When I once tried only one park and one date ( because that's all we wanted ) I was continually asked on the form for 3 more parks and 3 more dates, so I had to sort of ' juggle' around between different dates and parks that I really didnt want, until I came up with the one I did want.. dont forget that you dont ' commit' until you are sure you want the park offered/ what I mean by this is, that I required, say, the 1st of September, for, say LAKELAND site, so I put the site, and the date in.. It would not go any further until I put in three more sites and three more dates, so I put in, say 5th Sept, as my 2nd choice, and other, later dates as my 3rd and 4th choices.. then I put in, say, Cala Gran as my 2nd choice, and, say, Marton Mere and Silloth Park as my 3rd and 4th choices of parks..

It always came up with dates and sites that were available, which weren't always what I wanted, so thats what I mean, by ' juggling around' I just permutated, until I got what I wanted.. sometimes not the first choice, but near enough.

    Hope that helps someone.

The parks I would recommend, are , definitely New Quay, in West Wales - a lovely clean, modern site, with only a 10-15 walk, either on the cliff, or on the roadway, into the lovely town of NewQuay, with the harbour there, the shops, the views, the pubs and restaurants - a really really lovely place. We've been 3 times. Thats good recommendation.

Lakeland at Grange over Sands is also lovely, with a ride away nearby to the south end of Windermere and a visit to the lovely village of Cartmel is a must ( try their famous Sticky Toffee Pudding !) In Grange over Sands, there is a lovely promenade walk where you can see right across the bay with the distant view of mountains. There is also a little ' oasis' - duckpond and a park area in Grange itself, where, you can see scores of different ducks of all kinds, while you enjoy an icecream from one of the lovely shops in the town.

Greenacres in Portmadoc is also a lovely site..You have to have a car to get into Portmadoc ( thats the English way of saying it ! ) because, its about 2 miles away from the town.. Black Rock Sands, is a lovely beach nearby where you can park your car on the wide, flat sandy beach there..Nothing much there, but great if you have kids, or enjoy long beach walks.. and just around the corner is an absolutely gorgeous seaside village of Criccieth, with its castle overlooking all, its lovely promenade walk ( free parking !) famous ice cream shop ( Cadwallader's if I remember) and fish and chips..The bay is a lovely site. The colours on a summer evening.. gorgeous. A real stress-buster !

Hafan y Mor in Pwllheli ( well.. between Pwllheli and Porthmadog ( portmadoc ) is a very clean and well kept park, ( very large) If you love trees and shrubs, and care about how a site actually looks, then this is a site for sore eyes.. Its beautiful colours and well kept areas of greenery and colour in the areas around and between the caravans is pleasing on the eye. We didnt use the club house, because there are only two of us ( we are senior citizens, cant you tell ? ) waxing lyrical about the gardens, etc ! but the Mash and Barrel, we used without the pass, we just showed our key... was comfortable, and relaxing, for a meal and a drink on an evening.

Hope you enjoy your holiday.. These Sun holidays are absolutely great..

We always take our own bedding. If we have ever found anything other than what we expect, a polite, quiet word will always get service..

Take your food, or buy it at a local supermarket.. The shop IS expensive. The drinks ARE expensive. Most of all... enjoy !

how long did it take to get conformation of the booking after you posted it off?
  • Overtime is not included for retirement purposes but shift differential/holiday pay is. Since these are all included in the middle of the month check you will notice some retirement is taken out. If you dont work 3/W, 1/W or holidays well not like we get paid for them now anyhow then I believe no retirement will be taken out.

it will be in the paper later this week
  • We stayed at this park in Sept 2010, at the time my boys were 2 and 10 months. We upgraded our caravan to have one with heating, the van was very nice and clean. The actual resort was a dump, the swimming pool was disgusting with mould on the tiles, and it was filthy. The showers at the pool were very basic. We didn't spend much time on the resort as we used is as a base to explore Wales, it was conveniently located and we enjoyed visiting Greenwood forest park, the welsh mountain zoo and the steam train near mount snowdon. We had a great time but if you intend to spend lots of time at the resort I wouldn't recommend this one!

um ... did you not think to do your homework BEFORE going ahead to book with the SUN ?

dunno how many times myself and many others always stress each promo time to CHECK HOW MUCH IT IS TO BOOK DIRECT BEFORE BOOKING WITH THE SUN !

if you book during term time then yes, its often cheaper to book direct

also why were you buying a paper every day and then booking online ??? you only needed the codes not the actual paper tokens ...

crack of dawn ??? the booking started @ 4pm on a monday afternoon lol ! :rotfl:

I've just come across a link for the online booking form and it seems you can only book this way (with the codes but without the actual physical tokens) if you've been before and have been sent mailing with a unique reference number. Hope this makes the above OP feel a little better.

well i'm guessing the OP above DID have a priority booking code else they wouldn't have even been *able* to book online .. ( as they mentioned that they indeed had done this )

hence my pointing out that the papers do not actually have to be purchased ;)
