Morning all
happy mothers day to all you mums xx
Today starts the Smoking Ban in public places - yay
PoshPaws - loved your story yesterday about your dog- cheered me up this morning .
It is a dull day here today.
yesterday - cooked the chicken the SC - stripped meat from bones then made stock with the bones. Made a banana loaf which was "Gone in 60 secs" - even DSD ate some and she will not eat anything remotely fruity 0 may be something to do with the choc chips I put in it. DSD ended up staying with one of her friends that she has made her last night, DSS played on computer (wouldnt normally let him play on it all night but he had organised a match for the Clan that he plays in - which his dad is the leader for) - me and OH settled down and watched Ice Age the Alien vs Predator the Independance Day - I gave up at 1030pm and went to bed - as I was shutting the curtains I noticed a mass of black, fluffy things on the floor - OH was called for and it seems that is was the remains of a bird - could only find feathers no body parts and there was no blood - seems like youngest cat brought us pressie. Well OH marched down stairs and grabbed her from where she was stretched out fast asleep, brought her upstairs and shouted at her over the spot of the crimefor why I do not know. She seems a little bit chaste this morning - didnt come into our room at all during the night which is v strange for her - I am not 100% she did kill it as there is no blood anywhere.
Hopefully it will be a quiet day here today.
b/l - scramble eggs and toast
d - chicken, mashed potatoes, veg and hm yorkies
Will make some oaty biscuits also later
have a lovely day all
Take care

cat - ((hugs)) So, you shouted? Nah, you "mothered" and it's part of your role to bring their behaviour into check. Don't be too hard on yourself. Hope your day grows better. *We* all know you're a great Mum!

Thanks to everyone who have given all us mum's your wishes ...
.. it brought back lovely memories of when I was a young mum bringing up 3 young ones on my own; I received a phone call from my eldest brother, who was serving abroad at the time, to wish me a Happy Mothers Day.
I was a bit dumbfounded and wondered if he was a bit tiddly or something so I gently said thank you and reminded him I wasn't his mother
He replied, "I know that, but you *are* a Mother." Not only was it was a really kind and thoughtful thing to do but a wonderful and touching surprise.
Thank you for bringing that memory to the fore.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Morning all :j Happy Mother's Day
Bless, my DH worked all day yesterday, got home at 4.30pm, then got called out and didn't get home till 8.30pm, then got called out again at midnight and didn't get home till 2.00am - and still got out of bed at 7.00am to help DD get her things ready for me for Mother's Day - bless!!! I got a beautiful home made card and a shop bought oneand a huge box of Thornton's - yummy!!!
DH and DD are about to go round MIL's to give her an orchid (I bought) and a card (DH bought this as I refused!) I've decided not to go, as a) I can't be bothered - she peed me off yesterday and b) I fancy at bit of "me" time - you know ironing in front of the tv :rotfl:
Breakfast was - a chocolate
Lunch will be toasted sandwiches
Dinner will be roast chicken (cooked by me)
I've got my second load of washing on and the kitchen is spotless (for now) I think I'm going to rip DD's bedroom apart today - as I haven't seen any carpet in there for weeks!!
Have a great day everyone!Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
Morning everyone, happy Mothering Sunday to all mothers.
Catowen's right about it being a church festival and the others just commercial opportunities.I think it is also called 'laetere Sunday',it's always the middle Sunday in lent and you're allowed to relax lenten observance. It was traditionally the day when girls in sservice went home to see their mothers.
Sorry,it's the teacher in me coming outBtw Aussielass, our Father's day is the 3rd Sunday in June.
Catowen, sounds like you're having the same sort of morning I had with my lot yesterday.I was the mother from hell yesterday and very upset, but today it's all forgotten and I'm sitting here scoffing Thornton's chocs for my breakfastDon't worry, they'll forget it too :grouphug:
Guess who forgot to put the clocks forward last night?
OH has been running round like a blue-a***d fly trying to get Ds1 and dd ready for swimming.I'm not sure what time to cook our roast pork lunch for.
Breakfast- kids-they were up early and ate my shredded wheat,dd left all of hers to go soggy so that's gone in the bin
Me- Chocolates!
Lunch- roast pork, gravy, roast spuds, peas and carrots
chocolate fudge pudding and cream
Supper- Cheese on toast

Morning!
Happy Mothers Day to all mums!
Went to ikea yesterday to observe the bed sizes and found that the one I was after with side tables probably wont fit, so ive got to think of an alternative. I went on to the next website and the one that would match and fit perfectly is 'sold out' so im going to have to call today and find out if its going to be in stock again.
Today I intend to have a relaxing day and not do too much as ive got to go back to work tomorrow (boo!!). Even though I didnt do anything of the 'fun' variety, ive had a good week, and particularly enjoyed being at home. At least there are some bank holidays coming up so at least there is a few free days off next month. Im going to need them anyway - my exam is coming up rapidly and must start doing some work for it. Im definatley going to take myself somewhere to buy myself a treat today since I havent done much of that - possibly a second hand bookstore or somewhere.
Boyf is at work at 12 - 6 so I might take his job application form up to morrisons for him, and drop off his doctors registration form. I also must remember to make some lunches for work next week as I dont really want to be buying lunches again.
Anyway, off to call NEXT about a bed, fingers crossed they have more!

Happy Mothers day
Well not been around for a few day and havent had chance to catch up with post so ((((hugs )))) to those who need them. Not long up as as always by the time I get home and get settled it about 3/4 in the morn and forgot the clocks had gone back . I've got to run into town as still havent found what to get my mum yet, its not that she has everything that making its difficult but that she has such few want or need.
Been a lovely mporning here only got Ds as DD with his dad (was a bit upset when he said he was coming to take him this weekend, as I felt he was being very thoughtless  ). THough both when out on Friday with OH,while I was at work, and got me a lovely book stand,as they said I make such a mess when I cook.
Have Mum, dad, sister, bil and sil coming for dinner today which oh is cooking a lovely lamb roast, wishing everyone a lovely day.GC: £400/ £00 -
Thank you Queenie and Thriftlady, but im still feeling like ive been the mum from hell. I think its because they have been so excited about mothers day, and we had big plans for this morning, as its the first time they were going to attempt to bring me breakfast in bed, and all they did this morning was run around, shout and decided to help themselves to what ever in the kitchen (all things that they never normally do) I then find out that they used all the bread, made cups of tea with all the milk (they didnt even drink it) and i tried to bite my tongue, but couldnt, and now im feeling really bad, its not as if they have been really bad, its just grumpy old mummy being an old bag.
Sorry ive had such a rant today, normally i cope really well, but, i dont know, i suppose i expected too much today and ive had enough dissapointments in my life that ive just taken in my stride and every now and again, it all gets too much. Its just a shame its my lovely children that have taken the brunt of it today. I think i will try and make them something special for lunch, and maybe we can have our mothers day next sunday instead!!!!0
