melpomene wrote:You can definitely claim! Most people like to have another account in place before embarking on this journey, but you aren't actually using a bank at the moment so maybe you don't need an account while you remain in the cash job.
i don't know whether you'd have trouble opening an account. i'd be tempted to find out by trying to!
Cheers for your help, I think iI'm gonna go for it, though i'm pretty apprehensive! Thank you0 -
Hello I wrote a letter to Halifax requesting refund of unfair charges. They did refund £250 but they clearly stated in the letter that if in future I will reclaim charges again, they will close my account. The situation is getting very urgent and serious now, as DD of £5 or £15 in my account are send back, and I am charged £30 each time. I am getting poorer and poorer just to repay this charges. What shall I do? I have another bank account but it is Intelligence Finance web account and it is useless to me. If I have to put money in my bank not electronically, I cannot do it as they have no branches in which you can do it. I cannot open a bank account as my credit score is very low. HELP!0

Hello I am trying to claim bank charges from my bank, have had to pay £120 to moneyclaim on line, my bank has decided to defend the claim (just my luck!) I have today rung moneyclaim online as I havent heard anything for a while, they say that on 25th August my claim was passed to a Judge to make a decision as to whether the bank should pay or not and that it usually takes about 5 weeks for this to happen, the 5 weeks are up today, the chap said I should hear something soon. Unsure now as to what to do next, obviously wait for the Judge's decision but what if its not in my favour, great if it is but what if its not? Any advice or suggestions gratefully received!!0

If you sign up to the Forums at
http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/ sponsored by Martin
you will find most of the major banks have a board each so you can look for your particular bank and see what others suggest.
There is also a live chat room which I haven't tried as yet but presumably you can put your questions to users that may currently be online.0 -
Hi all, great thread but I didnt manage to read through all 100 pages, so apologies if this has been asked before!
I went into my local branch of Halifax and asked for the last 6 years statement, to which the guy at the counter laughed and told me that it would cost £5 PER statement (£360) in total! Just wanted to make sure that this isnt correct so I can return there tomorrow and (smugly, sp?) correct him.
Thanks0 -

RBS have not defended my claim so I asked for judgement to be entered against them. What happens nowGod save the King!
I'll save Winston Churchill, Jane Austen, J. M. W. Turner and Alan Turing.0 -
is the 28 day period for defence through moneyclaim from the date you submit, they reply to defend or indeed they reply with their defence? Does moneyclaim default to act in your favour outside these dates or do you have to ask for thr judgement to be entered against them?It pays to challenge0
