Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 22st March. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!
Morning. Looks to be another nice day.
Happy Mothers day to all you Mothers out there.
Another excuse by the card and flower companies to make money out of us. At least it's not as bad as America with Boss's day, Secretaries day etc.....
Plymouth lost again
Had a good day out in St Ives. I learned one thing though..... It's not Summer yet. Left my house armed only with a T-shirt and jeans thinking how warm it was. By 4pm I was freezing. Missed the train I wanted, so froze even more when the mist rolled in around 5. Still it was a nice day out there. Lovely blue skies and seas. Still some early issues for the holiday industry
Mother's coming over later for roast chicken. Church first and then get the eggs started in the incubator.
Off to get the paper and walk the dog.
Have a great day

Good morning N9eav and everyone who follows.
Bright and sunny here. Been awake since 6am so finally got up. There are those of you who would have got up straight away and been busy doing things. I just lay and thought my thoughts and now I'm on here with my first cup of tea.
Not sure what today holds. I got a delivery of lovely flowers from DD and DS who are older and have left home (one still at uni though) and also a parcel came in from DD so I will open that shortly. Have youngest DSS here. We were going to the cinema this afternoon after a gammon Sunday lunch at home, but F-in-L is still in hospital due to sickness following his knee replacement last Sat. He doesn't handle anaesthetics well and then often has a reaction to tablets they give following the op. He has been moved to another hospital and is in observation ward.
OS plans anyway include taking some stuff down to the dump at some point, either today or later in week if we are away today.
Plans also include a trip to gardening centre or Focus at some point to pick up some nice plants for the containers. DH gave the grass its first cut yesterday and the back garden is looking nice (this is a relative term - we have 2 dogs which like to dig:D).
I hope everyone has a good Sunday and that those who celebrate Mothers Day enjoy it.

Good morning everyone
Happy mother's day to all you mommies out there.
Woohoo, Ireland won the grand slam!! And an Irish boxer became world superbantam weight champion last night too!! There are lots of happy people in this part of the world today.
It's shaping up to be a nice day here. Long may it last - though according to the forecast the weather is going to do a U turn and be cold, wet and horrible again soon:rolleyes:. Never mind, that's what it's supposed to do here.
My plans for today are to take a trip to see mother - a bit over an hour's drive away. I'll hopefully get some washing done first and bung that on the line. I really need to do a bit of colouring in on my head as I am a bit witchy/skunky looking at the moment. Luckily I've got a supply of reduced hair colorants in the cupboard - they are a bit dark but still about ten million times better than a big grey stripe.
Bye for now.

Morning N9eav,Snowyowl and wmf and all those who follow and Happy Mothers Day to all!
Bright but cloudy here this morning and def cooler than yest.
Had my hair done yest afternoon and baked an orange drizzle cake for a change, some Twinks and tried a weetabix cake. Got loads of washing dried outside and tidied all house so can have a fairly lazy day today which will be nice.
DD1 has invited us to her house for lunch today (newly living with bf and this is the first "formal" meal she has attempted for everyone and I believe is quite nervous!) so I am really looking forward to that. Normally on Mothers Day we go out for a meal but as my children were usually skint we usually ended up paying most of the time so it will be a nice change this year:rotfl:
Think OS will be suspended for today, I hope you all have nice relaxing days and enjoy yourselves.
Hugs to all who need them x
Taplady hope things went well at hospital ((((((Hugs)))))))"Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you are up to........"Dieting ........... is no piece of cake!!!!:D
Weight loss since January 2011 - 5st 5 lbs!!!!!0 -
Morning all
Happy Mother's Day to all us mums
Not a lot planned for today. Am going to pop down to the Land of Leather to see if they have a pouffe that matches the suite I bought from them a few years ago, as they are closing down and I might get a bargain!
Awwwwwwwww how sad, on Mother's Day, just seen on Sky News Jade has died. How very very sad for her boys that she died today of all days. RIP Jade
Have a good day all.0 -

Happy Mothers Day all
I've snuck up early as I have lots to do and the girls will whinge if I do jobs today. They've bought me a free loader solar charger for when I go camping - it was a special request and i put half towards it so got it yesterday - just need some sun today to try it out. No cards here N9aev - they know how i feel
We had a lovely roastie ysterday and even dd(19) admitted that it might be worth paying a bit extra for quality meat - or at least looking out for yellow stickers (she thinks i'm common for hanging around the reduced counter) Also made some scrummy raspberry muffins - dgs(4) took five of them into the tent that I put up in the back garden - we only knew when we found the cases
Going to a chinese buffet today and then hopefully back in time for prancing on ice
have a good dayI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
Morning everyone
It's beautiful and sunny today. Happy Mothering Sunday to all us mummies, and special thoughts to those who are without this year.
DD has given me a card and some lillies, but she said she has another gift but doesn't know where daddy has hidden it, and he's still in bed
Not much os'ing going on today - although I worked like a demon yesterday so I could get away with that today
Heard about Jade on the news, so sad, sending lots of love to her 2 boys.
Have a great day everyone xxSquares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
Morning :hello:
Taplady
Wmf, my dad gets sick after an anaesthetic too, they gave him an epidural and a pill to make him sleep instead. He woke up feeling great and they gave him a morphine drip. Turns out morphine makes him sick too, so they gave him a paracetamol drip instead.
We're visiting dad in hospital today, he's ahead with his physio so hopefully they'll let him go home tomorrow. I wanted to see the scar but mum wouldn't let him uncover it with her there, she hates seeing things like thatShe'll be flitting between home and hospital all day, hopefully we'll catch her at one or the other to give her flowers.
My stuff has been suffering lately, so I'm locking myself away for 2 weeks (at least). There's so much I want to do but housey things get in the way. I'll have to venture out tomorrow though, Boris's top teeth have fallen out/snapped off  Quite common in guinea pigs and most of the time don't need treatment (their teeth grow constantly so they'll reappear soon) but I still want to get him checked out. He's happily eating mashed food at the mo
My brain feels like it's constantly being bashed against my skull (caffeine withdrawal - I still have one weak coffee a day though) but it's subsiding a bit now
OS-wise, hhhmmmm well I'm slowly starting it again but on my terms. On one hand, I'm not going to make the effort when the other trus don't care one way or the other, on the other hand I can't stand to see them filling their bodies with junk. It's ME that wants them to eat the healthy stuff. And the kenwood chef looks all lonely and neglectedBulletproof0 -
Morning all
Glorious day by the looks here again today. I'm not a great fan of all this mothering sunday malarky....good job really as my 2 little darlings haven't even surfaced yet this morning so I had to make my own tea and toast
DH is cooking potroast beef for tea tonight, so will look forward to that.
We're moving on the 9th April so today will be another day of sorting and packing and cleaning....I think I might get the pressure washer out and clean the back windows/conservatory/patio and car....might even go the whole hog and hoover the car out too!
Left some vinegar in my iron last night to descale it, the muck that came out this morning was vile.....but at least I felt virtuous doing it the OS way....until DH told me he'd got some discaler in the shed that would have done it in half the time."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Morning all!
Looks like it's going to be another lovely day - shame I'm at w*rk!
Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers - I'll be ringing mine later, wish I could be there but veryglad I got to see her earlier this week
N9eav - St Ives is beautiful, isn't it? I always manage to go when it's bad weather too, maybe we're cursed?:rotfl:
Tru - I don't think I could give up caffeine - you have so much more willpower than me;)
The last night of the play went very very well, I even got a clap at the end of one of my scenes. Had a house party at some halls of residence after which was fun, but quite messy_pale_ wasn't feeling too clever yesterday!!
Have to try and get some studying done today - feel quite far behind after all the shows. Not sure about OS tiday, but I have to tidy my room - does that count? One thing I am starting again this week though is budgeting - it's completely gone of the window recently, time to get back on track.
Have a lovely day everyone (((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))) to anybody who needs one
