Happy Mother Day
Well I got breakfast made for me and a bottle of Oil of Olay, a traditional mothers day present in DH family. Feel abit sorry for MIL as she used to receive 4 bottles a year until she aquired DIL's to sort out her sons.Today i'm having a lazy day after all my hard work this week. Just got to get everything ready for next week as back to work. Then we are going out for a late lunch with DH family.
Have a good day everyoneSorting my life out one day at a time0 -
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL MSE MUMS!
I think it will be a quiet day today. I didn't go to church as I've still got this horrid virus which persists in hanging around - I keep thinking it's gone, then it comes back again!
DD2 has texted to say she and SIL will pop round about 5, bless her. DD1 will probably ring me today as Sunday buses aren't great from where she lives, and bring my card during the week! As for DS, he was out late last night, so he will most likely get up very late and dash to Asda just as they're closing the doors! LOL
Breakfast today - cereal
Lunch - sandwiches
Dinner - was going to be roast chicken (I was going to tell DS how to cook it) but I forgot to get the chicken out of the fridge so it will probably be a Chinese takeaway! Not very OS, but still, it is a special occasion.
Hope everyone has a good day.

had a lovely start to the day when dh got in from his nightshift and brought me a cuppa and the sunday papers in bed.then my two lovely girls(3yo+11mths) came in with a card and dvd for me.
then i got up and dh has gone to bed until 12pm.....meanwhile my 3 year old has been spilling secrets bless her!! apparently her and daddy and her sister are going to cook a cooked breakfast for lunch, make me a big huge chocolate cake in the afternoon whilst i go back to bed to read my book...then after that they are going to cook me my favourite tea tonight(fajitas)!!!
oooohhhhhhh i shall look forward to that then, although i suspect daddy will be a little miffed his plans have been told!!! :rotfl:
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL THE MSE MUMMIES AND I HOPE THE REST OF YOU HAVE A FABULOUS WEEKEND!!
special thoughts to those of you-for whatever reason- are not able to be with your mums today.0 -
catowen wrote:MATH - we were told at our school (DS and DD go to a Cof E school) that Mothering Sunday is recognised as it is a Christian date, and thats why it is celebrated. Fathers day (and now Grandparents day in September) were commercial dates, and thats why they dont recognise those.
Mother's Day is a Pagan Festival and it's true that the Christian Church adopted it in the 17th Century (I think) as a celebration of the Mother church but what mainstream school teaches of celebrates it as suchMy kidz school have given me this explanation too but as they sidestepped Lent in favour of teaching the Chinese New Year I think to cite Christian Festival as an excuse is a bit rich for them. oooppps ..... that's two mini rants in one morning;) hehehehe - I'm off to cook dinner now:D

Morning all!
Why is it that a single hour can make me feel like I don't know what time of day it is? My body clock is confused!
Got a lovely home-made card from DS this morning with a poem inside it that he had written. Aaawwww.... I also got two bottles of Dove shower cream. I know they were on BOGOF because I got my mum some too...
I was afraid of sleeping too late this morning so I was awake at 7am (6am really). DS had a football match this morning. The pitch was like a swimming pool. The manager had to sweep water away from the corner flag. Still they won 7-0 so it was worth it. He is now running a bath to try to remove the resulting encrusted mud. I expect it will be encrusted on to the bath after but hey, whatever.
OH is doing a 20-mile race this morning in preparation for the London Marathon. He was so relieved when he looked out of the window to see that it isn't pouring down like it was yesterday evening here. In fact, I'd even go so far as to say it is perfect running weather here today. Bright but not too sunny and not too chilly.
Right, I need to go to my mum's to drop off her card and gifts (I bought her a beautiful orchid as well as the shower cream - £9.99 from B&Q. They were £18.99 in Sainsbury's across the road!) I'm also going to plant some seeds ready for the summer. I'm having a go this year at tumbling tom tomatoes for tubs and baskets, moneymaker standard tomatoes, courgettes and peppers. I'll have a chat with mum about using her greenhouse if she doesn't mind. She's 75 this year so whilst she's quite up to doing a bit of watering, the lifting of grow bags is too much for her now. Never mind, we'll share the crop!
Right, off to supervise the bath!
Cheerio everyone.

Greetings all - my Mothers day gift was a an Oxfam Unwrapped prezzie of a midwife's training so that was very apt for a mum. My boy's back from Uni today, another bonus and my last blessing was a card and chocs from my cat, he has a few missing teeth through a car accident so OH reckons that if he could speak it would be with a lisp, so the card was signed 'with love and kissthes' ....ah.....
I bet all you non cat people are rushing for a bucket now....sorry0 -
