Thanks Choccybuttons.... i'm going to have to start childminding as soon as poss after baby is born... i've got to keep up the mortgage and bills... esp hard as with ex's job stuation being so precarious... i wont be able to childmind in a flat (not with the size of flat i'd be able to rent in this area)
my mum is going to move in with me in lead-up to baby's arrival and a few weeks after, and i have a huge support network of people who will help with walks etc if i ask.. the doggie i'm waiting to hear about is a lurcher x... not particuarly high energy - so will only require a short walk morning and evening
if nothing else she will force me out of the house as soon as i've recovered enough... ! which should help with losing the babyweight too...
i'm not going to work full time / every day - mainly so i can have quality time with my baby before he grows up too quickly... !
i'm so grateful for everyone's input - and after everything that has happened it really has shown me that i do have sooo many people who genuinely care about me and want to help me... i know my ex cant say the same thing!:male:Alfie Sidney born 29th August 2009:male:0 -

Just wanted to let you know I am thinking of you and Alfie and wish you all the best for the future.

Hi Fitzilian, I think that sounds like a good plan!
You are absolutely right - your ex doesn't have a clue yet, but he'll soon realise how useful different support networks can be!
I don't know if you have ventured over there yet, but if you want to chat more about the pregnancy side of things I know the ladies on the pregnancy thread will be very supportive on all things maternal (and can also join in with rants about men!).

No I'm not as it goes. I have looked on there before but not regularly. Must have a little look actually, think I will pop across there now....

been talking about ex having access... he keeps on about how he needs to juggle the baby and his girlfriend - like it's my problem...
i've told him she isnt going to be involved until i'm ready... and she's a grown woman so he needs to talk to her if she doesnt see why she'll need to take a backseat when the baby arrives...
he's planning on spending 3 hours with his baby on a saturday morning and then spend the rest of the day with her... i just hope he realises pretty soon into it that he'll be missing out on soo much if thats all he can manage...
anyway... got my first aid training this weekend! then only 2 more saturdays and 6 more evening sessions and all my childminder training is done... it's up to Ofsted then...
spoken to my sister about joining me... i'd like the backup but i'd need someone i could be completely honest with... she'd be ideal for that! and she wants to go to bible college in the near future but has nothing to pay for it with - she cleans one house and her church at the mo... she'd do 4 days with me...
if that worked, do you think i could get the childcare element of WTC - as she could technically be Alfie's carer... ?:male:Alfie Sidney born 29th August 2009:male:0 -
My oh and myself grew up with dogs and i always ended up walking ours as nobody else wanted to. My oh wanted to get one when the kids were younger which i was against but we looked after one for a week and that was all it took for oh to see that to have young children and an active dog who needs walking whatever the weather is hard. One morning oh was away and the dog had to go out and i had to get three kids dressed in snow suits , hats and gloves etc at seven am just to take the dog out . A lurcher is dog that has been bred for racing and hunting so i am not sure that they are calm and low energy. I would think that they would need a lot of walking. I cant advise you what to do but think very carefully about giving yourself too much to do. There are always dogs that are looking for homes, so even now if you decide that you want to wait there will be another dog who would be delighted to come to live with you. Take care.0

Fitzilian, I've only just read this thread for the first time and I just wanted to say how strong you have been and how well you are doing. It is your ex who will miss out in the long run on your lovely little one, he has really shot himself in the foot there.
Hugs to you, you're a very strong woman!0 -
ankles are huge!
had my legs crossed for most of the day during the first aid course (got both days done today though so get 2mo off!) and wore some sandles - took them off an hour ago and you can still see every strap mark!
i think my sister would describe them as Canckels!:male:Alfie Sidney born 29th August 2009:male:0
