Good service - posted phone on new year's eve, received confirmation that my order had been processed on 9th Jan, BACS payment reached my account on the 11th.

The only other service I've used was CEX, who were offering slightly more for this phone but I found them to be biblically slow, plus they don't offer payment by BACS (meaning a trip to the bank, boo.)

PS. Remember to go via Topcashback for an extra £3!
  • You are wrong. CEX always sends my (quite frequent) payments by bacs if you request that.
  • I posted using freepost bag and paid 76p for recorded delivery so I knew they had received it.

I got an email the same day as it arrived to say they had processed it and were sending a cheque out to me.

Very impressed with the service, would use them again.
  • I have used these guys three time now and always received perfect service, sent the first phone recorded delivery as it was worth a few pounds but the next two I sent in the freepost option.

Every time have received an email only a few days after posting confirming receipt and then another confirming sending of a cheque and sure enough the correct amount of money arrives only a few days after that.

Excellent service and would use again.

Received cheque promptly and for full amount quoted on their site. Very impressed with the service especially since O2 offered a 25% discount on their original quote for what they claimed were "large cracks". Fonebank made no such deduction and were only £1 or so less than O2's original quote.
I'm proud of my advice, if others want to look I say enjoy the show!

Posted Blackberry Bold 9000 on Tuesday using freepost. Just had confirmation of BACS payment on Friday for full quoted value of £33, that was with half a dozen faulty pixels in top right of screen.

I think reputation of phone recyclers is poor - O2 took 20% off for minor scratches to a Nokia we sent back - but Fonebank seem to be best of the bunch.

I sent my phones Freepost on the 16th of February and they have still not been received by Fonebank. I've contacted Fonebank and while they were quick to reply they keep repeating that my order is 'pending' and they haven't received the phones. They also ask for details which I have already told them or are in the order. If you want to give it a go, I would recommend against using the Freepost option, like I did. I've never had problems with Freepost or mobile phone recycling....until now. I'm not sure at what point they declare the phones lost or when I can try to claim compensation from Royal Mail. If anyone has managed to get compensation for this, can you let me know how. I thought I read somewhere (after sending phones off) that Royal Mail don't compensate for mobiles.

I can't really recommend Fonebank, I used them on the strength of their reviews but it hasn't worked for me.

You can claim from Royal Mail up to about £41. Proof of posting costs nothing and is sufficient, though they will write to the recipient to confirm that they never received the item. Proof of posting isn't a pre-requisite either, but that's what i always use. I never pay Royal Mail anything if I can avoud it and still cover myself.

This is my 4th time using them, Yes 4th time
I did the comparison as per usual and Fonebanker was not the best price but I still choose them. They were a few quid less.

I posted the phone Via Recorded delivery Tuesday or last week, Confirmation they had it on Wednesday and then a email on Thursday saying cheque been sent. Got cheque on Saturday

Would use again and again and again
