It's lovely to hear how PP is doing. Hope she is feeling better soon.
BargainRzl - i'm sure you will get some free days when doing jury service. DH got nearly half of the time when he did it a few years ago. Unfortunately, it was mostly half days so he couldn't work, and lost out financially as he had just started working self employed. I'm sure you won't miss out too much as you get things like food allowance.
Well i taught my first lesson today with year seven kids, so they didn't kill me. I really did feel tired and my throat was killing afterwards, so i can imagine that i will have big problems when i go back properly and have 4 or 5 lessons. They did say that i could cut down hours if it is too much, so i may have to take them up on it.
I also went to the church service with my form. I enjoyed that, but again felt tired and quite sick. I managed to cadge a lift back to school. Thankfully i don't have a lot to do tomorrow and then its the hols.
I think we will just have pasta and sauce tonight. I feel too exhausted to do anything else. I'll have to try and freeze some meals over Easter so we have lots ready to cook quickly.
Another couple of weeks and i might feel more energetic anyway, or so my friend tells me. I don't know how people with kids already manage to have more, unless it gets easier. Please reassure me it does anyway.
Hugs,
Michelle, x0 -
SnowyOwl that was such a horrible experience. I don't know how the heck people expect anyone's work to improve with those kind of "chats". Hope you can see it as her problem and not yours.
Moggins Sorry you are still having to wait, hopefully the investigations will throw some light on your difficulties. Waiting for these things is always very hard, more so if you are in pain.
Michelle I remember going through very tired stages but then getting my energy back. I found resting and putting my feet up in the middle of the day helped. Other times I would get home from work and just crash on the sofa.
Mr PP It just goes to show how addictive MSE is doesn't it? Thank you for being so kind to communicate with us. Sending positive thoughts to PP that the meds have a good effect.0 -

Yeah you do get expense payments/compensation for loss of wages when you're on jury service, but the max you can claim per day in wage loss is a bit less than my daily net wage. I don't think I'd lose out much, but I reckon I would lose out a bit.
They also give you expenses of £5 daily for use of the court canteen! Honestly, I'd rather have the money, cos my usual HM lunch costs about 50p!
Looks like I'm going to have to defer my service anyway, as it would fall at the worst possible time work-wise and my bosses are putting a lot of pressure on me to defer (lets just say I work on a project team and the one thing the project is supposed to accomplish is due to happen during the time I'd be on jury service!) If you defer they call you again sometime within the next year, but you can state any time periods that you know will be impossible and they try to fit round them.
Racy - it's Southwark Crown Court, which is actually incredibly handy because it's 15mins walk from my office so if I was to get any half-days it would be no problem to get in. And would also be my normal commute in the mornings. My colleague served there a couple of years ago, and swore she didn't lose out financially, though I would imagine her wages at the time would have been below the daily threshold.
Anyway, watch this space. I reckon I'll have to defer. I'd prefer not to, cos I don't really want to have the fact hanging over me that they could call me back any week in the next year no matter how inconvenient. But on the flip side, if I did it now I'd miss out on stuff at work that will look really good on my CV.Operation Get in Shape

Good evening everyone,
Well, busy old day today, think i did everything EXCEPT the kitchen floor (well, its the bit under the table, i keep 'forgetting' it!!!). 2 loads washed and hung up on the airers/radiators, downstairs hoovered and cleaned, Kitchen wiped down, DW has been on and emptied, 3 batches of muffins made (and quite a few eaten) HM chicken curry and jacket potatoes eaten, children and myself bathed and hair washed and now they are in bed and im taking a break!!!!! Hated having to hand over a large amount of cah to the travel agents this morning, but is a lovely feeling knowing that it is now all paid for, and just need a little bit more spending money before we go, im going to start getting excited now, we havnt had a holiday for 3 years, in preperation for this one, but it will be worth it.
Snowy - sorry you had such a bad day at work, but by the sounds of it, management seem to be like that with everyone and are happy to blame anyone but themselves!!!!
Moggins - (((hugs))) and best wishes to you, hope all the results come back quickly for you, and the doctors can get things sorted!!!
Michelle - the first few weeks are horrible, but it will get easier, and boy, its well worth it at the end!!!
Mr PP - will keep our fingers crossed for Mrs PP, keep shouting at the doctors, they are the ones who can help and should be reminded of that often!!!!!
Bargain Rzl - hope you get a really quick trial to sit on, and hopefully you can get back to work and earning towards your goal again quickly!!!
Thriftlady - i have to swim in glasses if i havnt got my contacts or i end up ignoring friends and bumping into people too!!!!
Hugs to everyone, hope you all have a good evening, take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -
Hello everyone
Well I'm still feeling like poop after my run in with my manager today. Johanne...I keep telling you not to take it personally, but boy is it hard to swallow my own medicine. It has really irritated me to have been told off - she had been saving up a few juicy ones for me and produced documents to back up what she had in mind while I of course was taken by surprise and had no opportunity to prepare. While it was just a "chat" I know damn well my comments will have been noted for future reference. They don't really do feedback there, but according to my colleagues when it does come it is only ever negative and is designed to cover the complainant's backside. Eg she kept saying that she didn't think it was a training issue and when I kept saying that I haven't been trained she eventually piped up that she didn't want to hear it again because it would look like she wasn't doing her job properly. And that tells me that somebody was waiting to hear the outcome of this "chat". OK, I am venting again and getting worked up again, so I'm going to dump this subject and talk about something else!!
Bargain Rzl...I did jury duty in the Old Bailey. Gosh it was exciting! Obviously I can't give any details, but it is so interesting to see how it all works and to sit in on a real live trial. I know yours, when it comes back, will be in Southwark, but I don't think they look for receipts to give you your food expenses, they just pay an arbitary sum. The queues in the Old Bailey were awful so I went to sandwich bars (I know, I was living the high life then, defo not in MSE mode at all). Also take a flask in with you. In the morning the clerks come into the caff and call out a load of random names to go onto juries. I had to leave behind an entire cup of tea and a lovely bun which I'd just purchased. Also on jury duty was a male model I had spotted in that year's Next catalogue. He was lovely, but walked straight past me towards a v.tall skinny blonde good-looking girl (can you tell I am not in the slightest bit envious?!). I got called for jury duty again a couple of years later, but I was excused since I was on standby to give evidence in a murder trial (I was a bystander witness...wish I had been either early or late that day, but again that was interesting getting cross-examined by a nice barrister and by a horrible barrister who kept trying to trip me up) and obviously couldn't go to both. I haven't been called again and am hoping I don't have to do it here as it's SmallTown.
There isn't too much to report. Boss from Hell is off tomorrow, so too is colleague from hell (the one who hasn't spoken to me since May...bizarrely her behaviour doesn't merit a "chat") in fact I am the only one in tomorrow from our dept so I'll hopefully get a bit of peace.
That's all in the land of SnowyOwl.
Hope everyone has a restful night, see ya all tomorrow.
Bye!0 -

Good morning Smokey (and everyone else)
Hope you start feeling better soon, and yes, i am determined to clean under the table today, dont want to have to do it at the weekend!!!! Children realised this morning that our holiday is only 10 weeks away now, and are starting to get a bit excited as well, although DD has her birthday in between, so she is still looking forward to that, i think once thats over with, thats when it will kick in properly!!!!
Well, apart from under the kitchen table i need to get the bread machine on for pizza dough for dinner tonight, a little bit of cleaning but thats all the housework im planning, i have 3 little ones here today, and i think we will do some dressing up, so just imagine a load of little fairies, monsters and probably a large fairy in cats ears doing some dusting and you will get the picture of what it might look like here later on!!!!!
Hope everyone has a good day, take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -
