A Payment a Day Part 3

Paulgonnabedebtfree wrote: »Yes I have seen some of the types of post that you refer to. Sometimes they cxome from people who actually work in finance and come across as pretty judgemental. Although there may be a very few people who pre-plan getting into debt then going bankrupt as sound financial planning (and may deserve some sort of rollocking), IMO this is very unusual. Indeed, my own situation may require BR one day if something else unexpected goes wrong. However, I do intend to have all unsecured debts repaid by the next Olympics and my mortgage repaid by January 2019 The more judgemental people seem to be those who have never been in a financial mess so may not know how it feels.
Taking the view that nearly everybody gets into such debt unintentionally, how they got to that point is only relevant if they wish to learn lessons from it.
I understand people wanting to be honest and give simple answers (alot of that technical financial stuff is just mumbo jumbo to me!) but surely the reason for people being on here is for guidance and not judgement? I'll admit to having been judgemental a few times but only with people who have no intention of paying what they owe.
The people who work in finance can't be as judgemental as they'd like to be because, although it's not the fault of everyone who works in finance, the banks are in a right mess, HBOS (who I bank with) are in serious trouble because some 'clever wee banker' missed a deficit of 90million or some silly amount!! I've been left thinking that they might start off-setting here there and everywhere now??
On the other side of that coin though, there are some really helpful helpful people on here who work for banks, council or benefits office who are only too willing to help (thought I'd better add that bit!) :A
I just don't understand how some people can be, what I see as cruel, to so many others just needing some advice!
I would hope that nothing unexpected happends to you, I'll keep my fingers crossed!!Started PADdin' 13/04/09 paid £7486.66 - CC free 02/11/10

An Irishman was terribly overweight, so his doctor put him on a diet.
'I want you to eat regularly for 2 days, then skip a day, and repeat this procedure for 2 weeks. The next time I see you, you should have lost at least 5 pounds.
When the Irishman returned, he shocked the doctor by having lost nearly 60lbs!
'Why, that's amazing!' the doctor said, 'Did you follow my instructions?'
The Irishman nodded...'I'll tell you though, by jaesuz, I t'aut I were going to drop dead on dat 3rd day.'
'From the hunger, you mean?' asked the doctor.

Hi guys
After lurking in the background for a while trying to decide which credit card to PAD I have come to a decision, In fact my credit card provider made the decision for me, I sent a payment via the banks faster payment system yet my card provider still charged me a late payment fee as they say they didn't receive the payment in time, now we all know that they did but they take yonks to process it
Anyway they immediatley withdrew my credit facility which I thought was a bit harsh as I've never missed a payment or made a late payment in the past, so I now want to pay this card off as soon as possible and close it.
I will continue to make my monthly payments in addition to any extra sent PAD. My opening balance is £186.05 and I hope to have the £12.00 Late Payment Fee refunded once they receive my letter
I've just sent my first pad of a £1 not much but every little helps.
