    Evenin' all.

Conga-rats on the stair lift, PP!! Do you need to wear your skis to go to bed, now??

Its been a funny old day. Haven't even looked at my "to do" list .. but seem to have been on the go all day.

Had to wait in for the WM repair man to come - who came mid-morningish and wonder of wonders, repaired the WM so that it no longer sparks inside the drum when spinning. There's a comfort!! No sooner had he left, after testing it satisfactorily, than I got it loaded up and switched on ... zippo. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. All was silent as the grave. Rang them back, couldn't get him back to us today, we'd have to wait until tomorrow. GRRR!! About an hour or so later, I thought I'd give it one more go for luck .. and it sprang to life. I think it likes to make a monkey out of me!! At least we didn't have to pay, because we rent the machine. £18 pm to avoid maintenance costs seems pretty reasonable, to me, right now.

So, while the repair man was doing his thing, I got on with making some butterbean and carrot soup, using the stock from yesterday's chicken. Started off smelling a bit odd .. tasted a bit sour and lemony from the lemons I used with the chicken .. then the carrot started to kick in and it sweetened up a bit. Blitzed the carrot down, added the butterbeans, simmered it for a little while ... tasted blimmin' lovely. Had some for lunch .. went back to the kitchen and I'd left the gas on under the pan. Burned the lot. Ah well, the dogs enjoyed it. With the butterbeans, they'll be jet propelled, tomorrow!

This afternoon, had the discussion with DH that I'd been dreading as regards the predicted shortfall on the rent. He instigated the conversation and took the news that he'd have to stop drinking, like a lamb. I'm absolutely gobsmacked and don't really know what to expect next. I'll just be taking whatever happens next, as it comes, I think!

Pickup from school coincided with DS's parents' evening - we'd managed to get the first appointment, so were straight out of the traps without having to go home again. :j Teacher is very pleased with DS and he has achieved all his targets for this year. His main target for the remainder of the term is a social one - to do as he is asked, as soon as he is asked, not after ten minutes' discussion. Interesting, that - because we're experiencing the exact same thing at home. Ah well, at least we're all working from the same starting point!

Hugs to all - hope you all have a great evening and a quiet night. :)
:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:

Evening all! A late post for me today, as we went shopping this morning (£73! ) and DH has been busy building the new workstation so that we can have the dining table back - the pc hasn't been moved yet, but might ask DS to do that as he's the Techie of the family!

P-P Hooray! So glad you finally have your stairlift. In case I don't post tomorrow, hope your stay in hosp goes well - not nice being away from home, but worth it if you come out feeling better!

    Pooky love the cushions!

Purplegirl So sorry to hear you aren't well today - try to rest as much as poss for a few days, then hopefully you will improve. It's so easy to do too much when you've got CFS, which I seem to remember you have (join the club! :p )

Bargain Rzl - what a dilemma! ((((HUGS)))) Maybe you feel more comfortable being "just good friends"? You are a warm person, but not everyone is made to be half of a couple.

HUGS to everyone who needs one this evening.

I hope Aussielass is okay - doesn't she live in N.E. Australia where they've had the terrible weather?

And Ancasta, where are you? Hope you're okay too!

Math Hope you hear good news soon re Mrs MATH's job. (((HUGS)))

DD2 came over this morning - she's started looking at maternity clothes, but so far the only thing she really likes is a pair of combat trousers from Next (I remember one poster on the "Having a baby OS" thread said she spent her whole pregnancy in a pair of those) . They come in brown or what she describes as "horrible bright green". Apparently everyone else thinks the brown ones are preferable too, as both the branches she looked in only had the green ones, so she rang "Next Directory" only to be told there was an 8-week wait on the brown ones! She felt like saying "But I could have had the baby by then!" :D

Morning thriftlady and everyone to follow. I've been up for nearly an hour now and didn't want to cross post.

I had a very sleepless night. One of my kittens got himself stuck up next doors tree, and he won't come down. He's still there now from last night. The other kitten then wouldn't come in either, so i've been worried to death about them. I'm going to have to go round next doors in a bit and try and tempt him down. DH said he doesn't actually look stuck. I keep seeing the cat that was on the news yesterday in my head, falling 80 feet out of a tree.

Other than that, i'm tired but not feeling ill. What i do today will depend on if fred gets out the tree.

Lasagna for tea, made last night when we had chillil, so i can try to do some catch up jobs before the weekend.

Morning Thriftlady, ive been waiting for someone to post so i didnt cross!!!!

Well, its dry here at the moment, but i have a feeling its probably going to rain at some stage. I have a load in the WM (going to try my freebie lenor today) and will prob stick it all on the radiators and airer when its finished.
Have one little one here at the moment, and another coming later, we are making mothers day cards today, so the dreaded paint is coming out, so lets see how messy we can all get
Going to put the BM going in a minute, and then must think of something i can do DD and DS for dinner, im still on the soft stuff, so ive been cooking something different for them each evening, i think there is some stew left, so will see about bulking whats left out and letting them have that.
Apart from a trip to Waitrose for milk, thats it for today, good luck to Mrs MATH and Mr SOMO1 with the job situation, and (((HUGS))) to anyone else who needs one.
    Take care,

    Good Morning!

Lovely day again here - cold, though. There was a frost this morning. Washing is done & will go out shortly. D/w finished, and I will finish unloading it & putting away once I come off of here.

DS has his piano lesson this morning, so we will have a nice drive through the countryside to get there - it's a lovely journey on a good day, a bit hair-raising on foggy or rainy days.

    Have a good day everyone!
  • Not a very good day here today...not feeling good.

We didnt go out last night as I had a bad turn and couldnt move. Will try and post later though.

    Love to all.

:hello: Goooood Morning, fellow Old Stylers :D:D
It's a glorious morning here and the garden definately looks like it needs a short back and sides! :o Fed the birds and put out some dryer fluff (not that I have much of that :( ) just incase they need it for their nest building.

Windows open giving the house a good dose of fresh air; already had my morning 10min yoga stretch, but have yet to do my 20min whip round; I've put the door mats into a bag with a bit of bicarb and cinnamon in ready for a good shaking so that'll save getting dust and bits everywhere.

Cookingwise, I want to make our favourite meatloaf recipe from Bernadine Lawrence's book, but I'm going to experiment. Instead of minced beef, it will be pork; instead of grated carrot, it will be grated apple (have a couple that need using up); instead of stuffing, it will have to be 3-seed bread crumbed and a few herbs lobbed in: so, should end up with a pork and apple meatloaf for tonights meal :D

Also need to make a pan of vegetable stock.

B: Greek yogurt with fruit + 1 slice 3-seeded toast
L: Pitta with tuna and grated carrot
D: Pork and apple loaf, winter salad. Considering jelly fluff (thanks for the recipe in the other thread)

cha97michelle: Oh poor little thing!!! :( Hope he comes down soon, poor thing must be quite frightened.

    Chipps:
A drive through the country sounds like a wonderful idea with today's sun shining :)

thriftlady: Good luck with your point counting. Now the weather is turning, it tends to get us all more in the mood for being out and active, that's bound to help.
Good luck on the job front to those who are looking/needing. SOMO1 having experienced redundancy (and no warning) I can empathise with how you both must be feeling :( Don't lose heart. ((hugs))

    Take care today everyone

    Hello everybody,

Quick post for me tonight as I need to jump in the shower & go out. Has been pretty busy in the aussie household the last week. We will know by Monday if this contract goes through, so am keeping everything crossed. I am working fulltime this week & next so I'm running around like a chook with it's head cut off.

Very windy & rainy weather here :p due to the cyclones. Another one on the way but heading down towards us more. I cooked a lovely cream sago in the SC yesterday. I made it for my little grandson who was 1. I also made him a gingerbread man cake but made it chocolate. We had a little birthday tea last night for him. They go back tomorrow night.

cha97 I hope kitty comes down soon
queenie let us know how the meatloaf & jelly fluff go, will try and catch up with that thread over the w'end
pp ((((hugs)))) are you ok, that sounds terrible. I hope it's not serious

To anyone I've missed, enjoy your day and will catch up another time. Good luck with the jobs too.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)
