Claim back any unfair bank charges! Article Discussion Area

Hi,
I decided to go for it and claim back unfair charges from an old bank account I had with Abbey National. I sent the letter off with the £10 fee for a list of my charges. I have just got a letter back saying that they are unable to send the request to my new address for security reasons and they would like me to send further ID and phone them up to speak about it.
How should I play this as I know they will try and delay it for as long as possible.0 -

I am trying to claim charges back from the A/L. I sent in the initial letter with a £10 cheque 43 days ago. The cheque has been banked by the A/L but I have not heard anything. What should I do now? There is no template letter on http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/
I assume that there is at least one other person who is in a similar position to me. Any advice please would be appreciated.
There is a letter in the Templates section of the CAG for non-complience with the DPA.0 -

I got charged 3 lots of £38 from Natwest as I had unpaid direct debits (Paypal is too confusing with all their verification procedures...) - wrote a letter of dissatisfaction telling Natwest of their incompitence in notifying me once a charge was made (this lead to 2 more charges).
Also made it clear that their charges were high compared to prevailing rates of other banks (almost double)

We are expats who have had many problems with Lloyds bank whilst abroad. We are taking them to the Financial Ombudsman, after at least 5 letters of complaint. We are also in the process of reclaiming unfair bank charges. I must sort out the new bank account!!0
