Hi, I have a basic STEP account with Natwest but am worried that if I try to claim back my charges they will close my account. I love having a solo card and would not pass credit checks with other banks now. Do natwest generally tend to close accounts? Thanks.0

I contacted my bank earlier this month to get bank charges and they offered to send statements out. However, they contacted me today to say they no longer have this info as my account was open from april to august 2000, is there anyhing i can do?0

Yes if they respond within the deadlines, the next stage can start straight away. If they dont respond within the deadlines set, then you report them (DPA) or move onto the next stage straight away!Littlewoods catalogue - won back charges of £300 by default.

What stage are you at now? You have refused the amount offered so carry on for the whole lot. It would be silly to refuse it and then accept it! You obviously thought it was not enough when you refused it. They are trying to bully you into taking the lower amount (which is only 40% of what you asked for!!). From reading these pages you will have seen that pushing invariably gets good resuklts in the end! Good luckLittlewoods catalogue - won back charges of £300 by default.

benn calculating it all day and my head is buzzing going for RBS on 3 accounts mine OH and Daughter and hsbc if i get these will be checking my old abbey account
No, the 8% only goes on at the moneyclaim (court) stage, do not add it on to your claim now or they will know that you are not entirely au fe with how this works, don't give them that satisfaction!
Remember that the interest will increase with every day that passes (the spreadsheet does this automatically for you when you open it on a particular day) so if it does get to the moneyclaim stage, mak sure you put the values for interest from that particular day! If you get my drift...standing orders went out of my account which i didnt authorise they should have gone out of another account ie someone elses at the time i got the £40 back but can i claim anything for their incompetence and can i claim back the interest at 8%
If they pay up before the moneyclaim stage you cannot get the interest. So in this case they have already paid so no you can't claim the 8%, sorry.Littlewoods catalogue - won back charges of £300 by default.

Those dates are over 6 years ago so you would not be able to claim for them. Your account was only open for 5 months?Littlewoods catalogue - won back charges of £300 by default.

Hi, wondered if someone could help, i have recieved all my statements from the Natwest bank, and now put the charges on the spreadsheet. Do i send this to my local branch or is there a different address for this needs to be posted to. Thanks for your help in advance.0

You should find the address for the head office of the bank in the UK, sending it to your local branch could slow things down as they probably have to send it to HO anyway. Who are you claiming from?Littlewoods catalogue - won back charges of £300 by default.

Advice please. Have just received bank statement from Abbey stating they will be charging me £50 on the 17th November for paying a direct debit on my behalf because there were insufficient funds in my account to cover a direct debit (the amount was actually £1 less than what was in my account). Have spoken to the bank and basically they said tough. Told them I was going to close the account (have been a customer for 15 years) and still they wouldn't relent. Have just applied on line and have been accepted for a new account with A&L so transfer to new account in progress. Should I make sure there are no funds in the Abbey account so that they cant take out the £50 charge on the 17th or leave money there to cover it and try and claim it back another way.0
