A very Good Morning to you,
Smokey I am glad that cough is improving and impressed that you will be working as well. Hope the day is productive and flies by, maybe you will be able to slow up and get some rest at the weekend. Here's praying your OH gives you a nice tidy living room as a treat!
Moggins: I kind of envy people who have their parents nearby as mine are far away. Hope you get your hair done, I am planning to dye mine this morning as my roots show really quickly and we are visiting SIL tomorrow.
Catowen: I remember all that dressing up very well, it was a really fun stage. I have some lovely photos of DS in frocks, high heels and flowery hats:saving them for a suitable occasion
Got most of my sitting room done yesterday so it looks nice now, shame I never seem to get to relax in it though. Still have plaster dust in nooks and crannies like the CD rack and some boxes of cassette tapes but I am going to have a break from it and tackle those some other time.
Dyeing my hair this morning at home as cannot afford the hairdresser. In the afternoon I am going to a cheap outlet for bedding plants with a friend. I'll just be getting a few for hanging baskets, I plant them up and put them in the greenhouse to settle in until the weather is warm.
Have a lovely Friday everyone.
((((((((Hugs))))))) to anyone who would like one!
Hopefully next week we will be seeing PP back with us.0 -
Good morning all!
Got lots of odds & ends to get done today, as we are away on Monday for a week in Pwllheli, N. Wales. We only decided to go about 2 weeks ago, and I am not organised at all! I have remembered to cancel the milk, so that is something.
Also, DS needs to get some new trousers for Boys Brigade, as he has grown both in height and girth recently. He is now quite a bit taller than me (not wider, fortunately for him!) but his uniform trousers are definately straining at the seams around the waist! I always find buying clothes for boys at this age quite difficult, as there are very few children's clothes made for 15 yo boys, so he will be looking at small mens sizes, so extra cost.
The weather is lovely here, so the washing will go out shortly.
Hope you all have a good day, best wishes to PP - hope you are home soon.0 -
Morning all
Grey, dank and miserable here again this morning.......I'm sure a bit of sunshine would make getting up easier!
Last day of term for DD's - they've gone trudging off down the road looking all forelorn and bored......they've not coped with this hour we've lost.....I'm sure they'll make up for the lost sleep in the next few days.
No work today - calm before the storm of having 5 kids here every day next week (I think it's actually easier than just having 1 - I'm sure Cat will agree - they all entertain each other)
Beds are stripped, WM is on, washing up done, dried and put away and I've a gleaming shiny sink, just about to run the hoover round and jump in the bath.
Brekkie - Toast and cereal
Lunch - Ham salad wraps
Dinner - HM beef and tomato soup
Hope everyone has a good one."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Morning all,
Woke up to a bright sunny morning, but it must be cold as the heating has kicked in, first time for 2 days......... the forecast said it would be raining this monring so better make the best of it whilst we can.
No laundry to do until the weekend........ another sewing day I think, started to put the borders on a quilt last night and discovered they were too short....ggggggggggrrrrrrrr so a big unpicking session, hapily the sides are on, just have the top and bottom to put on now.........
Spag bol tonight, so cooked a large pot of sauce in the slow cooker...... at least 3 more supper out of whats left, two spags and one mince and dough balls.....
Just going to check my bank statement on line and then off for brekkie, will catch up with you all later......

Went to Slimming world last night after a break of several weeks and was dreading the scales - I lost 4 and a half pounds!!
Later will make up a folder of recipes from SW - although I have the books I feel "deprived" when I look something up, so am hoping that having recipes in different format will make me feel less out of it, will try to fool myself that the recipes are from here or the tightwad gazette and seee if that helps.
Dear family scoffed everything I baked yesterday - 2 dozen rolls, a dozen breakfast muffins, soup and pasta!
Oh well, back to cooking!
Got quite excited because a book I own was offered for sale on Amazon at over £50 - but when I looked more closely - it was a different publisher and format!"This site is addictive!"
Wooligan 2 squares for smoky - 3 squares for HTA

Definatly agree!!!! Normally the older ones during the holidays, and they tend to keep the little ones amused as well, which makes my life a lot easier!!!!
Mind you, ours are still at school next week, they dont break up until the 7th, then they go back on the 24th!!
Well, they have finished their toast, so on with the dressing up!!!!!!

Morning :hello:
It's FRIDAY!!!!! I can't wait for it to be the weekend. I've discovered a small out-of-the-way opera performance that's on tonight and tomorrow near where XBF lives, tickets £10 - just waiting for XBF to confirm whether he's interested in coming. We thought we might go tomorrow (he can't mke it tonight) but he might fancy a quiet night in after watching the rugby. I asked him to confirm by this afternoon cos I might decide to go tonight by myself (so I can have all of Saturday free - it's the one day of the week I don't have to traipse into Central London, so I quite often like to keep it for myself.)
Many many thanks to black-saturn for her fruit cobbler recipe - I attempted it for the first time yesterday using a tin of strawberries and a manky old banana that had been sitting on the top of the fridge freezer because it was too good for banana bread (well, it was too good at the time!) It was delicious  if a wee bit too sweet for my liking - next time I might experiment with slightly more flour and slightly less sugar. Anyway, so I made this enormous pud - I'd say six small portions, or four large - and ate a quarter of it. Then housemate came home and I invited him to help himself. I went up to my room to watch TV and when I came down he'd polished off all but the last small portion
So b-s, I think we can safely say that it was a hit! :rotfl:
Housemate then mentioned that we hadn't had dinner together for ages, and would I like to do so on Sunday (normally this means a trip to the carvery or a pub near us that does food). Being on an economy drive I said I'd rustle something up at home. So now I've just got to work out what, within the general confines of the storecupboard challenge! I could manage salmon roasted in butter with rice and peas, without buying anything new; I'll have to splash out on some dessert ingredients though.
I'm applying to defer my jury service for work reasons - my boss will be pleased  On the form you have to say what other dates you will be unavailable in the next year so they can try and accommodate you. Don't know what excuses they accept but I hope my blocking out of two weeks in November/December, on the grounds that I have a holiday already booked and paid for, will cut the mustard (it was a great extravagance and I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to it)!
Breakfast was a bacon sarnie (I am giving them up for the next two months for reasons of economy - though I might still have one as a treat on Fridays). Lunch today will be more of the fish pie from Wednesday's cooking session. Dinner depends on whether or not I'm out - if so, I will try to resist the hunger pangs until I can get home and heat up portion number 4 of the fish pie; if not - well actually the fish pie needs eating up anyway... Looks like my diet won't be over-exciting today! Such is the life of a single girl who cooks in bulk even though there's no room in the freezer
Hugs to all in need - hope you can come back today Mr PP and let us know how PP's getting on.
elona - congrats on the weight loss
Skintmama - I think having parents nearby is a mixed blessing! I found the ideal balance when I was a student in York - just far enough away from my mum in Durham, but near enough so I could "pop home" for the day/weekend. (In fact my sis is now experiencing the same thing now she's posted at RAF Leeming). One of the things I really noticed growing up in Durham was that there was this mentality throughout the community that grown-up kids were "expected" to remain in the area/come back to set up their adult lives after university! Nearly everybody had close relatives within a stone's throw. That's not the way I was brought up, I've got relatives in all corners of the UK and most corners of the world! I remember somebody (was it Ticklemouse?) saying that they were looking at buying the house next door to their parents. NooooooOOOOOOOO!!!!!! But on the flip side, it must be pretty useful to have parents nearby once you've got kids.
Goodness me, that was a long post. I can't half waffle once I get going!
Catch you later

Gosh, I'm a lazy moo this morning - gone 10am & still sat here in my dressing gown eating toast! I have already sorted my emails, done my March expense claim, filled out my appraisal form for Monday & done my regular payday current/savings account shuffle. On the "home" front I've got mince out of the freezer for tonight's mozzarella meatballs, emptied the DW & er.....that's it!
Now I really must go for a shower, stick a load of washing in the machine & sort the paer recycling. I aim to spend my "lunch hour" (I think I'm still entitled to one, even if I am working from home today) ironing. Planning to hit the gym at about 3.30 for a 45 minute workout. Have a good Friday, and even more important, HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND! :j0
