Hiya everyone
Was treated to brekkie in bed - had to kick Mr TM out to make it though :rotfl: Only asked for tea and toast as I thought anything else would be too taxing. Boys gave me lots of HM cards and piccies - in fact DS2 kept running off to make me some more
I then went to a car boot sale for an hour - on my own (bought a couple of videos) then to see my mum and drop off card/pressie, as she's going to my sister's for the day. Back home to find Mr TM sorting out the dry laundry ( I guess there's still a mountain waiting to be ironed, but hey)
I put an organic chicken in the SC this morning as I expect it will be me doing the meal. other than that, I'm doing nothing much - mooching on here and maybe doing some ironing, but only whilst watching a flim.
Hope everyone has a lovely day

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY
especially to those who don't feel it is going too well for so far. Thankfully special times can happen on any day. I remember how I always just used to ask that the children refrain from arguing for the day, they could never understand how that would be the best possible gift!
An earlyish start today as DS had a rugby match. DH always bring me a cup of tea in bed anyway but then DD gave me some beautiful tulips and DS a box of chocs (which he insisted on me opening straightaway!) so we shared those.
After that we went and got drenched in a wet and muddy windswept field watching DS and his team win. I am glad they did as the other team had a tendency to indulge in some foul play. Unfortunately, this does bring out the protective mother in me and I have to restrain myselfChildren wanted a McD afterwards and as we were many miles from home we indulged them. DH made us sausage sarnies when we got home. We like to live the high life here
No sweet cards here but the children have been sweet so far so am thankful.
Must phone my Mum now as she is in the US and I reckon she should be awake.
Thank you all for sharing your days, I love reading them.
Hugs to all,
xx0 -
Afternoon all :hello:
Happy Mothers' Day to all you Mums, MTB's and MATH!
Some of the ladies at church had put together some gorgeous posies for the littlies to give to their mums - daffodils and red crocuses. We had a Simnel cake with our after-service refreshments (other name for Mothering Sunday, Laetare Sunday etc. is Refreshment Sunday - LOL)
My mum is 300 miles northbut I'll be giving her a call this evening.
chickadee - best of luck to your OH for the marathon - my little sis is training for it too, in aid of the Great Northern Air Ambulance. (BTW, if anybody wants to sponsor her, PM me and I'll give you the link to her JustGiving page).
I'd only planned to buy pasta, butter, milk and mustard this afternoon (for a chicken pasta sauce and a fish pie) but Lidl don't do Dijon mustard so I had to head to Tesco. Where I live, you can get froom Lidl to Tesco by taking a short cut through the Co-op car park and foyer, and while in the Co-op I did my bit for the elderly of Welling by pointing out to a pensioner who was browsing the reduced section that he could get several packs of diced chicken for a quarter of their original price by combining the reduced stickers with an existing discount
I passed on buying any of the cheap chicken myself as I have so much in the freezer already - but then I succumbed to some even better bargains in Tesco and ended up with 4 chicken breasts, 8 chicken drumsticks, two cartons of Tesco Finest soup and 16 decent (70% decent bits of the pig) pork sausages - for £2.30 the lot
I'm really looking forward to this week because I have all my weekday evenings free. Lots of cooking time methinks
Need to get the WM on and I'll be in the kitchen later doing chicken pasta (from a recipe on the back of a Campbell's soup tin!).
Hugs to all in need ((hugs))

Happy Mother's Day to all the mums, grandmas, and MATH.
I've had a nice easy day, got flowers and a card from the dog! Best of all though my son sent me a gorgeous organic food hamper from John Lewis, it arrived on Thursday and I blubbed all over it. Anyway I thought I would try the tomato chutney with my lunch today but when I took it out of the box it had leaked and the seal was broken. I've just phoned JL customer services and they are sending another hamper and I can keep the other one. Wow!! MrW is drooling at the thought of all the gorgeous biscuits he can have.
Hope everyone has had a good day and Penny Pincher, good luck at the hospital tomorrow.0 -
Good afternoon all,
I had a good lie-in this morning courtesy of DH and DD. Then at 10:45ish I got 3 cards (one handmade by dd, one from the cat and one bought from dd apparently), a fridge magnet with dd's fingerprints on it and a box of scrumptious chocolates from the local chocolatier.
Finally managed to rouse myself out of bed, whilst DH came up with a plan for meeting my ma and a local (ish) National Trust property .. so off we mozied for lunch and cake and more cake
We've come home, DH is now cooking DD's tea ... and I haven't even seen the kitchen today ... and have no intention of doing so either!
There are a load of nappies in the WM. I may hang those out, but I think that will be about as strenuous as my day will get!
Dinner will be whatever DH comes up with ... he muttered something about sausages, bacon and eggs
B - Chocolates and tea
L - Cheddar Ploughmans
S - Fruit cake
D - Who knows, but I'm sure another chocolate or two might sneak it's way in
The only thing I have to do today, is try and source a cheap chainsawand a couple of PC's. I've decided I want a tv in the kitchen as we don't have one on that floor at all, so I've figured out a PC with a freeview dvb decoder would be even handier in there ... so now I need to find a small PC. Hmmmm .... I think I'll need another cup of tea and some chocolate before I tackle that ... ah, but that'll mean I have to go in the kitchen, hmmmmm

Hi all
I'm late getting online today, we babysat for my grandson last night & he's only 18 months old & is so sweet. We took him home at 12 & stayed for lunch and all the rest of my kids came over, I got 4 lovely cards, M&S smellys from DS1, a book called 'Grumpy old Women' from DD1, Face cream from DD2 & chocolates from DS2. What was really sweet, was my SIL, his Mum is in Australia & so he spent the money he would have spent on her on a bunch of flowers for me, I was so touched. He was very supportive when my previous marriage broke down & stuck up for me when my ex tried to cause problems between me & my kids.
Hope every has a good day.
Hugs to all

Its been a quite enjoyable day here at la casa PoshPaws.
I dutifully stayed in bed this morning (even though I had been up at 5am and could quite easily have just got on with the day at that point) and was roused from my doze (thankfully, if I'm honest, because my left hip was objecting - being unaccustomed to being laid upon for quite such a long time!) by DH with a cuppa and DS gleefully proffering a present and home made card with a lovely butterfly on the front. My present turned out to be a Neopets Interactive PetPet - a BaaBaa. For the uninitiated, that's a little sheep. Squeeze his ear and he talks BaaBaa at you - and if you squeeze him too often, he sneezes. He's very cute .. and DS has been playing with him all day. :rotfl: Our whole family plays Neopets and I'm the one who makes sure all the Pets are fed and kept happy, so having a Neopets collectable like that was a lovely present.
Then it dawned on us that the clocks had changed, so we went from cruising speed to full speed ahead, as we had to get to the next town to pick up a Stereo which had been offered on Freecycle. After a bit of major rushing around and a successful collection, DS and I walked the dogs in the sunshine (gently, allowing for Jonty's sore paw of yesterday) which was very nice. We found three coins, a 2p, a 1p and a 1 Rand - so we'll be okay if we ever need to use a loo in South Africa. DH stayed behind and polished his new toy, the Stereo - which turned out to be a nice bit of kit and a marvellous aquisition. Hooray for Freecycle! :T
After that we spent an hour or so in the garden, dressing the Guinea Pig hutch ready to receive His Royal Pigliness on sunny days, picked up the random bits of rubbish that arrive in a garden on windy days and planted some Hollyhock seeds to keep on the kitchen windowledge until they're strong enough to be planted out.
I was supposed to be making a pie for dinner tonight, but the beef wasn't cooking in time - I'd used my little slow cooker, rather than fire up the big fella just for a little portion of beef. So there was a radical change in menu and DH was appointed to make a pasta Bolognese - so that released me from kitchen duties! :T We'll have the pie tomorrow.
So, because nature abhors a vacuum, instead of snoozing for an hour or so, I went and finished off DS's ironing so that his school uniform for next week was all present and correct. I think that's probably enough for today - well, after I've done the dishes, fed the GPig and the Dogs and put away the dry washing. ;-) Don't you just love a Mother's Day where you don't have anything to do ... :rotfl:
B : Toasted fruit bread with marmalade.
L : Cold sausage sandwich.
D : Pasta bolognese with grated cheese.
Pudding : Ice Cream with stewed apple & plums. Yum!:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:Weight loss since 2 March 10 : 13lbs0 -
Hi everyone,
Didnt go to church this morning as my mum had chosen a resturant to go to which wasnt taking bookings - so we had to be there early.
Still had an hour and a half wait though, but had a lovely meal at the end of it so cant complain. (Also I didnt have to cook it) Had some lovely homemade cards from DD's, they had made cards and little gift boxed stuffed with mini eggs at brownies, and a card at school from DD2. (DD1 is in the juniors and they dont "do" mothers day) Also a card and some earrings from OH and some flowers and chocs from my own mum. Very profitable day in the long run. Had a call from MIL who is away for a few days to say thanks for her gifts too.
I agree withthe sentiments raised on here by MATH and others, my OH gets on his soapbox about schools not observing fathers day. He thinks the children should be given the opportunity to make cards for their dads/grandads/uncles/brothers/mums boyfriends etc if they want to. I usually buy him a card but get DD's to make him one too,so he doesn't feel left out. They dont need an excuse 'cos they love making things a la blue peter. They think something shop bought is very second rate, especially if it means dipping into their pocket money.
Right Im off now to see a dance DD's have made up in honour of mothers day, better go and watch as judging by the bumps and bangs coming from upstairs I reckon the ceiling is about to cave in!0 -
Belated message today - had a lovely lie in this morning (especially with the loss of the hour oops
) Haven't done much else - took the recycling to the banks at B+Q and popped to Staples so nothing very exciting - did quite well with the sorting last night - being very ruthless, and have just worked out I've made much more profit on ebay than I thought I had :T.
Both our mum's are over 200 miles away but we've called them both this afternoon, sent cards and saw them last Saturday and gave them plants then.
Dinner is pork loin chops with vegetables and roast potatoes (hoping OH will cook it) and I'm going to get on with some more ebay listing now.
Have a busy week at work with an overnight trip and an evening working this week so will probably totally fall off the OS bandwagon - oops. Mind you all the time I have here will be making wedding invites so I think that's pretty OS (and so much cheaper).
