The point here is that the OP can use the internet, can read, write and use a PC. He can also get about and can drive.
No one here is suggesting that he can go get work as a roofer, I am merely suggesting that instead of concentrating on what he can't do and what he has not got, he looks at what he has got and what he can do.nogginthenog wrote: »Well i have quoted the guides and the rules and you obviously needed to be reminded of them.
If you score enough points in the descritors the law says you are not fit enough to work whatever your own personal thoughts.
From the OPS origional post,my guess is that he/she has not read the advice guides or/and not seeked proffesional advice before going to the medical...sorry if i am wrong.
Noggin - this is proof - if ever it were needed - that non-medical poeople should not be allowed to make judgement on whether ill people can work.
They make these stupid assumptions.
I did these things and yet the Adjudication Officer was forced to admit that going back to work was injurious to my health - I believe the AO's are called something else now - must be promotion

Its not an assumption.
Its a fact.
He can use a PC.
He can read & write.
He does drive.
This is like a bad episode of X-files.
Conspiracy.

No conspiracy - just ignorance and stupidity
If someone can read & write, use a PC, there is some kind of work they can do. If not some work, then at least a course to improve their skills or confidence.
To dwell on what can't be done and what the obstacles in the way are is not the way to start.
Are you saying then that the OP can't work? Are you medically qualified? Do you know the past medical history of the OP? Do you know what care they need day to day?
Or are you just bitter?

Duh - no, I am saying the OP *may not* be able to work - not making the assumption they can work like you are.If someone can read & write, use a PC, there is some kind of work they can do. If not some work, then at least a course to improve their skills or confidence.

Exactly as I went back part time - for purpose of therapeutic work - but it proved to be injurious.
Tapping a few comments into home PC and going in car to get food is not remotely the same or as easy as going out to work - I wish it was.0 -

But we do not know if he can do them without pain or discomfort,..or do you have some special powers ..another option would be you simply do not like conforming with the present law.Child of a Fighting Race.0 -
I don't understand why "pain or discomfort" per se are sufficient reasons to sit around at home all day, presumably in the same pain or discomfort. I'd have thought being in a suitable type of job might help to take your mind off your pain.
Most older people have some level of joint aches, rheumatism or arthritis, but on its own it is not a cause to write themselves off.
I think if people are still capable of getting their own shopping, that is indication enough that they need not stay confined to a life on benefits. Shopping involves a level of planning, preparation, and mental and physical effort, so a job e.g. data input should not be totally ruled out. Work places are required nowadays to make adaptations to allow disabled people to be employed there. It just seems so negative, all this "can't".
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Now for some informed and objective opinion - as opposed to those in DWP or similar mindset (e.g. save tax even if it means to those in medical difficulty):Bogof_Babe wrote: »I don't understand why "pain or discomfort" per se are sufficient reasons to sit around at home all day, presumably in the same pain or discomfort. I was once a manager in charge of clerical staff doing this sort of work and the idea that data entry can be input by people with chronic pain (look up definition) is frankly stupid - the data has to be accurate and this clearly cannot be managed with people constantly in physical discomfort or distress.0 -
