Oooh Lucie, I notice your savings figure in your signature has just rocketed upwards thanks to your payday! Well done!!!

I'm well chuffed with how my savings are going too - as you can see! And there will be a big chunk going in in April too - for me, April is usually a good month for income (extra choir fees over Easter) and a lean month for spending. I reckon it'll be up by £700 next month - wish it was the same every month

  • Good Morning Everyone
I hope you all have good days and post lots and lots today - I am laid up with a prolapsed disk  , so your all keeping me very entertained, plus I'm learning loads too :T
I havent got lots of 'things to do' today, but once this old back gets better I'm gonna have tons to do :T . I'm new to OS, so the first thing I'll buy is Star Drops and microfibre cloths. Plus, I'll be cooking all your recipes, especially Black Saturns cobbler that u all seem to rave about.
    Keep up the good work
    Julie

Thanks Rzl, managed to get a whopping £667 in there this month. Sadly it's going to drop by about £2K next week cos we're having the bathroom done, but at least it's budgetted for! The good news is that there are still 7 paydays between now & Australia, so if I can get £667 in there every month that's £4669 :money:
Yours is looking pretty healthy too, keep up the good work!

Lucie - like you, I've got two strings to my bow, savings-wise - although one of them's not listed in my signature. I'm going on a pricey opera holiday in November/December, and another pricey opera-related thing the same time next year, but the reason it's not budgeted out of my main savings is cos I'm funding it entirely through stoozing :D (I keep stoozed money in a separate account from my main savings). Most of my savings accounts pay interest in August/September, so if I have any surplus after it next gets paid and I've deducted the cost of both the things it's intended for, I'll feed it back into my flat deposit fund!

Having said that, I'm now winding down my stoozing - every time a card's 0% runs out from now on, I'll be paying it straight off rather than looking for a new BT card - because I don't want to have tens of thousands of pounds in unused "available" credit on my record later in the year when I start trying to get accepted for a mortgage!

Update on my weekend: XBF reckons he probably won't fancy going out tomorrow, so I think I'll take myself out this evening instead and spend tomorrow communing with the washing machine and the slow cooker - sad isn't it!!!! :D

Am happy because I had budgeted for a CD set and a DVD set which I really wanted, and have managed to get both cheaper than expected :D I hardly ever buy CDs/DVDs cos I'd much rather spend the money on live music, but these two are pretty special :D

Thank god it's Friday that's all I can say!!! Although not off until Sunday, am working in the pub tonight and tomorrow night, but that's an awful lot more fun than my day job!!! And it's extra cash!! :j

By the time I've caught up on the thread so far I always forget who's said/doing what!! I must start making a note on a separate page then can make my posts a little more personal.

Hope we're all well, hope penny pincher is ok and will be back with us soon.

I have this problem too purpleprincess. I've discovered the only answer is to try & get in early. ;)
I DO remember that Smokey is feeling better so I'm glad about that & well done to Rzl & Lucie with their savings. A real achievement.
It's a lovely day here in the E Mids although still a bit blustery. I went out on my bike again this morning, same route as yesterday but the other way round for a bit of variety!
Came back to find the patio blokes had tripped the electricity with their drill thingy. Sorted that out but when they started drilling the dog went absolutely bananas. Thankfully he's calmed down now & things are a bit more peaceful.
We're leaving for our weekend away as soon as DH gets home at lunchtime so I've spent the morning packing. Why do I seem to need so much stuff for a couple of days?
I'm really pleased to be getting away, is it just me or does everybody hate having workmen around the place? They're really nice blokes, it isn't that it's just that I can't relax properly & I never know how many drinks to offer, I'd hate to be thought mean but don't want to be a pain. Daft isn't it. When we go I'm going to leave them everything they need so thay can make their own - much more satisfactory.
I take after my mum, I deal really well with things when there's a major crisis, I go into calm, sensible mode but with little things like this I'm in a real tizz.
Right, off to see how much more stuff I won't wear I can get into the weekend bag. :rotfl:

Bargain Rzl - love reading your posts!! Well done with your savings, you are doing so well, and you Lucie!! Well done to both of you!!

My savings are coming along nicely too, but having a bit of a bad day and fed up of the whole "doing two jobs" thing. I know it will be worth it in the end, but I am craving some proper time off.

I have 4 more paydays between now & and when I go to Australia. Right now I want to book a flight & go tomorrow. :0)

    xx
