  • iPhone valued at £177, they received it and offered me £88. I know the phone was in full working order, it didn't even have a scratch on it.

they said the touch screen didn't function correctly.

So i lost the £7 postage it cost me to send to them, gah
  • Wish I'd read around more before sending my phone off. Used mobilephoneexchange as they offered the best price - £94 for my Samsung SII - just sent me a revised offer for £12!!! They state that the screen is severely scratched which is just nonsense - I'd been using it up until two weeks and there was barely a scratch on it. I've asked for it back so fingers crossed they actually return it so I can go through a more reputable company. Gutted though that I've been so gullible!
  • I REALLY wish I'd read these posts BEFORE I sent these crooks my phone. They offered me £37 for my iPhone 3S and then when they received it, they revised the offer to only £1! They claimed that it was because of a small crack in the casing, but the phone was fully working. I am outraged by it. Also, they kept claiming that they hadn't received my phone in time, even though I had posted it 2.5 weeks before, but I knew from an email from one of their colleagues that they actually had so many phones backed up in their warehouse that they didn't even know which had been received. I haggled with them and they finally offered £16, but I'm not happy. I have used 4 different mobile phone recycling companies and never had a problem before, but these charlatans should be avoided at all costs.
  • Used this site to sell my Samsung. A few tiny wee scratches on it, nothing major, great working condition etc. Mobile Phone Exchange offered me £120 when I registered. It took an extra 4 days for them to respond to me once they received it, saying that they wouldn't offer me the full amount but would offer me £75. So I declined as soon as I read the email and asked them to return it to me. They acknowledged my email but then took another 7 days to come back with an alternative offer of £85, to which I declined again and demanded that they return my phone. It then arrived almost one week later. At this point the value had obviously decreased with other mobile phone recycling companies. My husband had similar issues - they said his phone was water damaged but they actually didn't realise that his phone was only a few months old (insurance paid for a new one after previous phone got damaged) and hadn't been near any water so he also asked for his phone back because their alternative offer was awful. It took 2 weeks to get his phone back! Don't use this company!!!
  • I'm currently trying to sell an iPhone 5S via Mobile Phone Xchange and I wish I never bothered. They offered a good value for the phone, but the customer service has been the worst I've ever experienced.

I got the iPhone 5S as an upgrade but didn't need it. I first tried to sell it on eBay but it didn't go (even though some are selling for £600!). I sent the phone last Tuesday via special delivery, expecting it to arrive on Wednesday and as per their website, get paid within 3 days. The phone was still sealed when I sent it, to ensure they couldn't take anything off the price they had quoted me. I sent multiple e-mails to them before I sent the device, showing pictures of the sealed box etc.

I had no reply by Friday to even say they had received my phone, so I sent another e-mail. I was then told that I had to remove the iCloud account from the phone! This was an obvious lie as the phone had never been used, if they had checked it they would know this. I replied saying that I don't have an iCloud account and that the phone was sealed (just like I had told them in my previous e-mails, including pictures of the phone in the sealed boxed). Then they told me they would have to reinspect the phone and it could be another 5 working days before I got paid!

I've then threatened to go to the police as currently they have stolen my phone. I did then get an e-mail on Friday saying I'll get paid today. However their customer support team have e-mailed me AGAIN saying they'll need to reinspect the phone to ensure the (non existent) iCloud account has been removed! I can't believe a company can continue this sort of behaviour and not be breaking some kind of law. I'm fed up of being treated like dirt by these sort of companies that think they can get away with this sort of action.

Please take my advice and never use this company, no matter what.

    My two-penneth worth!

I used this company a few weeks back as they were offering the best price for my old iPad with Retina Display.

Received £300 as quoted on their site, no problems!

HOWEVER I then sent off my old iPhone 5, which they've received 2 weeks ago as of Monday and trying to get the money off them now is like trying to get blood out of a stone.

The money should've materialised last week so I contacted them to be told there was a problem with the "payment systems" and that were going to try again.

I had the same response this week when the funds never reached my account.

I am going to contact them again Monday and if there's another problem with this company I am going to contact their Local Trading Standards if needs be.

    AVOID at all costs...

  • Sorry to see all the bad feedback here. I have just had great experiences with an iPad 3 and an iPhone 5.

Both paid out in full original amount offered. I was originally offered half the money for the iPhone by RPC Recycle.

Maybe it is luck of the draw and the advice is to be prepared to take the effort to get your phone back and try another company if you're not happy with the first offer.
  • Another rodent with a thin tail?
  • Hi I wish I read this thread before I sent my phone off!! I was quoted £126 for an IPhone 4S higher than Mazumba etc so I chose Mobile X Change - Big mistake!!!
I was using my old phone the day before I sent it as only just upgraded. Sent it off and got an email yesterday to say that they were only offering me £27! Reason was apparently water damage and vibrate not working. It was working fine when I sent it off!! When queried they offered me a further £30 as this is what it would apparently cost them to send it back to me! (It cost me £6 special delivery). I pointed out that if indeed it was damaged in transit then I could claim via special delivery insurance! They have agreed to send it back will await... Load of rubbish! Women said the (red indicator, which I have googled and shows the phone had contact with moisture at some point in the last 2 years! Which can be caused by steam in the kitchen was the main reason) £99 they tried to rip me off for don't use them. Have used Mazumba mobile before and although they offered £7 less cheap at the price!
  • It seems they use the 'water damage' excuse rather a lot.

We sent my son's iPhone 4S off after being offered £133. He didn't hear anything from them until £27 arrived in his bank account. We contacted them and they said the phone was scratched, had some LCD damage and was water damaged.

When I said my son had not received any communication concerning a much lower offer they said we'd entered his email address into the system incorrectly (missing the m off .com).

I said the email would have bounced back but they said it's an automated system. So we have no come back it seems. I understand we are at fault for entering the email address incorrectly (although most forms won't allow you to do that) but don't they have a responsibility to make sure the offer is received before disposing of the phone? Their terms state they'll contact you either by email or text and have his mobile number so could have contacted him.

I'm very angry with Mobilephonexchange and really hope people take heed of the comments here and AVOID them.
