Hello everybody and hugs to all mothers and to Jade Goodie's two little boys, sad thing is that they are too young to remember her and she was such a loving mother.

Taplady...glad to hear that OH is home and that it wasn't another heart attack....he will have to take things easier, whatever that means for him. Don't think that you are being a bit silly because the boys forgot...its the remembering that counts....maybe you should forget to cook dinner for them some day!

Lillibet...hugs to you and your DD

csarina...good for you, strike is the only way to get through to men sometimes.

Beth....don't overdo things to-day, let others help

Tattycath....not sure how old your DD is but would not let glandular fever be the means of her treating you as a slave....DD3 had it when she was 15 and was really very tired all the time, would see no reason for her to take over your nights as well as days by acting like a toddler and then acting like an ungrateful brat during the day....sorry, not my business, but I was mad when I read your post.

    Hugs to all

    Marie

    Afternoon all
I didn't have to cook today as my 4 children took me & hubby out for a meal.
Taplady, hugs to you, my DS's only remember cos their sisters tell them.
I need to get the sewing machine out soon & make the backdrop for the school play & I have one load of washing left to do, the rest has dried on the line.
Thanks to lucylocket for the info, I'll phone enviromental health tomorrow, I'd hate to see the bursar carry the can for BOW's stupidity.
My cut & come again lettuce is coming along beautifully & I'll soon be having lettuce in my sarnies at lunchtimes.
    Hugs Hester

Tattycath - I had glandular fever at the ripe old age of 34 and boy was I ill, but even so that is no reason for your daughter to treat you as a servant, I may get flack for this but she sounds very spoilt and in need of a short sharp shock, being ill is no reason to be so nasty.

Tap- lady, I know what you are going through, I never hear from either of my sons on mothers day, I am afraid the old adgae a sons a son till he takes a wife is very true.......and my elder daughter has emailed but I doubt I will see anything of her........ I just don't think about it any more, my own mother died years ago....... I was closer to my grandmother who brought me up whilst mother went to work.

We have had a bit of excitement this afternoon, the fire alarm went off again........no hunky firemen rescuing me from the window, guess someone had burnt their dinner.........I will find out later.

((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))) to all those of you who are mothers and feel undervalued.

Tattycath I would drag her to this thread and make her read what you have written to show her how ungrateful she is - when its written down in black and white it might sink in better

Awwww, I'm so sorry Tattycath, Taplady and Lillibet - I really hope my mum knows how much she means to me. Can't be with her today because I live so far away, but she got taken to a Jamie Oliver restaurant on Wednesday when she came to visit and I snuck a card into her suitcase before she left. And I rung her this morning only to find my brother has done nothing  not even a card!! I know he's unemployed and can't get a job for love nor money, but if he'd even done some housework or something she'd be so chuffed. I think kids sometimes need a good kick up the backside when it comes to their mums - I almost lost mine when an operation went horribly wrong when I was 15 and she was only 34, and I've never forgotten that she could very easily not be here. It's got me tearful just thinking about it. I'm not much older than some of your children (24 in a couple of weeks) and I don't have any kids, but on the one day that's set aside for mums, they should be treated like the precious things they are.

Sorry, rant over. You guys are great, that's all xx

    - tru, have you managed to get rid of yours in the end?
Nope, the little sods are immune to everything  They won't even go for choc or peanut butter. We've just bought some more poison from B&Q (it looks like guinea pig nuggets) so I'm hopeful - a bit  :D

Talking of little sods, the teen-trus have completely ignored mother's day  They stayed out last night. ANNNNNND master tru - who IS NOT allowed to use my bike cos every time he does, he buckles a wheel/has a puncture/messes up the gears - waited til we went out then came home and took it

I really feel like doing a 'Tru' at the moment.

Well, what are you waiting for? Just do it :D

I had loads of choc for my birthday last week, so I spent the afternoon watching eating choc and watching Rambo 1 and 2. Rambo 3 tonight :D

    Hi all,
DH and I met our DF's at lunch time over a couple of pints, DF starts her chemo next tuesday, she is so frightened as the treatment will last 3 months along with some radiotherapy and a lumber puncture. I've had 2 lumbers and it's so so painfull but didn't tell her as I didn't want to scare her.

Got home and did some gardening, had a job to see through watery eyes.
DD2 and baby Charlotte came with cards and flowers and a book, DD1 is coming on Tuesday for the day, I got her card y/day and a card from DGD1.

TAPLADY and TATTYCATH, I too would be so hurt if my 2 didn't send a card, afterall it's 1 day out of 365. I sent flowers and a book with a card for my DM, I'm the only one of 4 who remembered even though I phoned DB's to remind them. The male species just don't think most of the time.

LILLIBET, Your DS will eventualy wake up and realise what poison he has been fed and hopefully will be there for you. I know it must hurt a lot. x

    CHRISCA, That's a good idea.

TAPLADY, So glad to hear the good news and you have DH home.

KATIE, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY for y/day. CONGRATULATIONS.

ESSEX H. Good grief, how do you manage to fit all of that in?

    MEANMARIE, Thanks Hun.
  • Taplady - so glad it was a false alarm.

Also ((((taplady & tattycath)))) My DD's (12, 15 & about to turn 17) have also given me a really carp mother's day. I did get cards & an orchid, but it's very easy to dish out a present. Unfortunately the rest of the day they have been cows. Eldest did sort of begrudgingly cook a roast as I had invited my mum down, but she just about made enough roasties for 1 each, didn't bother with the parsnips I like, left the veg sitting in water for 15 minutes after they'd cooked.. etc & then walked off in a huff when I dared to say anything, so I was left to finish it off & then made pudding myself too. Middle DD has had a strop & said I'm stingy cos I'm not prepared to look at a £170 prom dress this afternoon (after she's been narky at me all day & had £40 Friday for other prom stuff).
I spent the morning hoovering (after having been asking for days on end & getting nowhere), then cleaning the toilets.
"doing a tru" doesn't seem to get anywhere except someone complaining that I "go on" at them. So I shall be withdrawing from conversation/taxiing or anything else.

Sorry, another ranter here..... I just really couldn't do anything more for them if I tried, to make up for their waster of a father, and despite knowing that, nobody will say a word to him.

Anyhow, I'm off to get a cuppa & have a long soak in a lavender bath as soon as dancing on ice is finished.
