Twice I've been to Porthcawl Trecco Bay and taken the dogs and our caravan was [STRIKE]grotty[/STRIKE] 'well used' by others.

Porthcawl itself is lovely, am going to try another park next time with the dogs. I know we pay extra for the privilege of taking them, but the caravans have seen better days. The last one had a sock and a pair of pants left by the previous owner under the bed and 27p. Naturally being very MSE I took the money but left the pants and sock.

I went to Trecco bay about 2 &1/2 years ago, and our caravan was very good, we didn't upgrade or anything, and the entertainments complex is excellent, the showdome is really good, the indoor pool is nice and the outdoor play stuff is not bad. I think they spent a lot of money on doing it all up a couple of years before we went.
Mind you I wouldn't go back , I prefer Haven sites at Kiln and New quay (West Wales).
I only live about 30 mins drive away from Porthcawl and somehow that makes it feel like you're not really on holiday!
    Joovce, Joovce you want me to spell, it's a J, V, C.

    Thanks for your response.
From your experience, what is the availability of the sites in Brittany, have I got any chance of getting the half term week at the end of May?

I don't think we will have any probs getting a site in Brittany for May half term

fingers crossed for both of us! :j
  • Has anyone stayed at any of the parks in Dorset? Thanks :)

both of the Haven sites Weymouth Bay and Seaview are lovely and next to each other so you can use either one's facilities.

Anyone know what Bude holiday park is like?

well if you take dogs you are unfortunately going to get the grottiest accom ! :(

Interesting and worth knowing. Is this the same at ALL the sites?

Also, if you take the dogs do you get a choice of heating or not? (ie if its going to be the grottiest accommodation).

    Hi,

    I do not know sorry
only can tell you what people who bring dogs have said:
that the accom they were in,was nowhere near the standard of the other ( no dogs allowed) accom

Maybe worth a ring to the sites you are interested in ? :)

Thats interesting because we came back from Parkdean Trecco Bay last Friday and feel like South Wales is some kind of hidden secret from us Bristolians! It was the second time we've been but did lots more this time and loved it there. The beaches are fab and hardly anyone on them. Will have a look at Pendine Sands now.

Hi - I have just booked to go to Trecco Bay in April. Is there much to do in the area apart from the beach. There is a range of ages going myself and my partner (26+37) our 1 yr old and 2 v.young at age OAPs. Would be handy to know before getting there.
    Many thanks
    Debbie

    Hiya

what kind of things are you looking for ? how far would you travel and will you have a car?

  • hi, i've just rec'd notification that the sun holidays we chose are fully booked, so have 'hastily' gone on line and booked another. Only ones that came up were for Brean Sands. I am assuming these are apartments, which I regret. Have just read the terms and conditions and it says they don't accept dogs (I admit an oversight on my part in my haste) whoops, part of the reason I go away in the UK is so I can take my dog.

Has anyone else been here? What else is it likely to cost? is it close to the beach and fair?

    thanks
