Can anyone advise me on how i contact the Sun? I received an email when i booked La Croix Du Vieux Pont on the 15th April to say that i would received my confirmation within 14 days. I have still not received it and the no. i call is no longer in use. Is it better to contact the site direct or to keep trying the Sun? I paid £120 for 1 week 12th July but i know there will be charges on top. Just want to pay them off asap and have peace of mind that we are actually going. Thanks,

another person who didn't do their homework / read all the info first!

you only have yourself to blame!

ALWAYS check to see how much it would be to book direct ( by telephone / brochure if you don't have internet access! ) as often if you want to go during term time,it will be cheaper to book direct rather than go with the SUN

but school holidays will always be cheaper with the SUN

also check how much the extras are eg entertainments passes and service charge

of course you need to add this onto the base price of £9.50 / £15 per person ( linen and entertainments passes, you don't HAVE to take if you don't want to )

I am glad some people are being put off by these "rip off" holidays, more chance of the rest of us to book what we want, those of us who read all the info ( in the paper aswell as online,so no excuse) :D:D:D

To Rachie B who seems to think they know it all!! Anyone can add up but the point of the matter is the Sun advertise these holidays at £9/£15 when this is very far from the truth! You are more than welcome to your cheap rip off holidays from the Sun I'm off on a real holiday! and one where you dont get ripped off by a newspaper!! enjoy.

I do not think I know it all ,far from it

but I have done enough of the SUN holidays, and participated in enough of these threads to know all about them ..

as anyone could if they actually read and took on board all the info available!

I asked my cus who worked there about contacting the helpline and apparantly the helpline and 'react-now' email is only available whilst the promotion is running, and then opens again at the start of each new promotion. (The helpline number also changes periodically, so best to check the terms & conditions for what it is).

When it comes to the terms and conditions, there really is only one loophole in them, and it doesn't take much lateral thinking to realise what it is. I checked with my cuz, and when I suggested it, she said that 'yup, thats the one': but apparantly only once in a blue moon does some customer have worked it out...

Little hint - on the application forms etc there's a bit that says 'I am over the age of 21 and agree to the terms and conditions....'

and then it asks you to sign your name.

Should be enough of a hint I'd have thought.
  • Not going to bother as people with priority forms get to book online before everyone collecting vouchers - therefore very unlikely to get any dates or parks you want
Yeah, but once you've booked through the 'old fashioned' way via the newpaper form, you are most likely to get a priority pack throught the post in time to book your next holiday. I started booking these holidays six years ago and every year since (with the exception of last year, as I moved address), I have received a priority pack from the sun.
  • I have just come back off the worst Sun holiday ever!!

I moved house back in October and usually every year I get a priority pack come through the post, as I book one of these holidays every year, but this I didn't get one as they didn't know my new address. I contacted the Sun and they said it was not possible to re-send a pack, so I had to book the old way. I think this is where it all went wrong.

I sent off my application form with my cheque and quite a few weeks later, I received a letter, informing me where I was going and when - Dawlish, South Devon between Mon 28th June and Friday 2nd July. That was fine, the place sounded nice and the time of year to go was great!

We arrived on Monday and were told we were staying in a chalet. That was fine, until we walked through the door of it. The carpets were like an industrial grade wire woollen type in a dark brown, the TV was located at the end of the sofa so we had to re-arrange the furniture to watch it, the floors in both the bathroom and the kitchen were sticky, which was rank, everything in the cupboards had to be washed prior to use, all three of the appliances in the kitchen were plugged into an adaptor and then into one single plug socket as there was only the one socket and the appliances were all way past their pat-testing date!!, the bathroom was that small that as soon as you entered it, the sink was right in front of you, the toilet was then immediately to the left and the shower immediately to the right, with no floor space what-so-ever, the main bedroom had a desk for you to sit at to do your hair / make-up etc , but there was nothing to sit on!, all of the fittings on the ceilings / walls were nicotine stained yellow and the fire blanket in the kitchen was thick with dust, so it clearly hadn't been checked for quite some time!! The park itself was also really grotty and un-cared for, with rubbish everywhere. It was as if everybody in the area had the attitude that they couldn't be bothered with it all. The pool was rank as there were manky bits floating throughout it all, tiles off the edges and just grime all the way round it! The entertainment wasn't that good either, as you got the impression that they all couldn't be bothered to be there, the lifeguards were all way too cool to be there too and were more interested in playing with their mobile phones. The only ones who were really genuine and nice were the bar staff and the shop staff, which I'm sure don't get paid nearly half as much as the entertainment crew!!

We obviously were not going to be in the accommodation all of the time, but even venturing away from the park, there was absolutely nothing to do!! Unless you fancied driving for an hour to get anywhere half decent, there was nothing about, apart from coffin dodgers everywhere and plenty of crappy cafes!! Again, it was as if everyone in the town could not be bothered with the place, as it was really run down!!

I could go on and on, but I think you all get the picture!!

I sort of got the impression that as we had paid less than all of the other holiday-makers, that we got given the second-rate chalets!!

The name of the holiday company and park was: Park Holidays - Golden Sands Holiday Park, Week Lane, Dawlish, EX7 0LZ.

I WOULD ADVISE ANYONE THINKING OF GOING THERE, NOT TO!!!!:(
