canny resemblance to the till in Arkwright's Corner Shop - it just waits for little fingers to warily creep inside it then SLAMS itself shut. I'm sure it's developing a maniacal cackle to accompany it too :rotfl: I shall steel myself to disembowel it sometime this weekend..........
Ok - poached egg eaten, coffee nearly drunk. Slap needs applying (don't want to frighten too many people in Preston) and armed with m'advantage card and a knowledge of cheaper shops, I shall go forward like a true OSer, equipped with my emergency kit (reused carrier bags and a safety pin) (Not a wally trolley day today)
See ya,

The whole downstairs is hoovered to within a inch of it's life, the kitchen, bathroom, toilet and rear hallway floors mopped. The dining room has been cleared of all laundry and the glass topped table wiped over with vinegar. The bathroom has been cleaned thoroughly and tidied and the toilet completely scrubbed inside and out. I've cleaned the fridge and wiped down all the large appliances and cupboard doors and cleared off one worktop and cleaned it down with bleach and cleaned all appliances sat on it.
Now I just have one worktop and the sink to clean, dust the living room and I'm finished with the cleaning and can start on the cooking. When I've finished making chicken rice salad, tuna and pasta salad and hm coleslaw and put rolls in the oven I will clean the cooker before the orchestra arrive for tea between performances.
Then when they have gone back for the final performance I will collapse with a glass of wine and a bar of chocolate.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Afternoon all
Well we had a lovely time last night - picked DD's up from school and drove to Colchester, had a £10 travelodge room, went for a 25% off beefeater meal and shared a bottle of wine whilst the kids slept.....bliss! Woke up this morning to heavy rain so the trip to the zoo was put off - had a pootle round Colchester and accidently drove into the Ikea carpark on the way home...honest it wasn't my fault!........ok maybe it was! Got some decent sized storage boxes for all my flour, some more plastic tubs and some bathroom scales (that wasn't the best idea  ) DD1 has decided that her room is to babyish - wants something a bit more grown up - got her a few metres of fabric and have promised to do something fab to her room that doesn't involve painting or re-carpeting!
Will need to rejig the budget for this month to include the £47 we spent in ikea but it's do-able.....I'm surprised I didn't spend more actually!
Tea tonight will be the picnic we were supposed to have at the zoo!
Hope you're all having a great weekend."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

Afternoon all.
Its been a busy on here in la casa PoshPaws - and it doesn't look like letting up any time soon!
Catowen : glad your arm is feeling more comfortable and way to go on the Ebay sales! So satisfying when that happens. Hope the news re. your friend is good and she's more comfortable.
VickyA : hope your Dad is feeling better and you enjoy your bit of culture!
Holstar : good luck with the parental visit - I'm usually a nervous wreck both before and after one of those!
Congratulations, Mossy !
Tootles : what the heck are "stovies"? I feel as though I should know, but just can't dredge it out of the black hole that is my memory.
Freyaluck : how about putting all the fish in a chiller box (like you take picnics out in) with the lid gaffer taped down? At least then they'd have some of the previous tank's water with them to help stabilise the new water when the tank is set back up again. The box will help insulate them, too. I guess it depends on how long they would be likely to be in there, from an oxygen point of view.
So far today, I've done all DS's ironing for a week's school uniform plus assorted other bits; the WM has done one load which is waiting to be put on the airer once the dry bits have come off; the BM has made one loaf of Mummy Bread one loaf of Cornbread; I've made a mixed berry and mango jelly with the leftovers of a bag of frozen summer berries, the last of a bag of frozen fresh mango chunks, some orange juice and a sachet of gelatine; a quiche for lunch with leftover slowcooker chicken, a green pepper we didn't know what to do with and an onion; slowcooker mince with onions for dinner (we were going to have veg but the boys rebelled and got chips instead) and I'm hoping to get a batch of oaty biscuits done for tomorrow, before I run out of steam. I've written to the Debt Recovery Company who are trying to sting us for £95 extra on DH's cancelled bike insurance, I've cleaned the bathroom and toilet and done two lots (so far) of dishes. Oh yes, and I've played a game of Monopoly with DS.
DH had the audacity, earlier, to complain that I hardly ever make a cup of tea for us both lately. I restrained myself from adorning his head with the contents of the dog's bowl and said "yes, well, there's a good reason for that" ... from the depths of the toilet bowl, toilet cleaning brush in hand.
I'm hoping we'll get out and about a little tomorrow, maybe take the dogs somewhere wild and woody. I've had about enough of looking at the kitchen and could do with widening my horizons for an hour or so!
Hope everyone's had a good day and has a great evening with a lovely restful night's sleep to follow.:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:Weight loss since 2 March 10 : 13lbs0 -
Hi Yall, Awoke at 7am due to mini MATHLETT drumming a tattoo with his feet on the party wall between my bed and his. So I cranked up radio 2 and sat doing a couple of hours paid2clicks with a mug of hot coffee, a bowl of cereal and Mrs MATH's dressing gown on cos mine is still drying on the airer. Thank the Lord our study window isn't visable to anyone other than birds and fieldmice cos no-one wants to catch a glimps of a bald headed, bleary eyed cross-dresser first thing in the morning . LOL:eek: (In my defence it is a plain white towel robe, not flowers or owt) LOL
Loaded the SC with sausage casserole and hit the shops this morning with some brithday money I have been saving.
The down side of being a 'non-standard' size means you really have to seek out clothes that fit you but the plus is that your size are always left at sale time. Primark had a big stack of 28 waist jeans at £4 a pair so I snaffled a couple, a couple of layered tops and one of those 70's fabric belts too.:j
Then I headed for Boots and bought £40 worth of toileteries and paid with vouchers I have earned through Pigsback. I bought all the usual stuff I know we will use like shampoo, shower gel, Liquid soap, Mrs MATH's hairspray, feminine requistites etc. I only buy brands on bogof so I staggered out with £80 worth which is now safely stored under my bed. The cashier thought I was mad as she scanned 30 tubes of toothpaste through, she didn't pass comment on the 10 boxes of lillets tho, probably speechless:D . LOL
By now I'm feeling peckish so I allowed myself to be lead astray in Macdonnald's (in the middle of Lent as well - ohhhh the shame) It's my first MaccD's of 2006 and boy did that hydrogenated vegetable fat taste good! I almost whimpered as I scarfed it.:oBig Mac's were on bogof....oh well... may as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb. LOL
I've realy enjoyed looking at yall pics of ya kitchens. I've took a couple of snaps of my small kitchen and will post when Mrs MATH sorts me out uploading and stuff. (She's still trying to train me on using the DVD we've had 3 years LOL)
Luv and Hugs to all

Stovies are a very high fat content Scottish dish,
Fry an onion in dripping, peel and slice spuds into fairly thin slices, tip into the pan with the onions, put on a lid and shake well so the spuds are coated with the dripping, I put a veg oxo in a little water and add to the pan, turn down the heat and cook very slowly until the spuds are cooked through, whilst this is happening take a tin of corned beef and cut into chunks, when the spuds are cooked put the corned beef into the pan, shake well and turn off the heat, leave for about 10 minutes them serve with brown sauce and thickly buttered white bread!!!!!
As I said loaded with fat which is why OH is only allowed it once every 6 weeks or so......you an use cold meat or even cooked sausage, or have just the spud, my MIL used to cook it on Mondays for supper after wash day, you could put it on the back of the stove and just leave it to cook.......

Hi all
I'm feeling very down in the dumps, after making the Jamie soup for lunch with HM white rolls. Incidentally I found it absolutely gorgeous, but DD wouldn't touch - I managed to "bribe/force" her to eat 5 mouthfulls and DH said it was nice - but he wouldn't have it again (which is code for he didn't really like it but was trying to be polite). I currently have my pizza dough "resting" for HM pizza - but am at the point where I'm thing s*d it - let's just waste a fortune and order in  I know you can't force someone to like something, but when you put hard work and effort into making things it's very down heartening not to get a good response. Oh well back to the drawing board........
We had our windscreen replaced this afternoon, they're so quick it took about 20 minutes!!!!!! But with regard to all the housework/washing/ironing etc I didn't reach about 90% of my targets - ho hum there's always Sunday
Oh, look at the time, it's wine o'clock  Sorry don't mean to moan, but it gets to you sometimes. In my day (yawn) you ate what was put in front of you (but I suppose you never actually got asked whether you liked it :rotfl: )
Still I reckon I'll get a lot done tonight as there is nothing on the tv tonight
I'll probably drop in here later - thanks for listening!Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0
