Hope everyone is well today.
Well one of my best OS days to date.
Got a free hair cut in a salon today. Normally £10 with a 3rd year student but I got it for free. Had to stand my ground a bit as they seemed to not believe me and think I made it up. So off went a supervisor or something and went off and asked the managed and said yes it was free. :j as they had asked for models for free haircuts with 3rd year students.
Hope other people who took up the offer did not end up paying as no-one seemed to know anything about it.
And to have a top stylist colour and cut your hair is like £80. Yeah in there dreams I would pay that.
Nothing much else OS today can't do any washing as it is blowing a gale and raining out
Might do some tidying and a bit of my course work this after but I think that is your lot apart from cooking lunch and tea.
Yours
CalleyHope for everything and expect nothing!!!

Hello everyone :hello:
I've been a good girl so far today - cleaned my living room, dining room, hall and downtairs loo, DW, SC and BM all doing their thing too. Still need to clean kitchen and portion, pack and freeze all the meat I got from the market on saturday. 80% if ironing done last night and the washing backet's not too high, but I'll put a load on in a bit to keep on top of it.
moggins - thanks, you reminded me I bought some lovely bacon off the market on saturday too - I feel a bacon and egg butty coming on for lunch
I have to pick DS2 from pre-school shortly, so having a :coffee: before I go. It's a miserable, rainy day here, so after lunch I think I'll go and get all the 'tuck shop' stuff for Mr TM's cadets, from Asda. I'll look truly OS and healthy, with £100 worth of fizzy drinks and chocs in my trolley :rotfl: Oh, and a bag of onions and some yeast for me
Johanne hun, see if you can make it to the OS meet. You deserve some R&R and I'm sure we can stand you a drink and a bag of chipsThere aren't many OSers your age and I think you're doing really well to try and be OS with all that life is throwing at you.
(((hugs))) to those ill, tired or generally fed up with things and I hope PP, everything goes OK at the hospital. Like B R says, if a stay in hospital means you're better when you leave, then hopefully that's what you'll get.
Ok, off to surf OS for 5 mins before I head out of the door0 -
Thriftlady - you're definitely not the only person over 27 with a Harry Potter addiction! The day HPatHBP came out last summer was the second day of the BBC Proms season. That afternoon when I joined the queue for the concert, almost EVERYBODY in the queue was engrossed in their new book! It must have been quite amusing to onlookers (and age-wise, of the people I knew who were there and reading the book, there was basically every point on the spectrum between 15 and 67
) Of course, for the next couple of weeks after that, discussion of HP was strictly off-limits as everybody was at a different pint in the book! And some people were sharing a copy with their OH and couldn't start reading until their OH had finished
tootles - sorry you had a bad night and are struggling with the budget this month :grouphug:
AussieLass - come over in a helicopter and you can land in my office car park
By the way, I forgot to say that I'll be on a serious economy drive for the next two months. This is not out of immediate drastic financial necessity, more the fact that April and May look like being a couple of quiet months socially, whereas June and July will be manic and horrendous and I know I'll go over budget. So, best to be prepared to balance things out. Not going into my buffer (see my signature) in either April or May will be a start, but I reckon I should be able to end up with some surplus just out of my basic weekly budget too (which I can squirrel away at the end of each week). I've got a freezer full of meat and fish - there's not a free square inch of space in there - and a decent quantity of most staple ingredients in the cupboard, so am raring to go for the storecupboard challenge. I wonder if I can stretch the supplies all the way to the end of May, supplemented only by a fiver a week for fresh fruit and veg, and the odd loaf of bread? I worked out that if I give up bacon sarnies and coffee on the way to work, and newspapers during the week (I still want my Saturday Times) I can save £12 a week just like that!
Budget is £50 a week, which normally equates to approx £10-£15 on food and approx £35-£40 on general spending. I'd be thrilled to come in under £40 or even £30 for the lot.
Need to be really organised though and get things sorted the previous day, so I don't end up not having breakfast or lunch on hand which means I end up succumbing to a bacon sarnie breakfast and a baked spud and avocado takeaway lunch (total cost: £5.60 )
Hey ho, back to work...

Will have to go move so money from savings now to cover it all!

What a yucky old day. With any luck my only trip out of the door today will be to the gym, but I am seriously tempted to go back to TK Maxx & buy the duvet cover I saw yesterday. It was a lovely 100% cotton 300 thread count Fenn Wright & Manson designer jobbie for £25. The only other one I liked was £50 in Debenhams for just the duvet cover, before you even look at the pillow cases
OH is at work til 11pm, so just me & a rubber chicken for dinner.
2 more HP addicts in this house - we have to buy 2 copies of every book when it comes out otherwise we'd fight over who gets to read it first! When Order of the Phoenix came out we turned up at Asda at 6am (Saturday morning), bought two & went back to bed to read them for the rest of the day!
Phoned Australia this morning to pay the deposit for our accommodation on the sunshine coast; that only leaves 2 more nights to organise & it's all done! Roll on November...........0 -

New healthy eating regime
I know it is not necessary to spend vast amounts of money in order to eat healthily-apples,bananas,carrots and lentils for instance, but I like to have variety and a few treats so have bought some smoked salmon for sandwiches,avocados,ready-prepared salad etc.Next week I will plan all our meals. Not sure I'll post the plan, you never know where these meal plan threads might lead ! I've also bought more fruit than usual for the kids to have as snacks because if I do my normal baked things for them guess who ends up eating most of it?
Nice to know I'm not the only Harry Potter fan over the age of 27! I'm currently listening to Half-Blood Prince.Don't know what I'll do when it's finished, start them all again I expect
Yes, we are Harry Potter addicts too, ordered my copy of Half Blood Prince on line this year, and had to wait for it to be delivered, as i thought dragging DS and DD to Tescos at midnight was a bit mean, mind you, will def do that when the last one comes out!!!! (no sleep that night, not until the book has been read!!!) Before the book had arrived, i read in the peper that the main action happened at the end of chapter 27(i think) so when we were in Waitrose, i found a copy and had a sneaky peak!!! I dont mind knowing what is going to happen, as long as most of it is a surprise. Once my copy arrived, i sat and read all of it, poor children had to fend for themselves, i only surfaced to throw a bit of food their way!!!0 -
ok the computer isn't packed yet, thats what I am supposed to be doing now, but think I have made a really bad decision on the house, went to have our first look around the inside and it's tiny, stinks of fags and is just all manky, I don't mind having to do it up , but i live in a 2 bed flat and am moving to a 3 bed house, and I need to get rid of half my furniture, inc my fish tank, coffee table and dining table
I'm not supposed to be downsizing. The housing asscoiation are refusing to take out the horrid gas fireand wont mend the gates on the drive as they were not orriginally put in by them, which means My kids wont be ablt to go in the garden, as my 2 year old will escape. There is no room for a dining table, so looks like tv dinners for us, I just want to cry.
Unfortunately we have to say yes before having a proper look round, the only decent feature which was a fire surround in the main bedroom has been taken out.
I just want to cry, dp likes it so he's not much help. It wouldn't be so bad but dp will not want to fork out any money to get it sorted as it will be "dead money"
I don't know what to do, for the last 6 years I have been trying to get out of this flat and have a garden and now have the p[rospect of this in front of me. I will have no help from dp to get it decorated, so will have to that my self with 3 kids in tow.
Things are supposed to be getting better for me not worse.
I just wanna curl in a ball and hide.
Sorry to ramble

So sorry, you really are going through the mill at the moment, hope things start to pick up soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -
((((Freya)))) I am so sorry....I know that doesn't help much, but I just wanted to say it. Let's take the easy bit first...nast fag smell will soon go once you've cleaned it. My oldest daughter just bought a house that made us all feel sick to enter at first (cats, dogs and fags smell), but a lot of vinegar, bicarb, saop and water and a thorough airing and within a week it smelt fresh as a daisy.
How bad is decorating? is it papered or just painted? if papered could you paint over? and if painted perhaps a good wash down would improve things. Any chance of getting hold of a fold down table and chairs that would mean easier storage and still give you a chance to sit at a table? Is there a Freecycle scheme in your area? try www. freecycle.org (I think!) and see what people are giving away in your area.
Hope you feel happier soon.People Say that life's the thing - but I prefer reading
