Alarm has a rechargable battery in, its on charge right now and will be replaced before we go to bed tonight!!!!

(((((((((FREY)))))))))))))))) don't really know what to say........the smell will go with cleaning, you could tru burning candles to get rid of the smell as well as throughly airing out the house and wasing down everywhere with bicard and vinegar.

A gate leg or drop leaf table would help your dining table problem, we had a tiny flat in Edinburgh and bought a drop leaf table, it has been a godsend, we hate tv dinners, like to sit at he table to eat.....its up full in our kitchen right now.....

    Thankyou for all the hugs
I think I was just shocked earlier, have got over the worst of it now, There is a lot we can do to improve it. Sorry I ranted, dp drooped me off back here and went straight to work expecting me to be fine with it all.
Need to get some prices for the work that we will need to do and dp will have to break into his precuos savings whether he likes it or not!
Have written a long list of what we need to get done and a time frame to get it done.
You are all so lovely, don't what I would do without you.
    thanks once again

    Afternoon all
(((((Freya))))) as others have said the smells will be easy to deal with and as for the decoration if iys papered maybe it would be better to strip it anyway and get ride of any smells lingering in there.

P-P thinking of you and good luck.

Johanne glad to hear your feeling more positive.

Here evrythings in chaos OH and I have decided to split up, we only bought the house two months ago and now he wants me and the kids to move out, I'm so angry  as this will mean moving their school again. His reasoning is that he come from this area and I'll only move back to by my mums as need help with childcare as I work unsocialble hours. Feeling really low and not think very clearly at the min.

It my last six week of uni and sort of feel with the stress at the mo its 3yrs down the drain as concentration shot. Really dont need the stress but are split isnt an amicable one and dont know where to start looking for alternative accommidation.

    Tip toes big big hugs

Try and get hold of the local housing asscociation they should be able to help, also you have the right to stay in the house with your children if you are their carer. so don't let him get the house if you want it. you poor thing, I eally feel for you that sort of situation is one of the worst, I f you ever want to talk feel free to pm me or msn me

    ((((HUGS)))) Tiptoes.

You might have thought of this already, but do try popping into the "Marriage, Relationships and Families" board and asking for advice, people are always seeking help there with problems like yours.

Freya is right. Legally you don't have to let yourself be driven out of the house - why the heck does your OH think he's got more right to a whole house to himself than the rest of his family?

Freya - BTW - sounds like your cloud has a silver lining. Moving is stressful, problems seem worse than they are. Your OH's savings should be used to improve the quality of life for all your family - that ain't "dead" money in my opinion, just because it's not giving a financial return!

I will go see local housing association in the next couple of days when I get to te point I can stop crying   :eek.

Tiptoes, so sorry about your news (((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))) even if the children arnt his, he cant make them homeless (or you for that matter) Did you buy the house together? If so, you have equal rights and neither of you have to move unless you want to, he doesnt have first choice because he comes from that area!!!! . I think you definatly need to see a solicitor, and maybe the CAB for advice. Good luck, i know its a terrible situation to be in, but stay positive for yourself and the children and there will be light at the end of the tunnel xxxxxx

Tiptoes I agree, do not let him drive you out of the house if you can afford to keep it on your own. Was it your decision to split? If it was his that sounds very fishy to me, did he buy it with you because he couldn't get a mortage by himself?

Freya Don't panic hun, there are tons of things that can be done to improve a house without spending too much money. I used to live in Army quarters and we weren't even allowed to decorate :( I still made it into a comfortable home though. Keep looking on Freecycle for new gates and have a look in the yellow pages for your local reclamation yard. If not a pair of basic wooden gates can be made (picket fence style) from a couple of old pallets and some big hinges.
