Hi ive received 3 letters so far about my 'parking charge' ive taken the advice from this website and ignored them, i have just recieved 2 more letters from graham white solicitors threatening to take me to court or instruct the bailiffs to enter my house!! I have sent only 1 letter to Graham white solicitors to say that I will take them to court myself for trying to get me to pay this unenforcable fine and for harassment, im waiting to hear from them now. It does worry me but after reading all the peoples messages of support on here it puts my mind at ease slightly, i keep thinking 'but what if i am in the wrong by not paying'!! still..they wont be getting a penny from me, ive also threatened to report them to BBC's watchdog and the consumer rights, ill post when i hear back from them or when i get a knock on my door from the bailiffs!!0

I bet the letter doesn't say that. No one can "instruct the bailiffs to enter any house" There is a process to go through, a long process, before it gets anywhere near the bailiff stage.
There is enough info on here regarding GW, just totally utterly ignore them.
You will not be getting a knock from anyone.0 -
Thankyou, advice taken :j0

I have recently had the letter from Graham White Solicitors requesting £207.25 for an unpaid parking charge from eurocarparks. It seems that this letter has been successfully ignored by many people on here, but I was just a bit concerned that most people who have posted have written letters of appeal. My Roxburghe letter states that 'in the abscence of payment or any valid appeal we are instructed to pursue this matter to a conclusion'.
Do I have anything to worry about having not appealed?0 -

EuroCarParks are using Roxburghe - really?
That makes a change, must go and get another one of their fake PCNs so I can enjoy the Roxburghe/Graham White threatogram flurry. And no, most people who are have any sense do not 'appeal' (think about it, a private company issues an invoice for £100 or so - you reckon they will allow any 'appeals?!).
Just ignore all their sad efforts to extort money from you. Do not contact them.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

"Appeal" = information gathering exercise to try and ascertain the identity of the driver. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Well I got bashed by this Apcoa barstewards yesterday and I'm steaming mad!
I paid to park for the day at my local railway station which has a car-park in two parts. The top part near the station is tarmaced and has proper bays, but the bottom part is simply 4 strips of gravel standing for vertical parking and naturally, being gravel, there's no bay markings on the ground. I parked yesterday morning between two cars which were already there, paid for a day's parking and off I went. I got back late, approx 10pm, to find a ticket on my windscreen for 'parking across 2 bays'. Two obvious problems there being a) it's gravel, there are no marked bays and b) I parked in one of the only remaining spaces which was between two cars; so if there were bays and I was parked over them...so was everyone else.
Now unfortunately this is a very rural rail station and the large gravel car-park has no lighting so I couldn't take photos in the pitch-black at 10pm when I returned for my car (I didn't even notice I had a ticket until I started driving; they'd stuck it to the passenger side).
So is the general advice just to ignore everything they send through and, if they do take me to court, hit them with photos taken in the daylight which show this is gravel standing with no marked bays? They want £80 for this! Cheeky !!!!!!.“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

Yep, just ignore them and calm down, this is nothing! It's not a real fine unless it's a Penalty Charge and says that any appeal is to a Magistrate (check the 'ticket'). If it's a Parking Charge and says any 'appeal' (it's a sham, don't do it!!) goes to APCOA/PO Box then yes, you have one of the bogus PCNs we tell people they can safely ignore.
Look at the sticky threads on this board by Crabman - you need to look at 'PPC letters, what to expect' and 'Please read before posting'. The former gives you pictures of the debt collector/solicitor scary letter-chain which the registered keeper just needs to ignore. The latter thread gives you info and also a link to a youtube clip of Watchdog which should put your mind at rest.
Make sure others in the household know about the scary letters being a generic scam, like a phishing email. Don't want to alarm them when they open the post!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

It just says at the top 'civil parking notice' and that I'm required to pay an 'enforcement charge of £80 within 30 days'
Then goes on to say:
"In the event of non-payment of this Notice, APCOA will apply to the DVLA for registered vehicle keeper details to facilitate the recovery of this debt."
I'm sure that, APCOA being a private company, the DVLA wouldn't be allowed to release registered keepers' information under the Data Protection Act?
On the back it says:
"Should payment not be received within the specified times, a summons will be issued in the county court where judgment may be sought for debt to include any and all costs incurred in recovery."
Now frankly, even if this were a council parking notice they could go and swing because there's no way in hell they could enforce 'parking over 2 bays' notice on gravel standing with no bloody bays painted! :rotfl:
I'm now just deciding whether to ignore them or toy with them. do they have a fax number? e-faxing a ton of black pages is generally fairly annoying in any office situation...particularly if they've not got a good stock of toner in.
Having read the thread about these clowns in other Great Western Railway carparks (mine was in Kemble, Gloucestershire) I'm wondering if this is just some scam to increase revenues for GWR?“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”
